The Raven's Roost

The Raven's Roost is a shop in Sablecross that sells mailing supplies. It is located on Rook Boulevard, east of the Gate of Ravens. Rookmaster Haupkin oversees the rookery, and Rehvin works for him as a courier.

An uncomplicated chandelier of iron and brass hangs from the ceiling near the entrance, supplementing the meager light streaming through the doorway into the windowless chamber. In an alcove sits an old modwir desk, the space atop it littered with stacks of letters and unsent parcels. From above comes the muted cawing of ravens.

This entry room serves as the town's mail system post office.

Shelves have been anchored into the crumbling walls of the rookery, lining all of them but the northernmost. Stairs proceed through an arch in the north wall, climbing toward the rookery's tower. The way is lit by a pair of feebly burning torches in iron sconces spotted with rust. A chorus of caws and the soft thunder of flapping wings echoes down the stairwell, amplified by the narrow space of the stairwell. You also see a carved dark wood sign.

A cacophony of caws and squawks fills the rookery tower, resounding off of the low eaves of the roof. Hundreds of ravens dwell in the space. The scent of their droppings commingles unpleasantly with the sweetness of a layer of straw on the floor, which is also scattered with shiny black feathers. Windows in each of the four walls provide a high vantage of the stately village below. You also see the rookmaster Haupkin.
