Title: Unlikely Trio

Author: player of Charna Ja'Varrel'Kav

They stand about the village,
With bodies closely knit,
A mastiff laps at fingertips.
A friend, he seemed to fit.

By night they are the hunters-
All mirth gone from their play-
Weeding out aggressions,
From their path they never stray.

He hunts by speed and bow,
She by shadow and sword.
Dog by growl, snarl, and bite,
They are one, in true accord.

They are an unlikely trio,
One that somehow fate allowed.
Feather, Moon, and Dog,
To each other they are vowed.

She calls him by a name,
From lost forgotten lore.
From lands of ice and snow,
Ravaged once by war.

He calls her much the same,
His tongue she does not know,
From caverns hidden deep
And taken from him by woe.

The third player in this trio,
Comes by many different names-
Little brother, Protector,
The bi-peds this canine claims.

They are an unlikely trio,
One that somehow fate allowed.
Feather, Moon, and Dog,
To each other, they are vowed.

He's born beneath the earth,
This man that plays on fate's stage.
In our alien world he's thrown,
Hidden from a ruling matron's rage.

Dark of skin, hair of moonlight,
With eyes that flash like steel.
Taut of body, into light he came.
To the land he would not kneel.

He walks with feral power,
Coiled and hidden by hunter's grace.
And only with her near-
Does tenderness touch his face.

They are an unlikely trio,
One that somehow fate allowed.
Feather, Moon, and Dog,
To each other they are vowed.

Born above the clouds,
On mountain framed in ice.
She ran to the sea,
Hoping to avoid the price.

Her face is framed in red,
Her eyes innocent and wide.
Ashamed of what she is-
Behind a mask she would hide.

But when they are together,
Her shame she sheds for him.
Because her heart has found-
The pools for his love to swim.

They are an unlikely trio,
One that somehow fate allowed.
Feather, Moon, and Dog,
To each other they are vowed.

The last of this trio,
Came to them in trust.
A present from Aeia,
And in their lot he's thrust.

Short of snout, and dusky hide,
His feet are wide and strong.
True of heart, noble pride,
And with them he belongs.

They are an unlikely trio,
One that somehow fate allowed.
Feather, Moon, and Dog,
To each other they are vowed.
