Title: Return to Solhaven, 5116

Author: player of Charna Ja'Varrel'Kav

I found myself back in Solhaven Bay,
Went over the bridge and sat on the quay,
Then looked at my boots with their soles worn away,
My mind wandering as I picked at the fray.

I’d traveled so far from this loving place.
I’d moved beyond the snow of Ice Mule Trace.
Broken inside, with guilt written on my face,
And removed myself from the Elanthian race.

From demons and lovers my feet had run,
I hurt inside and felt that I was shunned,
Because of the deeds that I’d gotten done,
But even in darkness, I longed for the sun.

Now I found myself back in Solhaven Bay,
I moved from my perch on that lonely quay,
Walked the streets my memories to allay,
And wondered if maybe this time I could stay.

Nothing much changes in Solhaven Bay,
Not sounds, or smells, or shells or the Grey,
Walking brought to mind those bright golden days,
When hot summer nights went by with a daze.

From alley to temple and both archways,
The cobble and the mortar always stays,
And the tea is the same in the familiar cafes.
As I moved about town, not an eyebrow was raised.

I looked at the faces and some were the same,
Easy laughter and smiles, no words of blame,
And hope crept in, my sad heart it’s to claim,
For refueling fires was not part of my aim.

The Market from memory lit up with banter,
From pious invoker to laughing enchanter,
And even a pair of Hathlyn ranters,
Whose jabs I largely left unanswered.

From Mabel that was stooped with age and frail,
The sailor too drunk to be let near a sail,
And the wishes that hoped I was still hail,
I began to relax and the sweet sea air inhale.

It wasn’t as bad as I feared and had thought,
My stomach was easing and gone was the knot,
The fear was leaving with which I’d be fraught,
No one seemed to remember the battles I’d fought.

Oh, I found myself back in Solhaven Bay,
Gone were the clouds of my yesterdays,
Yes, I think this time that I just might stay,
Back in my home of sweet Solhaven Bay.
