Subject: Brieson's Report: Tayeros
Just moments ago, Lord Brieson Cassle the Adjudicator of the Hall of Mages released a portion of his report and findings on the death of Grand Magister Tayeros in the town of Wehnimer’s Landing. Brieson and his sister Soffeia arrived in Wehnimer’s a few months ago to conduct an investigation by the Hall of Mages into the assassination of Earl Kestrel of Chastonia, the sudden death of Grand Magister Tayeros, and the escape of Grishom Stone, all events with suspected ties to adventurers being harbored in Wehnimer’s Landing. While Lord Brieson’s investigation regarding Earl Kestrel and Grishom Stone remains open and ongoing, he was able to officially conclude his work on the death of Tayeros. Much of his report was kept in the strictest of secrecy as it was sent back to the Hall of Mages, but a statement was made available. “Upon further exploration of Grand Magister Tayeros’ sudden demise in the area of Wehnimer’s Landing, a great many things were revealed to me, with each and every bit of information more alarming than the last. First and foremost, the Hall of Mages is renowned among the Turamzzyrian Empire and all of Elanthia for their insatiable thirst for knowledge and order, and with it comes our ideals of honor and justice. History has shown us the catastrophe of magic unchecked, its evidence is no clearer than the dark spot in our region known as the Wizardwaste, or Ba’Lathon. It is the role of the Hall of Mages to use our knowledge for order, not chaos. It is our role to be a guiding hand and voice, not a crucible of pain and distrust. In my research, I have discovered the truth of Grand Magister Tayeros, both in the events surrounding his death, but more importantly in the dark truth of his behavior and tactics. Behavior that is both repulsive and contradictory to the practices and principals of our Hall. It is with great dismay that I must expose a traitor to our cause, but even the greatest of gardens can grow a weed hidden within a shadow. I have found Grand Magister Tayeros guilty of torture, murder, and in violation of his oath and registration within the Hall of Mages. I have recommended his title and estate be stripped posthumously, and further investigations opened into his conduct since obtaining his ranked position. In addition, I have recommended that all parties and individuals linked to his death in connection with the town of Wehnimer’s Landing to be found guiltless of any involvement. In his attempts to threaten, torture and murder innocent people in the region, he ultimately met his end by a known Nalfein assassin named Nysina. The last known location of the assailant was en route to Ta’Nalfein. Despite the crimes of Tayeros, justice was ours to serve, and I have recommended a number of actions to help ensure that his murder at the hands of an exiled Nalfein is dealt with accordingly. This concludes my work into the death of Tayeros, which leaves my investigation still in process for the assassination of Earl Kestrel and the escape of Grishom Stone.” Signed this Tilmaires, the 21st of Olaesta.
