Real gem

Real gems are the name given to text gems that are hidden in plain sight throughout the game. They can be hidden in, on, under, or behind something. The location does not have to make sense as these gems could be placed adjacent to any object, such as a banner waving in the sky. When a character finds one of these text gems, a monsterbold game-wide messaging is sent out that SOMEONE JUST FOUND A REAL GEM! If you're the one who finds the real gem, you'll get a message telling you what to do, as well. Approximately two months later, the corresponding real gem will arrive at the player's home along with a congratulatory certificate.

Where to Find Them

Under PM Wyrom, real gems have not been intended to be in capped hunting or any hunting areas gated by level. In fact, his desire is to avoid most hunting grounds period, although he stated that characters may have to travel through them.

Real gems also, without GM involvement, shift locations. Three real gems, as of 2021, were in game for years and changed locations dozens of times until they were found. This means that an area you checked a long time ago might be worth revisiting!

Another tip, as if things weren't difficult enough already, is that the day/night system can change what objects are interactable within a room.

Ultimately, don't hunt for real gems for the purpose of finding real gems. You may never find one, and you may end up with undue frustration. Focus on exploring the world, and as you do so, look in/on/under/behind things and who knows, you might get lucky! As cliché as it sounds, it really is true that sometimes the exploration itself is the reward.

GEM (verb)

The GEM verb provides information about real gems.

Hidden in the lands in and around all of the cities are items which you can find and turn in for "REAL" items with the same name.  Participation is easy.  All you have to do is keep a sharp eye out searching everywhere you can.  Real items *will* be found.  Maybe the next one by you.

We have also hidden some other REAL items within the game.  One such example would be special mugs that will earn you a REAL DragonRealms/GemStone mug.

You may only find a maximum of one item every six months per account.  When you find a "real" item, you will be given instructions on how to exchange it.  Follow these instructions precisely.  If you have any questions after you find an item, please do an ASSIST and a Gamemaster will help you with the proper information.

   and inform us you have found a real item.
   We will then verify that you have the item and will send it to you
   by U.S. mail.

   IMPORTANT:  Be sure and specify your real name, Email address,
               mailing address, where and when you found the item,
               and perhaps a phone number where you can be reached.

Please be sure to specify that you found ITEM {a special number} in your feedback.  The special code is important for verification purposes. Once we have your info, you are free to sell your "in game" version of the item at the gemcutters.
