Using Holy Weapon (1625) to bond to a black ora weapon

The official GemStone IV encyclopedia.
Jump to navigation Jump to search

To allow the weapon to be bonded, you must cast first cast Consecrate (1604) before the shadows wrap around your hand, then cast Holy Weapon (1625) as normal. If you try to bond with it after they have, it will not work. Furthermore, the weapon will not be sanctified, and it will not kill undead. The paladin still receives a strength and wisdom bonus for each level of bond. Black ora weapons still must be uncursed to remove it from one's hands.

Example:
[Cleric Guild, Shrine]
The ruddy crimson light bathes the golden anvil that serves as an altar in a glow not unlike that of a forge. Cast in heavy iron, a statue of a thickly muscled man wearing a leather apron stands behind the anvil.

An example of a bonded black ora weapon in use

You swing a black ora military flail at a massive pyrothag!
   AS: +372 vs DS: +156 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +29 = +285
... and hit for 94 points of damage!
Well placed shot pierces knee, that hurt!
The massive pyrothag is knocked to the ground!
   The massive pyrothag is stunned!

** As your military flail hits, it sends a surge of power through you that quickly leaps out at the pyrothag! **

   Warding failed!

A massive pyrothag appears to be overwhelmed by some burdening force.
