Additional Information

  • The pie press holds two ingredients: a dough and a filling. The order matters:
    • Pies: PUT pie dough in first, then a pie filling.
    • Cobblers: PUT a cobbler filling in first, then cobbler dough on top.
    • Putting a pie filling into an empty press, or a filling on top of anything other than pie dough, ruins the bake.
  • CLOSE the press, then PUT it on a lit portable stove. Closing the press resets its heating cycles. Each heating pulse adds one heating cycle.
  • All pies and cobblers need 8 to 12 heating cycles. Opening the press too early gives an underbaked result, and waiting too long gives an overbaked one.
  • OPEN the press to finish baking. The finished pie or cobbler must be taken out before the press can be used again.
  • Fillings are made in a cooking pot, and dough is kneaded in a mixing bowl.
