(Wide-eyed with wonder, Thandiwe enters the scene. She finds a pouch on the ground.)
Thandiwe picks up a gear-edged soft suede pouch.
Thandiwe issues a series of clicks and whistles. Almost instantly, the mechanical carpenter ants attached to her soft suede pouch appear from within its confines and carry a mechanical bronze cicada into her waiting hand.
"What's this? What's this?"
Thandiwe nudges the cicada, which causes its iridescent wings to snap closed against its back.
"It flutters in the air.."
Thandiwe issues a series of clicks and whistles. Almost instantly, the mechanical carpenter ants attached to her soft suede pouch appear from within its confines and carry an alum and leather webworm into her waiting hand.
"What's this? What's this?"
Laying an alum and leather webworm on the open palm of her hand, Thandiwe gives the tiny worm a little nudge. Slowly, the segmented body ripples with motion and begins to mimic the movements of an inchworm. Forming its body into an arch and then stretching outward, the insect crawls about her hand.
"Does it spit stuff everywhere?"
Thandiwe gazes thoughtfully at her pouch, her lips moving as she counts what's inside.
"What is this?!"
Analyzing the pouch, she says, "Tinkerer's pouch?"
