The Shadow doublet is a fluff script that applies to clothing items. It was originally released at Ebon Gate November 2026 by Zenuoie. The following facets are able to be customized by a merchant: shadow tint, normal description and shadowed description. Casting a shadow spell at the worn garment wreathes it in darkness for up to four hours, changing its description and verb messaging and adding shadowy ambients.
Analyze
~*~ Shadow Doublet This black brocade doublet will react to shadow and darkness spells being cast at it and transform into a shadow-wreathed garment! While in this state it has ambient messaging. PROD it to let the shadows withdraw early. Verbs: BOW, PONDER, PULL, PUSH, RUB, SHAKE, STRIDE, TICKLE, TURN, and WAVE. It is fully alterable, but the fabric form must remain actual fabric. The shadowed form is also alterable, and the shadowed description (long and show) can make reference to the garment being EMPOWERED. The noun may be changed to any of the following: coatee, coat, doublet, greatcoat, houppelande, jacket, longcoat, overcoat, topcoat, surcoat, vest, or waistcoat. The messaging references a collar, lapels, a placket, and buttons, so the garment should keep those. The shadow tint (the word used for the darkness in the messaging) may also be customized. There's more room than the traditional 15, so descriptions needn't be one word only, but let's keep it reasonable. "Ink-dark" = Okay. "Violet-edged" = Okay. Faintly luminescent absinthe green-tinged aquamarine and cerulean = Too much. Usage Information
The doublet must be worn for its verbs to work. Each verb has one message while the doublet is normal and another while it is empowered. The examples below use the default ink-dark shadow tint.
Empowering the Doublet
While wearing the doublet, cast one of the following spells at it: Corrupt Essence (703), Tenebrous Tether (706), Cloak of Shadows (712), Balefire (713), or Dark Catalyst (719). You need enough mana for the spell, but none is spent and the spell has no other effect. The doublet stays empowered for up to four hours. Casting again while it is empowered restarts the four hours. The shadows withdraw early if the doublet is removed or PRODded.

The PROD message also appears when the doublet is removed while empowered, and when the four hours run out.

Additional Information
- The Shadow Doublet was first sold at the Ebon Gate 2026 auction on November 1, 2026.
- While empowered, the doublet uses its empowered article, adjective, and long description. By default its article changes from "a midnight" to "a shadowy". Its normal ones return when the shadows withdraw.
- The shadows also withdraw if the justice system removes the doublet.
- You must be standing to BOW, STRIDE, or TURN.
Restrictions
- The noun must be one of: coatee, coat, doublet, greatcoat, houppelande, jacket, longcoat, overcoat, topcoat, surcoat, vest, or waistcoat.
- The garment needs a collar, a lapel, a topmost button, seams, shoulders, and a lower hem, because the messaging mentions them.
- The normal form must remain actual fabric.
- The doublet cannot be lightened.
