Additional Information

Loresong

Loresong Reaction
Your song evokes the soft, sultry scent of roses from the vaalorn ring. To a pawnshop, the ring might be worth perhaps 40000 silver, but holy resonances infuse its composition, and suggestions of strong sentimental value cling to it as well. The soft, sultry scent of roses in full bloom drifts off the ring in XXX's hand.
Exploring the vaalorn ring's nature more deeply, you glimpse images of clergy in spring green robes walking along marble-tiled paths near a small, aging temple. The resonances you receive tell you that the ring was fashioned in some coastal region of the Turamzzyrian Empire. The creators were members of a temple of Oleani, though some turned their devotions to Phoen and Voaris as well, and the purity of their faith lingers still within the vaalorn ring. A soft rose fragrance eddies and drifts around XXX.
Images of wagons and mule-drawn carts enter your mind, evoked by the vaalorn ring's vibrations in response to your melody. The priests and priestesses of the small temple have gathered together some goods for sale, including a varied selection of treasured wedding rings, and a group of the clergy will travel with a caravan and sell these goods abroad to raise money and help support the temple. Spirits are high and joyous hymns fill the air as the journeying priests and priestesses wave goodbye before setting out. The light clopping of hooves over stone can briefly be heard, accompanied by the rumble of wagon wheels bearing a heavy burden along an ill-maintained road. The source of the sound seems to be the vaalorn ring in XXX's hand.
The vaalorn ring tells you the story of how a half-elven man came to the encampment of the temple wardens one night, and, although they were somewhat shy and hesitant around him, they did their best to make him welcome at their fire. Not one of the clergy mentioned his heritage, and, before long, they laughed and joked with him as readily as if he were fully human. The soft chirp of crickets sings through the air, accompanied by the faint smell of woodsmoke.
As the night continued, talk became more serious, and the golden-haired half-elf asked of their mission. The priests and priestesses told him that they were from Oire, and that their temple existed as a haven for all manifestations of love, but that repairs were sorely needed, and the local people were too poor to donate the needed funds. On the advice of a junior priestess from another temple in Oire, they had decided to gamble upon this merchanting venture, and sunk almost all of their funds into this matter. As they spoke of their mission, they admitted to some worry, but they said that they were certain their patrons would not let the temple be lost to financial ruin if it were truly serving the will of Oleani. Golden light suddenly blossoms around the a vaalin-chased vaalorn ring lying in XXX's hand, causing it to shine briefly like a piece of the sun.
The ring's tale continues, summoned forth by your loresong.

After hearing the group's explanation, the half-elf smiled, and he reached into a pocket of his scarlet cloak to withdraw a gold-petalled rose that shone like a piece of the sun to the group's dazzled eyes.

"Place this with whatever goods you most value, and, so long as your hearts are true, the will of Voaris shall surely favor you," he instructed an astonished priestess, and he closed her fingers gently around the thornless stem. Then, he was gone, leaving the group awed and stunned.

For a brief moment, in the silence after XXX's verse ends, the echoes of an unskilled but exultant choir singing a thankful hymn can be heard.
The vibrations from the vaalorn ring spin out the conclusion of its story.

With hope shining in their faces and a hymn of thanks on their lips, the journeying clergy placed the brilliant rose inside a velvet-lined chest containing tray upon tray of handmade wedding rings. The chest remained untouched until the group joined with the main caravan and began to set up shop. All circled around as the priestess who had originally received the rose opened the chest again.

Although the rose was gone, reverent wonder filled them with the sight of the rings, for a soft golden shimmer cloaked each one with divine radiance. The golden glow lasted only a few scant minutes before fading away, but the hearts of the clergy still blazed with joy as they went about arranging the goods for sale.

The vaalorn ring in XXX's hand shimmers for a moment, seeming almost insubstantial, and then it reforms into solidity.
A hazy image forms before you as the vaalorn ring divulges the last of its information. You glimpse a silhouetted form bending over one of the finely crafted rings from the caravan, and then you see two hands working carefully at its shape, manipulating and changing it until it has become the vaalorn ring cradled in your hand now. The exterior may have changed in appearance, but the blessings placed upon the ring by clergy and by the greater spirit alike still remain, and, as the last echoes of the ring's song fade away, it seems likely that those resonances are so powerful that no force in the world could disturb them. Golden radiance shimmers softly around the vaalorn ring in XXX's hand.
Your song retrieves no new information from the vaalorn ring, although residual echoes of joy, wonder, awe, and gratitude sing softly from its essence. Golden radiance shimmers softly around the vaalorn ring in XXX's hand.
