Description

Both lilies and false lilies feature several blossom growing on long, slender stalks amid a cluster of dense, elliptical and spear-like leaves. They can vary widely in hue as well as leaf arrangement. While some lilies prefer the day, others flower only at night.

While not a true lily, the vampire lily's blossom, cradled by a modified leaf called a spathe, bears a similar shape to the other flowering plant. The plant is heat-producing and capable of increasing its internal temperature, which serves both to protect it from cold weather and to attract pollinators. A side effect of this increase in temperature gives the vampire lily a very pungent odor similar to rotting flesh. The black vampire lily only blooms at night.

Lore

The vampire lily is a real world plant. It also goes by other names such as snake lily, dragon lily, dragon arum, and black arum. There currently is no Elanthian specific lore associated with it, however the Language of Flowers does reference two other varieties of true lilies. Snow lilies are associated with "gratitude" while stargazer lilies are associated with "high breeding".

Appearances

The vampire lily only grows in Naidem. It can most easily be foraged in the Graveyard Temporalis.
