The seventeenth and penultimate dynastic Argent Mirror, Nimyaion was the only son of Tenesi Illistim. He resented his grandmother Lilorandrych for having him raised in the countryside, keeping him away from the court out of what he perceived as an insufferable need for control on her part. He blamed his mother for allowing this to actually happen. Whatever the ultimate nature of his maladjustment, he was not a serious ruler, more interested in playing the role of a musician than that of the monarch. His rule was marred with poor decisions.

Nimyaion was born in -21,095 Modern Era (28,012 Illistim), fifty years before the end of his grandmother's reign. His sister Lanenreat, the last dynastic ruler of Ta'Illistim, was born 666 years after him. Nimyaion assumed the Peacock Throne in -18,008 Modern Era (31,099 Illistim) at the age of 3,087 and abdicated the throne to his sister in -16,120 Modern Era (32,987 Illistim) at the age of 4,975. He was one of the only Illistim monarchs to voluntarily leave the throne, but never serve as an advisor to those who followed. He was killed by a thief in Ta'Nalfein, though the precise date is unknown.

He had no heirs, and died alone. He was considered a joke at the time of his death. His reign was 1,888 years.

Behind the Scenes

Museum Portrait

[Museum Alerreth, Portraiture]
The art hanging from the copper-veined marble walls is largely portraiture. Each piece is suspended on its own section of white space, leaving even the smallest with a clean border of surround. The greenish color of the patinated arch that leads in and out of the chamber is echoed in a single square tile set into the center of the wooden floor. Obvious exits: none

>look scene
The canvas piece is large and rectangular, with a background of feathery impressionistic trees surrounding a silvery blue stone keep. In the foreground a male elf in a blue cotehardie and silver hosen plays a lute, presumably to the three other women depicted with him, who pay attention to varying degrees. One woman, her brow cradled by a silver coronal, watches fully, her attention completely on the performance. Another woman, her fingers covered in rings, examines her hands, but still seems engaged by the music. A third woman, however, is turned completely away from the young man, her back to him and her focus on a book that lies open across her lap. All four subjects bear the same chiseled bone structure and distinctively backswept ears. Next to the painting is a small plaque, which appears to have something inscribed upon it.

In the Common language, it reads:
At the behest of his grandmother Lilorandrych, Nimyaion Illistim was raised outside of Ta'Illistim's formal court life, instead spending his formative years in the elven countryside. Despite the scene of familial closeness presented in this painting, however, Nimyaion chafed at what he later described as, "an exile from the true residence of my heart, and a youth spent amongst shrill and uncaring critics." All four of the elves depicted served, at one point or another, as Argent Mirror.
