Meeting the Boat

[Frostmain Docks, Crab Pier] A sign with a blue crab on it hangs askew from one of the pilings, the paint having flaked away in places. Its inspiration seems to be the bright blue crabs that skitter around on the rocks near to the shore. They are evidently the only creatures hardy enough to thrive near the warmthless shores of the main. You also see a slender gangplank and a blood red fel sloop. Also here: Lord Sorlu Obvious paths: north, south

Sorlu nods.

You see a blood red fel sloop. Cresting the front of the sloop is a bone white kraken. Sprawling across the back of the sloop it reads, "The Frightful Sanguine Kraken".

Sorlu says, "This is their ship."

Aliashyrah examines Sorlu closely, sizing him up and taking note of all the details.

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Sorlu.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "So the name would indicate."

Sorlu smirks at Aliashyrah!

Sorlu says, "Indeed."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "You are looking dashing, as always."

Sorlu leans on his cane, taking a momentary rest.

Sorlu reaches up towards his shoulders to adjust his black leather suspenders, then runs his fingers downwards to trace the silhouette cast by his tailored silk shirt.

Aliashyrah nods approvingly at Sorlu.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "As do you. A more beautiful reception could not be had."

Sorlu grins.

Aliashyrah smirks at Sorlu.

Sorlu laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement.

Lady Aphaedra's group just arrived.

Aphaedra smiles.

Aphaedra curtsies.

Sorlu smiles.

Straightening her back, Aliashyrah gives a formal, low curtsy. She inclines her head as well, giving a brief nod.

Sorlu removes the hat from atop his head.

Jaydo smiles.

Sorlu bows.

Sorlu makes a grand, sweeping gesture with his Nalfein-styled cane.

Sorlu dons his suede hat.

Jaydo deeply says, "At last."

Jaydo bows to Sorlu.

Aphaedra says, "It is so lovely to see you both on dry land."

Jaydo bows to Aliashyrah.

Sorlu warmly greets, "Welcome to Icemule."

Aliashyrah formally greets, "Welcome to Icemule. I trust the trip went smoothly."

Aphaedra says, "It did."

Jaydo nods respectfully at Sorlu.

Aliashyrah smile.

Aphaedra says, "My Kraken is an excellent ship. She is small, like me, but very fiesty."

Aphaedra chuckles.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "And quite the long voyage they made to reach us too."

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo says, "Light rain in spots, but nothing my Captain could not handle."

Jaydo gazes lovingly at Aphaedra.

Sorlu grins at Aphaedra.

Jaydo smiles.

Aphaedra smiles at Jaydo.

Aliashyrah agrees with Sorlu.

Jaydo grunts.

Jaydo deeply says, "I am Jaydo Deleros."

Jaydo bows.

Speaking to Jaydo, Aphaedra says, "I am sorry love. I should have introduced you."

Speaking politely to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "A pleasure."

Jaydo smiles.

Aphaedra says, "I do apologize for the heavy weight of what we have brought."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "I do not believe Councillor Sorlu has had the pleasure of meeting either of you."

Aphaedra laughs!

Jaydo chuckles.

Aphaedra nods to Aliashyrah.

Sorlu agrees with Aliashyrah.

Aphaedra exclaims, "You are correct!"

Aphaedra curtsies to Sorlu.

Jaydo agrees with Aliashyrah.

Sorlu smiles at Aphaedra.

Aphaedra says, "I am Aphaedra Aandryl-Deleros."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "A pleasure."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "My brother is head of the Aandryl family in Ta'Vaalor."

Aliashyrah politely says, "Though I am certain his reputation precedes him, this is Councillor Sorlu Jae'Kym Nalfein, one of four sitting councillors of Icemule Trace."

Jaydo grunts.

Sorlu says, "Ah, very good. I believe I have heard of this family before...one that is highly respected."

Jaydo dusts off the heavy backpack in his hand.

Aphaedra curtsies.

Sorlu smiles at Aliashyrah.

Aphaedra says, "Thank you for your kind words. We are rather good friends with Councillor Opalina."

Sorlu says, "Life in Icemule is harsh at times. Not even all of our Councillors survive."

Sorlu grins at Aliashyrah.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "Likewise, it is a pleasure to meet a face to the reputation."

Jaydo smiles.

Aphaedra nods.

Sorlu smiles at Jaydo.

Aliashyrah chuckles at Sorlu.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah informs, "I had the pleasure of meeting our guests at the meal held in Ta'Vaalor last Leyan."

Sorlu nods slowly to Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra exclaims, "She was quite lovely!"

Jaydo grunts.

Sorlu says, "I heard the food was exeptional."

Aphaedra smiles.

Jaydo nods once to Aliashyrah.

Sorlu smiles at Aphaedra.

Aphaedra says, "We worked very hard on the menu to make sure we accounted for all tastes."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "She is a warm hearted soul, indeed. Very well beloved around here.."

Sorlu says, "Well, by most."

Sorlu nods.

Aphaedra smiles.

Aliashyrah smiles quietly to herself.

Aliashyrah chuckles at Sorlu.

Jaydo deeply comments, "Needed more meat."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "I was disappointed I did not get a chance to meet you then."

Aphaedra laughs at Jaydo!

Jaydo smirks.

Aliashyrah says, "It doese the citizens of Ta'Vaalor credit that our words, though difficult to hear, did not fall on deaf ears."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "But I am glad she made such a good impression."

Speaking to Jaydo, Aphaedra says, "You always say that."

Aphaedra gives Jaydo a gentle pat.

Jaydo deeply says, "I must confess, some of the chosen cuisine was a tad....above my paygrade..."

Jaydo chuckles to himself.

Aphaedra grins at Jaydo.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "Perhaps in the future, I will find the opportunity to visit Ta'Vaalor. It has been a good while since I have stepped foot in that city."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "I would love to host you should you choose to visit our city."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "The meal itself was rather a work of art, from presentation to taste, along with expert accompanyment."

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo says, "I must confess, I felt a bit self conscious dining on such luxury while we're discussing people who are struggling to survive."

Aphaedra agrees with Jaydo.

Jaydo grins crookedly.

Speaking to Jaydo, Aphaedra says, "I completely agree."

Aliashyrah nods slowly at Jaydo.

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Speaking to Jaydo, Aliashyrah says, "I found myself unable to partake of the meal, though I enjoyed the hospitality and sincerity behind it just the same."

Jaydo deeply says, "Who may I..."

Aphaedra says, "We have been quite lucky this harvest and hope that what we have brought will help fill some hungry bellies this evening."

Jaydo smiles.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "Yes. It is an unfortunate thing, the hunger that has been brought to many of the Icemule residents due to this current....friction."

Aphaedra nods at Sorlu.

Jaydo slowly empties his lungs.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "Tensions aside, no one should ever go hungry. Especially not children. Those of us who are in higher positions rarely suffer as the working class do."

Sorlu nods in agreement.

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Aphaedra.

Aphaedra says, "I was not always Lady Aandryl and remember those lean times well."

Aliashyrah says, "Your words do you credit, Lady Aandryl."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "Indeed. It is not for myself that I worry, but for the common folk."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Aphaedra agrees with Sorlu.

Sorlu asks, "Will the two of you be staying in town, or will you be departing this evening?"

Jaydo grunts.

Aphaedra says, "We will probably head to our home in Solhaven."

Jaydo smirks.

Aphaedra says, "My Jaydo is a citizen there."

Jaydo nods once.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "I heard they are holding court this evening. We had hoped to attend if all matters are sorted here in time."

Aphaedra nods.

Jaydo agrees with Aliashyrah.

Jaydo deeply says, "Our thoughts exactly."

Jaydo smiles.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Aphaedra says, "Perhaps we shall stay to attend that."

Sorlu nods.

Aphaedra says, "Here. Let us hand you what we brought."

Aphaedra offers Sorlu a heavy backpack.

Jaydo deeply says, "It is quite a heavy load..."

Jaydo walks toward Aliashyrah.

Jaydo offers Aliashyrah a heavy backpack.

Aliashyrah accepts Jaydo's offer.

Jaydo smiles.

In the heavy backpack:

Food/Drink [200]: a brown gak shank (100), a black rolton shank (100)

Total items: 200

Jaydo nods.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu asks, "Aliashyrah, would you mind holding that?"

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Jaydo.

Aphaedra says, "And if there is anything that you think your people could need, please let us know."

Aliashyrah chuckles at Sorlu.

Aliashyrah puts a heavy backpack on her back.

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo says, "But i believe you are up to the challenge."

Jaydo smirks.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "I can attempt."

Jaydo twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Raising his arms slightly, Jaydo arches his back and gently lets his head rock back.

Jaydo grunts.

Aphaedra offers Aliashyrah a heavy backpack.

Jaydo winces.

Aliashyrah ponders.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "Let me summon some help."

Jaydo deeply says, "That...may be too much I'm afraid..."

Aphaedra nods.

Sorlu says, "I can call for.."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Aphaedra says, "Good idea."

Jaydo nods once.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "Yes. Diddle has been slacking as of late. He needs to be put to work."

Aphaedra says, "I believe I saw the hull of my ship rise up a foot when we disembarked."

Aphaedra grins.

Sorlu says, "Or perhaps...Dreska."

Sorlu grins at Aphaedra.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "I believe Dreska may be best."

Preceded by a droning whine, the Firebird soars into view as it begins its descent from the skies.

Jaydo deeply says, "The Club members worked very hard to gather as much as they could in a short span of time."

Aliashyrah glances up.

Sorlu tilts his head up.

Jaydo glances up.

Jaydo smirks.

Jaydo deeply says, "An impressive sight..."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "It always warms my heart to see the Firebird appear."

Aphaedra agrees with Jaydo.

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Grand Lady Opalina just arrived.

Jaydo grins slowly at Opalina.

Opalina gives Jaydo a friendly hug.

Opalina gives Aphaedra a friendly hug.

Aphaedra smiles at Opalina.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "You should meeting the captain, Brashton. Quite the character."

Aphaedra gives Opalina a friendly hug.

With straightened posture and a firm chin, Sorlu presents himself to Opalina with a short, courteous bow.

Jaydo raises an eyebrow in Sorlu's direction.

Jaydo grunts.

Speaking politely to Opalina, Sorlu says, "Good evening, Councillor."

Speaking to Opalina, Aphaedra exclaims, "My dear friend! How lovely to see you!"

The Firebird lands nearby, the sound of its engines dimming away.

Jaydo deeply says, "I hope to."

Opalina curtsies to Aliashyrah.

Opalina curtsies to Sorlu.

Straightening her back, Aliashyrah gives a formal, low curtsy to Opalina. She inclines her head as well, giving Opalina a brief nod.

Dreska just arrived.

Opalina quietly says, "Speaking of the firebird."

Speaking to Opalina, Aliashyrah says, "Good evening, Councilwoman."

Sorlu smiles at Dreska.

Aphaedra curtsies to Dreska.

Speaking deeply to Opalina, Jaydo says, "An honor to see you, m'Lady."

Jaydo blinks.

Speaking nervously to Sorlu, Dreska asks, "You summoned?"

Sorlu adopts an agreeable expression.

Jaydo chuckles to himself.

Opalina quietly says, "The honor is mine Sorlu also summoned me."

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Our friends have brought quite a few things that we need delivered to town."

Speaking to Dreska, Aphaedra says, "I apologize for the weight."

Dreska turns to face Aphaedra.

Aphaedra offers Dreska a heavy backpack.

Opalina quietly says, "Oh my."

Jaydo deeply says, "As I was saying....we worked to gather as much as we could..."

Jaydo chuckles.

Aphaedra smiles.

Dreska puts on her samite wool mittens and slaps her hands together.

Jaydo deeply says, "But we also wanted to act quickly."

Dreska accepts Aphaedra's heavy backpack.

Aphaedra says, "And if there is more that is needed, please do let us know."

Aphaedra offers Opalina a heavy backpack.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu jokes, "It seems you alone are stronger than most of our people."

Speaking submissively to Aphaedra, Dreska says, "It is no burden, M'Lady."

Opalina accepts Aphaedra's heavy backpack.

Opalina winces.

Jaydo grins slowly.

Jaydo gazes fondly at Aphaedra.

Crossing her arms behind her back, Dreska falls into a deep and graceful curtsy at Aphaedra's feet that leaves her nearly on the ground.

Aphaedra chuckles.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "I am often underestimated for my size."

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "We will be auditing the contents, just so you know..."

Sorlu nods at Dreska.

Opalina quietly exclaims, "These are quite heavy!"

Opalina gazes in awe at Aphaedra.

Dreska gulps.

Dreska nods quickly!

Opalina gazes fondly at Sorlu.

Sorlu grins at Aphaedra.

Opalina gazes fondly at Jaydo.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "My wife feels very strongly about helping people."

Jaydo rubs Aphaedra tenderly.

Speaking to Sorlu, Dreska stammers, "Certainly, Master. I will deliver them where needed and not even open the pack."

Aphaedra smiles at Jaydo.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "An amazing trait to have in a wife."

Sorlu smiles at Jaydo.

Aliashyrah agrees with Sorlu.

Jaydo grins slowly.

Sorlu nods at Dreska.

Opalina quietly says, "You should come into town. let us show you around."

Sorlu adopts an agreeable expression.

Aphaedra nods.

Jaydo raises an eyebrow.

Jaydo smirks.

Jaydo glances at Aphaedra.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "The citizens of Ta'Vaalor have shown only kindness and warmth."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Jaydo deeply says, "As always, I follow my captain."

Aphaedra gives Jaydo a lingering kiss on the cheek.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah adds, "A rather stark contrast to the more official reception from the Lord Chamberlain."

Opalina joins Sorlu's group.

Aliashyrah frowns.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "Yes, they have shown much more kindness than their leadership has thus far."

Aphaedra says, "I would love to have a tour of your fair city."

Sorlu smirks.

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Sorlu.

Jaydo sighs.

Aphaedra joins Sorlu's group.

Opalina ponders.

Jaydo joins Sorlu's group.

Dreska squirms and fidgets oddly for a moment.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "I wish that I could speak for them, sir."

Speaking timidly to Sorlu, Dreska asks, "Where should I take this, Master?"

Aliashyrah takes a heavy backpack off of her back.

Speaking quietly to Aliashyrah, Opalina says, "Perhaps the Chamberlain has to be tough to weed out the beggers and the real folks in need."

Jaydo gives Aphaedra a lingering kiss on the hand.

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Take that to Clovertooth. I will catch up with you there shortly."

Aliashyrah offers Dreska a heavy backpack.

Aphaedra curtsies to Dreska.

Speaking to Dreska, Aphaedra says, "Thank you again for your hlep."

Jaydo stops guarding Aphaedra.

Aphaedra smiles at Dreska.

Dreska accepts the offer and is now holding a heavy backpack.

Jaydo moves over to Aphaedra and stands ready to guard her from attack.

Dreska wobbles, looking a bit faint.

Jaydo grunts.

Aphaedra grins at Jaydo.

Sorlu asks, "To town, then?"

Speaking to Dreska, Aphaedra says, "I truly am sorry for the weight."

Aphaedra nods at Sorlu.

Jaydo smirks at Aphaedra.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Dreska admits, "I am afraid if I curtsy I may not straighten."

Jaydo nods once at Sorlu.

Aliashyrah glares at Dreska.

Aphaedra grins at Dreska.

Aphaedra nods at Dreska.

Sorlu gazes in amusement at Dreska.

Jaydo begins chuckling at Dreska!

Speaking to Dreska, Aphaedra exclaims, "Of course! It is quite heavy!"

Speaking to Dreska, Aliashyrah admonishes, "Be thankful. Their gifts will feed many."

Sorlu agrees with Aliashyrah.

Dreska blushes a delicate shade of pale pink.

Jaydo deeply offers, "Of course, I could help carry them to the ship..."

Dreska blushes and babbles a few incoherent words, looking sincerely flustered.

Jaydo blushes a delicate shade of pale pink.

Sorlu says, "Let us go then. The wind is especially biting this evening."

Opalina quietly says, "The children will not starve this evening."

Sorlu quickly turns on the heel of one of his leather boots.

Journey to Icemule

[Frostmain Docks, Shoreline]

Sprouting from a shore of black sand and sharp stone, the docks are an aging trident of planks that stretch out into the forbidding waters of the Frostmain. Chunks of ice born from the vast white icebergs not far offshore bob in the dark water to the seaward side of the walk. Despite the cold, silvery fish dart in the dark waters, little bothered by the frigid tides in which they swim. You also see a grey oak gangplank and a grey pine sloop.

Opalina praises Aphaedra.

[The Frostmain, Shore]

Frigid winds whip the black sand shoreline as it clings to sheer, dark bluffs of basalt as if pinned between the stone and sea. Salt is heavy on the icy breeze. Leading up to an old dock of time-silvered wood, the stone-strewn sands are spattered with white droppings. A switchback trail climbs to the lip of a ridge crowning the bluffs. You also see a gaunt dock master.

Jaydo sighs.

Opalina praises Jaydo.

Jaydo nods understandingly.

[Olbin Delta, Highland Ridge]

The ridge overlooks an unforgiving shoreline of black sand that stretches a long way before it is devoured by the frigid waters of the ocean. Between the ridge and the shore is a steep cliff face scattered with jagged rocks and gravel, a switchback trail cutting across it to allow access to old docks stretching out into the water. A rise to the east flows gracefully down toward an expanse of highland dotted with clumps of snow and alpine wildlfowers.

Aphaedra smiles.

[Olbin Delta, Broken Statue]

Atop the high hill stands a statue of black volcanic stone, its features corroded by the ocean air and eroded by the snow and storms. Broken in half, the statue's lower legs strike a heroic posture, oriented toward the ice-dotted sea to the northwest. The remains are scattered amidst the snowy grasses covering the hilltop. Only a faint hint of salt seasons the air, which is otherwise crisp and clear.

Aphaedra says, "It was the least we could do."

[Olbin Delta, Barrow]

A barrow has been cut into the face of a high hill that disturbs the flatlands of the delta. Heavy stones, some nearly the size of boulders, have been piled in front of the entrance. Great furrows in the ground lead to the west, hinting at how the stones were moved. They have been in place long enough to boast a filigree of iseya lichen, the brightly colored flora blanketing the rocks in teal and silver colonies.

[Olbin Delta, Meadow]

The meadow stretches over an expanse of hilly terrain that seems to grow less flat to the north and west as the land rises away from one of the river's smaller forks. Wildflowers are plentiful, colluding with the abundant grasses, verdant green and vibrantly red, to clash with the greys and whites in the distance. Far to the northeast, the Sleeping Ladies are clad in snows and crowned with clouds.

[Olbin Delta, Meadow]

A distributary of the Olbin laps at the shores of a small meadow that is dusted with snowfall. Ice clings to the high grasses and glitters like a scattering of jewels over the wildflowers that have somehow managed to thrive in the strath's limited protection from the cold. The ground is sodden rather than frozen, as if the river is occasionally discontent to stay within its appointed bounds.

[Olbin Delta, Covered Bridge]

Moss flourishes in the cracks of a covered stone bridge spanning a shallow distributary of the river that gives the valley its name. Fish thrive in the clear waters below, gleaming with scales in colors reminiscent of coins: brazen golds, dusky silvers, and ruddy coppers. Above the entrance to the bridge is a carved effigy that looks like a bramble branch silhouetted against a moon.

[Olbin Strath, Covered Bridge]

A shallow, rock-strewn fork of the Olbin cuts through the roadway, whispering through the high red and green grasses clinging to the banks. A bridge of stone, sharp edges worn down by long years of hard wind and snowfall, spans the river. Grotesques are perched along its rooftop, but the same wear has dwindled them down to mere suggestions of figures that have more in common with melted candles than statues.

Dreska just arrived at a covered stone bridge.

Dreska just went southeast.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

Near a fork in the road sits a broken mule cart, abandoned and askew. One of its wheels is missing, but another is sunken into the earth. The metal of it is spotted heavily with rust and has corroded through in places, as if it has been there for some time. Mulefoot fungus has flourished in the shadow of the abandoned vehicle, fleshy, green, and shaped like a mule's hooves.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

The road grows thin and tenuous, red grasses sprouting from the scarce-trodden dirt. It coils through a strand of white-clad elm and spruce, the trees' boles teal and silver with the growth of iseya lichen. Their leaves occlude the path entirely in places as it bends away from the banks of the Olbin.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

The road births a smaller trail that meanders southeast through a small plot of untended farmland. A scarecrow, his shoulders stained white with droppings, marks the fork. Crows have left glittering prizes--red and blue glass, silver tinsel, and even a few pieces of obsidian--at the base of the mannequin as if in tribute to his ineffectiveness.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

Far from the road, farms cling to the rolling land to the south, thinning in number as hillocks grow into proper hills. A few have tended fields, but just as many are overgrown, the wilds racing to reclaim land that cultivation stole. The closest field is choked by wild crallisberries, their fruits white as bone amid the verdant greenery.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

Two paths, one northern and the other southern, converge to from a wide dirt road that plunges between two hills as it descends toward the west. Here and there are signs of old habitation: patches of gravel and cobblestone that have been lost over the years, leaving behind only denuded dirt. The hillocks are crowned with patches of blue iceblossom, and the gold-tipped flowers sway gently in the breeze coming off the river.

Speaking amusedly to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "Even burdened so, she remembers how to run."

Aliashyrah chuckles.

Jaydo chuckles.

Sorlu says, "You might note all the destruction done to our farms here to the west of Icemule."

Sorlu says, "Courtesy of the wicked Zeban."

Sorlu frowns.

Aphaedra nods.

[Olbin Strath, Farm Road]

Half-concealed by a stand of young hoarbeams, an old pinewood sign leans crookedly away from the road. The trees have shed a gentle blanket of needles onto the road. Dark purple cones amongst the greenery present an added hazard on the way, which is slick with ice in places.

Aliashyrah nods.

Aphaedra says, "That is truly heartbreaking."

[Olbin Strath, Roadway]

The roadway splits around a vast granite boulder, the full size of which is concealed by a white blanket of fresh-fallen snow. As it descends toward the northwest, the path is flanked by hardy scrub that gives way to stony banks. The main road veers sharply southwest, the hardpack permanently marred by the crisscross of wagon wheels and the even punctuation of mule prints.

Sorlu nods at Aphaedra.

[Olbin Strath, Roadway]

The roadway cuts between small banks of fresh snow, the diamond powder glowing faintly in the moonlight. Here and there, banks of resting poppy poke pink, periwinkle, and purple heads out of the glinting snowfall, their leaves a bluer shade of green than the needles of the Olbin spruces growing further from the roadside. A patch of wintersbite has grown across the road, the intrusive little creeper's vines stretching delicately over the hardpack.

Jaydo nods slowly.

[Olbin Strath, Ridge]

The wide, sloping strath cradling the rushing waters of the Olbin is shielded from the worst of the wind and cold by the smallest sisters of the Sleeping Lady mountains in the north and high hills in the south. Here and there, hardy greens peek from amidst the snowbanks, with even a few wildflowers brightly announcing their presence. A roadway has been worn into the cold earth, beginning at an ice-slicked ridge climbing toward a pair of hillocks and lazing westward through the valley's meadows and farmland.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "It is part of what complicates the trade situation currently."

[Ice Plains, Hill Base]

Two ranges of hills embrace a valley swathed in deep drifts of snow. Travel further along the path without getting lost beneath the snow might be possible, with some luck. The wind is not as noticeable in this area, as the abounding hills provide some protection from its cruelty. A descending ridge heading westward is mostly clear of snowfall.

Aphaedra agrees with Aliashyrah.

[Ice Plains, Hill Base]

The valley is covered with snow and there seems to be no sign of life in this harsh environment. A cold blast of wind blows through, sending a cold chill up your spine making your teeth chatter. The skeleton of an oak tree stands at the bottom of the small hill, the only indication that life was ever possible here.

[Ice Plains, Hill Base]

This small path guides you along the west side of the foothill through drifts of snow that cover the path in several places. The surrounding hills stretch off as far as the eye can see leaving you looking at a blank, snow-covered landscape.

[Ice Plains, Hill Base]

A small path leads towards the foothill and forks sharply here with another path heading north and a well-worn, wider path headed east. A massive rolaren gate blocks the path to the east with solid, snow-covered stone walls on both sides of the gate. You also see a narrow trail.

Aphaedra asks, "Does much grow in your snows here?"

Jaydo deeply says, "Zeban."

[Icemule Trace, Secluded Path]

The snow is deep along this part of the path making it difficult to travel very quickly. Directly in front of you are several large foothills that stretch out to the west and continue on to the north. A narrow path is cut from the snow and leads along one of the valleys between the two foremost hills. It appears to be unused but with the snow and ice around you it would be hard to tell if anything had been by here recently. You also see a narrow trail.

[Icemule Trace, Secluded Path]

The path here is a bit more visible and the wind in the area is calmer than you've encountered thus far. In the distance to the west you see some foothills rising off the horizon.

[Icemule Trace, Secluded Path]

The trail is less visible here but the drifts of snow are set along either side protecting it from being lost completely. There is little to see across the barren landscape save for a few small evergreen trees with icicles dangling from their limbs. You also see a spade-tipped spiraled steel gate festooned with blue and white pennants.

[Icemule Trace, Snow Drifts]

The area around you is barren except for patches of grass that poke through the snow along this rough trail. You see the familiar walls of Icemule Trace in the distance but are too far away to see the gate.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "With so much that has already been overcome by the citizens and good people here, to lose such crucial trade was a devastating blow."

[Icemule Trace, West Gate]

The wind whistles around you as it passes along this side of the town walls. The road leading up to the gate itself is merely a dirt path but you notice it has seen some extensive use. A huge snowbank is off to one side from all the snow being removed in front of the gates. Just to the south of the gate is a stout building with a large sign over the door that reads "The Icehouse Tavern". You also see Guard Private Witlass and the west gates.

Aphaedra says, "I apologize for being so ignorant of your growing practices."

Witlass stares out into the distance, his eyes glazing over as if there is not a thought in his head.

Jaydo nods understandingly.

Sorlu rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Aphaedra nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "The farmers are skilled and have learned to work the land in creative ways."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "Though it is difficult to picture with things as they now are, those lands once flourished and in time may again."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "We are able to grtow a fair amount. The halflings are quite clever int heir ability to grow food from even a frozen ground. However, with so many of their farms destroyed..."

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Sorlu.

Sorlu says, "Beyond that, I am no farmer. I know not of their ways."

Opalina nods.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Aphaedra says, "We are doing what we can to find out why Briarmoon Cove has made their choices. If something sinister is afoot we Vaalorians wish to know just as much as you."

[West Barbican, Gate]

Under the massive barbican is a shadowy passageway, with sturdy stone walls on each side and overhead. Iron-barred windows provide access to this area from each of the barbican towers as well as from overhead, creating the distinct impression that someone is watching from the shadows. The sharp spikes of raised portcullises jut from the ceiling at the eastern entrance to the city and the western exit to the wilds.

Aphaedra nods at Sorlu.

[Icemule Trace, West Road]

The cobblestone road ends at the large western gate here. Through the gate you see vast plains of grass about as tall as a halfling, with very few trees for cover. You also see a sand devil's food doughnut, the western town gate and an old beer barrel.

Sorlu nods at Aphaedra.

Aliashyrah nods slightly.

Aphaedra says, "Such a thing is devestating."

[Icemule Trace, West Road]

On the north side of the cobblestone road everything seems quiet, almost too quiet. To the south, you can hear the rowdy shouts of people in the taverns and the gaming hall. You also see a sand devil's food doughnut.

[Icemule Trace, West Road]

The cobblestone road continues east and west between the narrow buildings. To the east the foot traffic seems to grow considerably worse. A gate is just visible at the western end of the road. You also see a cobblestone walkway.

[Icemule Trace, West Road]

Groups of boisterous and cheerful halflings pass by rapidly. Most of them seem to be heading south towards the Tavern Burrow for entertainment or refreshment. An old, drunk halfling sits in a doorway, alternating between singing at the top of his lungs and munching on a tart. You also see a sand devil's food doughnut.

[Icemule Trace, West Road]

Travellers go by at a dizzying pace. It is difficult to walk by without running into one of them. Walking sideways seems to be the only way to make any progress down the road. You also see a fresh iced doughnut and a small fired brick building.

In the Center of Town

[Icemule Trace, Town Center]

The center of the slumbering frontier town is overseen by a sturdy mule statue carved from glacial ice, which rises from the surrounding snow on a plinth of cold dark stone. The brilliance of the stars winks through the ice, casting prismatic glints of light over a scattering of townsfolk. Some halflings chatter quietly by a colorful silver-bound barrel emblazoned with a row of tiny grey penguins, while others stargaze on colorful cloaks spread out across the hard ground. Near the comfort of a smooth dark stone bench, a roaring bonfire crackles merrily, lending its warmth and illumination to the surroundings. You also see the Balren disk, a skeletal blue wolf, a skeletal great white wolf, the earth brown Tasaval disk, a fidgety towheaded boy, the mist-hazed Noctiss disk, a black and white penguin candle bedecked in a tiny bowtie, a vine-carved cherrywood cart with some stuff on it, a blued steel wastebin and a blue and white pavilion.

Also here: Lady Aphaedra, Jaydo, Grand Lady Opalina, Lord Sorlu, Balren, Renowned Lady Satrn who is sitting, Hathus, Davean, Grand Lord Falvicar, Avalan, Lord Firemizar, Tasaval, Jebo who is sitting, Noctiss

Opalina wraps Falvicar in a tender embrace.

Aphaedra gasps.

Aphaedra exclaims, "Jebo!"

Opalina laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.

Jaydo smirks.

Jebo heartily says, "Aphaedra."

Sorlu nods to Falvicar in greeting.

Jebo grins.

Opalina leans on Jebo, giving him a companionable grin.

Aphaedra gives Jebo a friendly hug.

Jaydo deeply says, "Now this, I recognize."

Jaydo smiles.

Jebo gives Aphaedra a friendly hug.

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra exclaims, "My friend! It has been too long!"

Jaydo bows to Falvicar.

Falvicar pulls Opalina closer to himself.

Falvicar drools.

Jebo gives Opalina a friendly hug.

Falvicar kisses Opalina for what seems like an eternity.

Jaydo begins chuckling at Falvicar!

Opalina shows Falvicar her heavy backpack.

Aliashyrah says, "Despite all that Icemule has faced and still faces, the bonfire still burns strong."

Aphaedra kisses Jebo tenderly on the cheek.

A fidgety towheaded boy gleefully jots something down on the piece of parchment he holds, his quill pen flying with astounding speed. His handwriting is correspondingly abysmal.

Aphaedra smiles at Aliashyrah.

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking heartily to Aphaedra, Jebo exclaims, "Long time how have you been!"

Falvicar smiles at Opalina.

Jaydo grunts.

Falvicar wiggles his ears at Jaydo.

Sorlu glances at a fidgety towheaded boy.

Jaydo nods encouragingly to Aliashyrah.

Opalina quietly says, "Falvicar Can you carry this for me it's too heavy for me Im starting to buckle under the weight."

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra asks, "I am well. Have you met my husband, Jaydo?"

Sorlu grins at Opalina.

Speaking quietly to Sorlu, Opalina asks, "Where are we taking this?"

Speaking to Opalina, Falvicar says, "Anything for you my love. Even the world."

Jebo heartily says, "Oh no."

Falvicar winks at Opalina with a suggestive glint in his eyes.

Opalina offers Falvicar a heavy backpack.

Aphaedra blushes a soft apricot shade at Opalina.

Falvicar accepts Opalina's heavy backpack.

Jebo stands up.

Jaydo grunts.

Speaking to Opalina, Aliashyrah says, "I believe Dreska was sent to Clovertooth."

Jaydo smiles.

Jebo bows to Jaydo.

Jaydo bows to Jebo.

Speaking to Opalina, Aphaedra says, "I truly am sorry."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Jebo sits down.

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "We brought food from Vaalor."

Falvicar wiggles his ears at Aliashyrah.

Opalina quietly says, "Your kindness is beyond amazing."

Speaking deeply to Jebo, Jaydo says, "Jaydo Deleros, a pleasure, sir."

Speaking to Opalina, Sorlu says, "We will need to gather soon, and discuss the best methods to distrubute this amongst those who need it."

Opalina quietly says, "Very generous and helpful."

Speaking to Opalina, Aliashyrah says, "Though I doubt she knows where to go beyond that. I am certain with the Mayor's help, we can get the guards and perhaps volunteers to begin to deliver food to the most needy."

Jaydo nods once at Sorlu.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "Jebo is an old friend of mine. He stitched me up more than once."

Speaking heartily to Jaydo, Jebo says, "Got yer hands full good luck hehe."

Sorlu grins at Aphaedra.

Aphaedra chuckles.

Jebo nods.

Jaydo smiles.

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "He does, but he is quite capable."

Speaking deeply to Jebo, Jaydo says, "And then some, sir."

Aphaedra gazes lovingly at Jaydo.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "A good trait to have in a friend."

Sorlu grins at Aphaedra.

Falvicar moves to Opalina's side and they lace their fingers together.

Aphaedra grins at Sorlu.

Opalina quietly says, "We will go take care of that."

Grand Lady Opalina's group just went east.

Speaking deeply to Jebo, Jaydo says, "So far I am up to the task."

Jaydo chuckles.

Aphaedra agrees with Jaydo.

Jebo heartily says, "Aye when i stayed in that city a long times much more like here than folks like to admit."

Jaydo deeply says, "It has been quite a while since we've visited."

Jebo heartily says, "Well used to be."

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "I am curious..."

Sorlu cocks his head at Jaydo.

Aphaedra says, "This is a very warm and inviting place for sure."

Jaydo bites his lip.

Jebo nods.

Jaydo grunts.

Jebo beams happily at Aphaedra!

Aphaedra gives Jebo a friendly hug.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "Apologies. perhaps this isn't the proper forum to ask such questions."

Jebo heartily says, "I am glad too see thee."

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "I am so happy to see you again."

Aphaedra giggles.

Jebo nods.

Jebo heartily says, "I almost fainted when i heard your thoughts in the air."

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "We are much less formal in Icemule than in other places. If there is something on your mind, we encourage you to speak it openly."

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Aphaedra begins chuckling at Jebo!

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "I am just very curious as to the series of events leading to Briarmoon Cove breaking off trade with you...."

Speaking playfully to Jaydo, Aliashyrah warns, "You have already felt the sting of our open and frank communication, and can likely expect more."

Jebo heartily says, "Hmm."

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "Much has happened since we saw each other last."

Jaydo starts chuckling at Aliashyrah!

Aphaedra chuckles.

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo says, "That, I cannot argue, m'Lady."

Aphaedra rubs Jaydo tenderly.

Jebo heartily says, "Aye i believe there was another with a sister."

Aphaedra nods at Jebo.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "I am as well. It was quite unexpected, I assure you. None would have assumed that Ta'Vaalor would take things so far."

Jebo heartily says, "Havin trouble wif names."

Jaydo narrows his eyes.

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "That... did not last. I am sure that is quite shocking."

Aliashyrah smiles quietly to herself.

Jebo heartily says, "Yeah no."

Aphaedra rubs Jaydo tenderly.

Jaydo nods slowly.

Jebo heartily says, "I shoulda stayed around."

Jebo snaps his fingers.

Aphaedra laughs at Jebo!

Speaking to Jaydo, Aliashyrah says, "We were informed, quite summirarily that Briarmoon Cove had entered an exclusive trade agreement, as they turned our goods away."

Jebo giggles.

Jaydo grunts.

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo comments, "That sounds...unpleasant."

Aphaedra agrees with Jaydo.

Speaking to Jaydo, Aphaedra says, "It does, my love."

Speaking to Jaydo, Aliashyrah says, "From everything the Mayor has been able to gather, it was Ta'Vaalor who suggested that it be exclusive, though I am aware that the Lord Chamberlain says otherwise."

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "Briarmoon was someone we had traded with for many, many years. They made a great deal of silver from us, and in return we received much to assist our townsfolk surviving the winter. To have that snatched away was quite a blow."

Jaydo nods in agreement to Aliashyrah.

Jaydo deeply says, "He does."

As if he cannot take standing still a moment longer, a fidgety towheaded boy races south.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "I can imagine so."

Jaydo nods understandingly.

Jaydo ponders.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "It does not benefit us to have a singular agreement with them, so that makes me wonder where are the lies coming from."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "And I aim to find out."

Speaking casually to Jaydo, Aliashyrah mentions, "Though at this point, with the continued actions from your leadership, it would seem Briarmoon Cove may soon be the least of our worries."

Sorlu says, "I can not imagine any path in which Briarmoon would refuse us, and insist upon an exclusive agreement with Ta'Vaalor. It makes little sense for it to have played out the way the officials of Ta'Vaalor are claiming."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking carefully to Sorlu, Aliashyrah adds, "And in light of what we have seen since..."

Jaydo grunts.

Sorlu says, "Especially as we now have.."

Jaydo slowly empties his lungs.

Sorlu continues, "As Aliashyrah was saying, the trouble with Briarmoon is now quite secondary to the fact that Vaalorian soldiers have begun building an outpost nearby."

Sorlu says, "For ground troops."

Sorlu frowns.

Aliashyrah nods slowly.

Aliashyrah says, "Something again, dismissed by the leadership in Ta'Vaalor and that those at the dinner seemed quite unaware of."

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo asks, "This has been witnessed with your own eyes, sir?"

Aliashyrah shakes her head.

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Aliashyrah nods at Jaydo.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "Yes, and many others."

Aphaedra says, "That is greatly concerning."

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "We were not able to reach the location, but we have certainly caught sight of it...as well as heard the sounds of ongoing construction."

Aphaedra says, "There are many answers to why that is happening, and none of them good."

Svardin says, "Dey tryin ta lure Fleabag somewhere."

Sorlu agrees with Aphaedra.

Svardin twiddles his thumbs.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "It is especially concerning when it seems even the good citizens of Ta'Vaalor are being kept in the dark."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "Lord Aureliano is looking in on this as well. I have not many who are as good and honest as he is."

Aphaedra nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "We are not a large city, but we are a proud people. We will continue to resist these sort of offenses."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Aphaedra says, "Trust me, should there be dark dealings going on we will root them out."

Aliashyrah agrees with Sorlu.

Aphaedra nods.

Jaydo agrees with Aphaedra.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "You must keep your people safe. I understand this."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "I am quite curious to learn what he finds. I have met Lord Aureliano before, and he seems reliable."

Sorlu nods.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "It is my main concern."

Sorlu's mouth curves in an enigmatic smile, his eyes appearing to sparkle briefly.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "Frankly, I am concerned there is something going on to make us turn on each other."

Sorlu peers quizzically at Aphaedra.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Aliashyrah says, "Unfortunately, the actions of placing troops and building on Icemule land is not one that can be ignored."

Jaydo grunts.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "No one I know of wants anything but peace with Icemule, and I know that the good citizens of Icemule do not want war either. So who benefits from our nations at each others throats? That is what I am looking for."

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "It seems that Ta'Vaalor is prepared to protect their trade agreement with Briarmoon Cove."

Jaydo deeply says, "I do not believe there is any way around that."

Jaydo deeply says, "Mind you, I am only speaking for myself."

Aphaedra leans softly against Jaydo.

Speaking interestedly to Jaydo, Aliashyrah asks, "Is that how we should interpret this new development?"

Jaydo deeply says, "But...."

Jaydo sighs.

Svardin chuckles.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "Some are wondering if the good people of Ta'Vaalor are being told a mistruth. That perhaps the leaders are saying one thing while doing another."

Speaking to Jaydo, Aliashyrah asks, "Ta'Vaalor <protecting> their trade agreement?"

Aliashyrah chuckles to herself.

Aphaedra nods at Sorlu.

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "It has been brought up that Ta'Vaalor could be doing this to gain another vantage point in which to watch the Empire from the north."

Jaydo deeply says, "I also believe that they are prepared to help you get your trade back with Briarmoon Cove."

Svardin says, "Hmm."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "I hope that is not true."

Svardin says, "I recall some pirates from dat place."

Jebo gasps.

Svardin says, "Cap'n somethin."

Svardin says, "Rather shifty fella."

Speaking to a sturdy mule statue carved from glacial ice, Svardin asks, "Wha?"

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "Mind, I think the growth of the empire is a true concern and a matter all its own."

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Jaydo deeply says, "Vaalor is concerned with as well."

Jaydo bites his lip.

Aliashyrah says, "Perhaps there is a nefarious hidden power that attempts to orchestrate what happens, but I fear as things continue to develope, Icemule must respond or leave herself open and showing a weakness that cannot survive in a place as harsh as here."

Svardin giggles.

Jaydo nods slowly.

Svardin says, "Icemule is well defended."

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo admits, "I see that you are very passionate on this point."

Svardin says, "Many have tried to overwhelm us."

Sorlu says, "Icemule's people are quite on edge. We have the Empire in the south now drifting this way....as well as what seems to be the Nations stirring in the east, with their eyes upon us."

Sorlu slowly empties his lungs.

Jaydo nods respectfully at Sorlu.

Svardin says, "All have failed miserably."

Aliashyrah reaches over and gently rest her hand on Sorlu's arm.

Jaydo grunts.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "As Svardin says, Icemule is strong."

Svardin tries humming a joyful tune.

Jaydo grins crookedly.

Jaydo agrees with Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "Many have tried to paint me as a villian, but it is simply not the truth. Icemule matters to me, her people matter to me...they are family, and I will see them through this safely."

(Aphaedra tucks her hand into the crook of Jaydo's elbow.)

Svardin says, "Imperials have attacked here more than once and regretted the experience."

Svardin chuckles.

Aliashyrah gazes admiringly at Sorlu.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah commends, "Icemule chose well when she chose you to help guide her."

Svardin stands up.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "I am happy that we could talk face-to-face..."

Sorlu says, "And it is quite warming to my heart to see those willing to assist us as we make it through these times of trouble."

Aphaedra agrees with Jaydo.

Sorlu smiles.

Jaydo deeply says, "...and I'm glad at least our intentions shine through."

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "I am as well. I consider it quite an honor to have met with you this evening."

Aliashyrah nods in agreement at Sorlu.

Jebo heartily exclaims, "Shes great people!"

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "I can promise you, sir, that there are good people working long and hard to discover the truth of the matter."

Speaking to Aphaedra, Sorlu says, "And with you. You are both most certainly welcome within our walls anytime you are passing through the north."

Jaydo deeply says, "I only hope we can work together."

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Jaydo smiles.

Jaydo bows to Sorlu.

Svardin says, "Icemule always been a free, open an welcomin place."

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "Very good. Let us pray that we find our way, and soon, to the bitter truth...whatever it might be."

Aphaedra nods.

Jebo heartily says, "Ooo."

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "And I hope one day you can come back to the Fortress to enjoy what it has to offer."

Sorlu smiles.

Aliashyrah smiles.

Speaking to Jaydo, Sorlu says, "I look forward to that day of healing."

Sorlu nods at Jaydo.

Jaydo grunts.

Aliashyrah glances between Jaydo and Sorlu.

Jaydo nods firmly.

Jaydo rubs Aphaedra tenderly.

Aphaedra smiles at Jaydo.

Jaydo deeply says, "Well, then..."

Jaydo deeply says, "The conversation went longer than planned."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aphaedra says, "The citizens here are very kind and welcoming."

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah asks, "Perhaps we should see to the supplies and not detain our guests any longer?"

Sorlu nods in agreement at Aphaedra.

Speaking to Jebo, Aphaedra says, "I will see you later, my dear friend."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "Yes. I have thoughts coming into my mind asking about the logistics...we should work those out."

Aliashyrah agrees with Sorlu.

Straightening her back, Aliashyrah gives a formal, low curtsy to Jaydo. She inclines her head as well, giving Jaydo a brief nod.

Straightening her back, Aliashyrah gives a formal, low curtsy to Aphaedra. She inclines her head as well, giving Aphaedra a brief nod.

Jaydo chuckles.

Aphaedra curtsies to Aliashyrah.

Speaking deeply to Aliashyrah, Jaydo says, "Thank you...really."

Aphaedra curtsies to Sorlu.

Jaydo bows to Aliashyrah.

Sorlu removes the hat from atop his head.

Jaydo bows to Sorlu.

Sorlu bows to Aphaedra.

Sorlu bows to Jaydo.

Jaydo nods respectfully.

Aphaedra says, "Thank you for your time."

Aphaedra smiles.

Speaking deeply to Sorlu, Jaydo says, "And thank you, for the hospitality, and the good conversation."

Sorlu says, "And thank you both for your kindness. It will not go unknown."

Jaydo deeply offers, "Let us do it again sometime."

Sorlu dons his suede hat.

Jaydo smiles.

Jaydo joins Aphaedra's group.

Aphaedra waves.

Speaking to Jaydo, Aliashyrah says, "My thanks to you and all those who gathered these supplies. We shall be certain that it is known that the Ta'Vaalor social club is responsible for this kindness."

Sorlu agrees with Aliashyrah.

Jaydo deeply promises, "I will pass it along."

Aphaedra smiles at Jaydo.

Speaking deeply to Jebo, Jaydo says, "A pleasure meeting you as well."

Jaydo smiles.

Jaydo gives Aphaedra a lingering kiss on the cheek.

Aliashyrah curtsies to Sorlu and takes his arm, joining his group.

Jebo heartily says, "Aye indeed."

Jaydo nods once.

Sorlu smiles.

Aphaedra gazes lovingly at Jaydo.

[Travel to Mayor's Reception Room]

Plans to Store and Distribute the Gifts

[Mayor's Office, Reception]

Brightly lit by crystal-globed candles atop a caribou antler chandelier, the room is enclosed in walls of lacquered pine. Facing a blackened rock fireplace, a waiting couch of dark suede sits with its back to an imposing angular oak desk with neatly organized parchments atop it. A prim sylvankind secretary is seated behind the desk, which is positioned so that she can watch the entrance, visitors, and a riveted hoarbeam door leading to the mayor's office. You also see a prim sylvankind secretary and a chiseled marble arch leading to the hallway.

Also here: Lord Sorlu, Dreska, Grand Lord Falvicar, Grand Lady Opalina who is sitting

Sorlu smiles at Opalina.

Dreska squirms.

Speaking to Opalina, Sorlu says, "I apologize for keeping you waiting."

Falvicar nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Sorlu, Dreska apologizes, "There is no one to give these to yet."

Straightening her back, Aliashyrah gives a formal, low curtsy to Falvicar . She inclines her head as well, giving Falvicar a brief nod.

The secretary carefully peruses an official correspondence, handily taking notes with her free hand without even sparing a glance at what she is writing.

Falvicar glances at a heavy backpack in his hand.

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Councillor Opalina has suggested we might have a place to store them for now."

Speaking quietly to Sorlu, Opalina says, "No worries counciler."

Speaking nervously to Sorlu, Dreska asks, "Will you count before or after we store them?"

Speaking to a prim sylvankind secretary, Aliashyrah asks, "Is the mayor yet again indisposed?"

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Both. We will need to know if any are stolen."

Aliashyrah gazes with interest at a prim sylvankind secretary.

Speaking quickly to Sorlu, Dreska promises, "I have not let go of them and won't until you say I can."

Sorlu nods slowly at Dreska.

Opalina quietly says, "I honestly don't even know if there is room in the towers."

Opalina quietly says, "I am hoping we can make them fit somehow."

Sorlu grins.

Dreska shifts her weight, restlessly leaning back and forth.

Speaking quietly to Sorlu, Opalina says, "So far nothing has been tampered with."

Dreska shifts her weight, restlessly leaning back and forth.

Sorlu glances at Dreska.

Dreska wobbles, looking a bit faint.

Dreska stares downward.

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Surely it's not that heavy."

Dreska shakes her head.

Aliashyrah raises an eyebrow in Dreska's direction.

Speaking to Dreska, Aliashyrah scolds, "Do not be dramatic, Dreska. It is only two backpacks."

Falvicar smiles.

Opalina quietly asks, "Would you two care to join us in locating a safe location for the goods?"

Speaking regretfully to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "It would seem we will be missing court."

Opalina quietly says, "I was hoping to attend myself."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "Ah, I had not realized the time."

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu asks, "You now hold all that was brought, yes?"

Opalina quietly says, "No."

Aliashyrah gives a sigh of exasperation.

Opalina quietly says, "'Falvicar holds a backpack."

Falvicar says, "Hmm."

Falvicar nods.

Sorlu nods slowly.

Sorlu rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Falvicar says, "It's full of meat."

Speaking to a prim sylvankind secretary, Aliashyrah says, "The paperwork can wait. The Mayor needs to see to the hungry citizens."

Opalina quietly says, "If you want to give it to their slave she can hold it."

Dreska timidly says, "I have two."

Dreska grimaces with pain, pressing one hand against the small of her back.

Speaking to Opalina, Sorlu asks, "Will that backpack fit where you had suggested it might be stored?"

Opalina quietly says, "Sorry Servant."

Dreska wrings her hands.

Sorlu smiles at Opalina.

Falvicar takes a heavy backpack off his back.

Sorlu says, "Yes. Servant. Not slave."

Sorlu glances at Dreska.

Sorlu smiles at Dreska.

Speaking to Dreska, Falvicar asks, "Goign to be okay holding this?"

Falvicar says, "I mean no offense."

Dreska's face turns slightly pale.

Speaking quietly to Falvicar, Opalina says, "She will be fine."

Falvicar nods reassuringly at Dreska.

Sorlu agrees with Opalina.

Falvicar nods slowly.

Opalina quietly says, "You heard Sorlu."

Falvicar offers Dreska a heavy backpack.

Dreska's eyes widen as she trembles in quiet panic.

Sorlu appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Dreska stammers, "I...I need to..."

Speaking to Dreska, Falvicar says, "Please be careful."

Dreska carefully places her heavy backpack on the floor alongside her.

Dreska trembles.

Opalina examines Dreska closely, sizing her up and taking note of all the details.

Dreska quietly squeaks, "I can't."

Dreska picks up a heavy backpack from alongside her.

Dreska gulps.

Aliashyrah says, "I can hold the backpack if needed."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu asks, "Can you?"

Aliashyrah nods at Sorlu.

Falvicar nods appreciatively.

Falvicar offers Aliashyrah a heavy backpack.

Speaking to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "I gave mine to Dreska."

Aliashyrah puts a heavy backpack on her back.

Sorlu nods.

Falvicar says, "Much better."

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "We will get it worked out tonight."

Sorlu nods to Aliashyrah.

Speaking to Aliashyrah, Sorlu says, "Thank you."

Speaking demurely to Sorlu, Aliashyrah says, "I do what I can to help."

Dreska shifts her weight, restlessly leaning back and forth.

Dreska glances at Sorlu.

Aliashyrah looks at Dreska and shake her head.

Dreska blushes and babbles a few incoherent words, looking sincerely flustered.

Dreska stares downward.

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "You may go. I will summon you later."

Dreska asks, "Where should I go?"

Speaking to Dreska, Sorlu says, "Anywhere that the food is kept safe. You may return to my house, if you choose."

Dreska nods quickly!

Speaking to Sorlu, Dreska says, "Yes, Master Sorlu."

Sorlu smiles.

Sorlu nods once.

With one leg awkwardly placed behind the other, Dreska attempts to curtsy before Sorlu, only to stumble and almost fall.

Dreska suddenly stumbles for no apparent reason.

[Later that evening]

A Letter to Hazelnut

Rounding the corner onto Warlock's Way, Sorlu takes a moment to escape winter's bite by slipping inside his home. Having only a short amount of time before his next scheduled meeting, he moves to the writing table and quickly begins to put an inked quill to parchment. Several moments pass with only the sounds of Sorlu's quill scraping across the parchment and the tapping of metal on glass with each new application of ink. Once satisfied with the letter, he sits back to read over the words.

Dearest Hazelnut,

It is with the greatest joy that I write to you.

This previous evening, I had the immense pleasure to receive Jaydo Deleros and his wife, the Lady Aphaedra Aandryl-Deleros at the Frostmain Docks, as was heralded by a direct correspondence from her brother, the Lord Dezter Aandryl Vaalor.

This virtuous voyage was made after hearing of our plight and feeling the need to offer our good people aid. With them they brought not only the hope that the hostilities we suffer might soon end, but also a touch of relief in the form of a substantial amount of foodstuff designed to be distributed amongst the poorest and most vulnerable of our populace.

Apparently this effort was coordinated in conjunction with an organization known as the Ta’Vaalor Social Club. Assuming these provisions pass the careful inspection they are due, our appreciation should be extended to them as well. Perhaps sweet fruit can indeed still grow from an otherwise rotten tree.

As contact with Mayor Dabbings grows increasingly more difficult to obtain due to reasons yet to be made clear, I instead write to you to request your assistance. Few know the many individual families of Icemule as well as you, and such intimacy could greatly ensure that the impact is felt where it is needed most.

I hope to meet with you at your earliest possible convenience to begin this distribution, and wish to express a fair amount of urgency in this request. Much of the food is of a perishable nature, and is not easily stored indoors collectively due to the quantity.

I have tasked one I consider trustworthy to remain outside in the cold with these provisions to prevent spoilage. She has been instructed to be mindful of those that have already grown desperate in their hunger, though I fear the greatest threat might be the freeze in the air that has already begun to discolor the poor girl's nose and lips.

Lord Sorlu Jae'kym Nalfein
