Night Shroud

Night Shrouds are scripted cloaks themed around shadows. When unlocked, they provide a chance for the wearer to automatically hide when attacked; this chance scales with the number of unlocks. There is an optional fluff verb set unlock that does not impact the auto hide mechanics. When unlocked to T5, they also become a full concealer, allowing the wearer to hide both features and inventory at the same time. Night Shrouds were first introduced during the August 2017 Duskruin run and are sold inside the Temple of Tentacles's hidden room, Deep Within Darkness, which is found via its silver-hued tunnel and then going through a (hidden) passageway. They have two different "paths" for unlocking. One path is the optional fluff verb set. The other path is the mechanical or "auction" verb set, which is designated by T1-T5 and includes the auto hide capabilities. Auto hide uses the wearer's Stalking and Hiding skill. Tier 0/OTS At this tier, the Night Shroud will have two verbs: RUB and TICKLE, as well as WEAR and REMOVE. It does not provide an autohide chance. Fluff Verb Unlock Any Tier of Night Shroud can have its fluff verb messaging expanded with this unlock. It gives three verbs, two of which reference a hood. The hood is purely for fluff messaging and does not show up in the features or inventory when pulled up. Its default is "makeshift hood" but it can be customized like a standard alteration. At this tier, it has a 1% chance of auto hiding. The ambient messaging is unlocked when you unlock the first mechanical/auction tier. Ambient messaging can be toggled on and off via PROD. In addition, they become a concealer when using PULL/PUSH, allowing the wearer to hide all features and inventory. The messaging for these verbs does not change with this update. When used as a concealer, the wearer looks like: Tenebrous shadows undulate in an unseen wind that dances across a darkened pewter flyrsilk frock coat, blurring the figure it enshrouds. PUSHing the flyrsilk frock coat will remove the shroud over your appearance. Chance to activate upon being attacked: 5% Additional Information Night Shrouds have always been available for sale at Duskruin within the Temple of Tentacles shop, however the room they are sold in often was missing from the full shop list, giving the impression that they were retired. They were never retired. They had their mechanical tier unlock price reduced significantly during the August 2021 run. Auto Hide This uses the hide system and will take into account the normal factors. It can flare/proc on cast or attack from a creature. Those with at least 1x in hiding will get different messaging on some of the verbs. Each auction unlock gives you a 1% chance to have your cloak attempt to hide you. This starts at 0% without any unlocks and maxes out at 5% at a maximum. As a scarred fire giant champion attacks you a cyclone of shadows emerge from your billowing black greatcloak. The shadows swirl around in an attempt to conceal you! You attempt to blend with the surroundings, but don't feel very confident about your success. Ambient Messaging Ambient messaging is unlocked at T1. It can be turned on/off via PROD. It fires off infrequently, approximately one line every 20-30 minutes.
