Backsword
The term backsword is used to define a single-edged sword that is thickest on the back of the blade. While this definition fits many weapon types in GemStone, the backsword evolved into its own base.
For the purposes of GemStone IV, it is a combination of a broadsword and a scimitar, being single-edged and slightly curved, like a scimitar, but thick like a broadsword. The weapon, due to its thickness, is effective at crushing armor, but is also effective when used to slash or thrust at the enemy. This is an ideal weapon for someone who uses the combat maneuver, precision (a broadsword would be more effective against an opponent wearing scale armor or plate armor; however, the backsword is superior to a broadsword in all other cases).
