Recent Edits

Hi again, DUNGEONCRAWLERS. I removed several of your recent edits to the creature article for silver-scaled cold wyrms and wanted to let you know why so that you are not confused. These changes largely consisted of either duplicate links or circular links.

By duplicate links, I mean multiple instances of links that are directed to the same article, such as linking to Hinterwilds each time the word "Hinterwilds" appears in an article. Gswiki:Style guide#Linking has some general information about why it is preferrable to not have multiple instances of the same link. I did leave them in for the section Historical Footnotes for character names due to the nature of it being a running list of kills. In addition to duplicate links, I removed all circular links.

For circular links, these are links created that would under normal circumstances redirect to the same page they are on - in this case, they were links on the silver-scaled cold wyrm page that were set up back to the same article (using [[silver-scaled cold wyrm]] to refer to the creature on its own article). Links of this nature should only be used in cases of transclusion so that the text, when it appears on another article, links back to the original article; this use of translcusion should also use the <includeonly> or <noinclude> markups accordingly so that the source article does not contain the circular link. I could find no tranclusion markups on the creature article to warrant use of circular links. Additional information about transclusion is at Help:Getting Started#Transclusion. And as an example, if you look at the source code for Prayer of Holding (301), you can see use of these markups to cause the introductory text to appear differently on this page versus how that same text appears on Scroll/list of eligible spells for the same spell.

I know that you heavily use both duplicate links and circular links on your character page for Myharl (prime), however I want to reassure you that it is perfectly fine there as the style guide standards beyond those outlined in Gswiki:Policy do not apply to character pages or user pages. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of these edits. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:29, 19 September 2024 (CDT)

Creative Works

Hi there, DUNGEONCRAWLERS. In an effort to ensure stylistic consistency across the wiki, the Creative Works Style Guide was recently updated to better clarify and expand on the different types of creative works. Several of your recent updates include creative works that now fall under a new category. The articles had been set up in the creative-work template as a short story, however they appear to be vignettes. I wanted to reach out to you about the following vignettes:

Unless there is something I am overlooking about how they are not vignettes, the creative-work template on each of them will need to be updated to change their type from short story to vignette. If you do not do so within 7 days, another moderator or I will make that change on your behalf. If you have any questions about the updated style guide or the different type of creative work options it encompasses, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thanks for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 08:56, 27 March 2024 (CDT)

@ HOST-GSKEBECHET All three creative works have been updated to vignette. DUNGEONCRAWLERS (talk) 10:06, 27 March 2024 (CDT)

Thank you very much for your help with that! HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 08:57, 2 April 2024 (CDT)

Image at Risk for Deletion

Hello, DUNGEONCRAWLERS. You recently uploaded an image to the wiki, File:MYHARL-AND-WYRM.JPG, that is missing some information required by Gswiki:Policy. GSwiki now has a new policy for all images uploaded to it. Please see Gswiki:Policy#Copyrights for more information about that policy and the requirement to note image creators, what AI imaging software was used (if any), and if permission was granted by the creator to upload the image to the wiki. This information needs to be on the images as well as on all articles using them. In addition, all images using AI software in their creation are required to be included in Category:AI artwork. I know that you usually capture all of this information on your image uploads, so I suspect that it is just an oversight that the name of the AI imaging software was excluded; you did include all of that information on the other files that you uploaded around the same time. To add that text to the image file, you will need to click on "Edit Source" on the image file itself and add the required information, plus [[Category:AI artwork]] to include it in the appropriate category for AI artwork.

If that information is not added within 7 days, this image will be deleted from the wiki. Please do not remove the {{moddelete}} template from the image. Another moderator or I will remove that template after your updates have been reviewed to ensure that they meet Gswiki:Policy requirements. If you have any questions about this process or need more information about the updated policy for images, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thank you for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:53, 17 January 2024 (CST)

Image Uploads

Hello! I enjoyed reading about your character, Myharl, and his very long history in the world of Elanthia. While I was reviewing updates on his character page Myharl (prime), I noticed that you did not include the artist or copyright information on the page itself for the various images added to it. Three images did have that information in the file comments, so I have gone ahead and adjusted the caption on your character page to include it for File:MYHARL GSIV WIKI PORTRAIT.JPG, File:MYHARL AND WIVES IN SHOP GSIV WIKI PORTRAIT.JPG, and File:MYHARL EYE-OF-THE-DRAKE GSIV WIKI IMAGE.JPG. However, there are still four images that will need you to clarify the artist and source on Myharl (prime):

Many of the additional images all appear to have an artist signature on them; I could not verify if they are the same artist who is cited for your profile image or not, although they are all done in a similar style. Some of them state in the file information that you own the copyright information, however that is not sufficient for the wiki.

Please see Help:Style#Copyrights for more information about the requirement to provide the source and artist name for all images uploaded to GSwiki. If you are the artist who created the artwork, you can simply note that instead. If you need an example of how to do this, the character page Arenglae (prime) does this very clearly for all of the portraits. Additionally, if any images were created using AI software, you will need to note what software was used to create them. Unfortunately simply stating that you own the copyright to the image is not sufficient. As an example, it can be as simple as, "Image created by the uploader using MidJourney" (or whatever software is appropriate). Thanks for understanding! I'll check back in soon to see if this information has been updated. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 11:13, 16 December 2022 (CST)
