A Grooming Item is part of a set of items that have fluff scripts associated with grooming a horse mount or a tortoise mount. Grooming Items for horses are sold at The Gallant Groom, while grooming items for tortoises are sold at Trim and Polish, both at Rumor Woods. Grooming items only work on mounts that you have summoned.

There are several pieces in the Grooming Item set. The horse items consist of a brush, comb, currybrush, and hoof pick. The tortoise mount items consist of a beak file, clippers, and a polishing cloth. Kits to store grooming supplies are also sold with the set. Grooming Items will only work with their designated mount type.

Grooming Kit

The grooming kit is a scripted container that can store the other grooming supplies in this series.

Analyze

You analyze your groomer's kit and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
An equine groomer's kit is a container specifically designed to hold horse grooming tools.

You can tell that the kit is as light as it can get, but you might be able to have a talented merchant deepen its pockets for you.

Usage

Verb First Third
GET
(item from kit)
You open a canvas pocket within your groomer's kit and remove a rounded walnut-backed currycomb. XXX fiddles with something inside his groomer's kit and pulls out a rounded walnut-backed currycomb.
PUT
(item into kit)
You slide your walnut-backed currycomb into your groomer's kit, fitting it securely within a sturdy canvas pocket. XXX slides his walnut-backed currycomb into his groomer's kit, fiddling briefly with something inside.

Horse Brush

A brush can be used to brush down a mount. Some verbs require a mount to be present to work. Brushes will not work if a mount is wearing a saddle.

Analyze

You analyze your soft bristled brush and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
A carved oak soft bristled brush is a horse grooming tool.
It has access to the following verbs: clean, pull, push, rub, and turn

You get no sense of whether or not the brush may be further lightened.

Usage

Verb First Third
CLEAN You smooth out the bristles of your soft bristled brush, releasing trapped particles of dust and dirt. As the debris falls away, you tap the last of it loose, leaving your brush clean and ready for the next use. XXX smooths out the bristles of his soft bristled brush, releasing trapped particles of dust and dirt. As the debris falls away, he taps the last of it loose, leaving his brush clean and ready for the next use.
PULL You slowly follow the direction of a lithe rose grey gelding's hair, reversing the brush at the patterned swirl before the flanks. Moving gently down each leg, you end your strokes along the taper between the fetlock and the hoof. XXX smooths his soft bristled brush across his rose grey gelding's hair, reversing the brush at the patterned swirl before the flanks. Moving gently down each leg, XXX ends his strokes along the taper between the fetlock and the hoof.
PUSH You flick a carved oak soft bristled brush in short, rapid strokes from neck to tail, with the grain of the coat, removing loose dirt, dust, and hair. Tiny clouds of particles flit off into the air before settling slowly toward the ground. XXX flicks his soft bristled brush in short, rapid strokes from his rose grey gelding's neck to his tail. He follows the grain of the coat, removing loose dirt, dust, and hair. Tiny clouds of particles flit off into the air before settling slowly toward the ground.
RUB With a thorough swiping of the soft bristled brush's bristles across a lithe rose grey gelding, you step back and admire the clean and healthy shine of his smooth coat. With a thorough swiping of the soft bristled brush's bristles across his rose grey gelding, XXX steps back and admires the clean and healthy shine of his smooth coat.
TURN You toss your soft bristled brush into the air, watching it flip end over end to land, bristles up, in the palm of your hand. XXX tosses his soft bristled brush into the air. It flips end over end to land, bristles up, in the palm of his hand.

Horse Comb

A comb can be used to comb a mount's mane and tail. Some verbs require a mount to be present to work.

Analyze

You analyze your mane and tail comb and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
A wide-toothed mane and tail comb is a horse grooming tool.
It has access to the following verbs: clean, pull, push, rub, and turn

You get no sense of whether or not the comb may be further lightened.

Usage

Verb First Third
CLEAN You begin the painstaking task of unwrapping the tangled strands of individual hairs caught within the strong metal teeth of your mane and tail comb. XXX begins the painstaking task of unwrapping the tangled strands of individual hairs caught within the strong metal teeth of his mane and tail comb.
PULL You sweep your fingers through your gelding's thick and heavy tail, extricating bits of straw, some errant twigs, and a few pesky burrs. You section off small portions, holding each firmly in one hand as you run your mane and tail comb gently through each section in turn. XXX sweeps his fingers through his gelding's thick and heavy tail, extricating bits of straw, some errant twigs, and a few pesky burrs. XXX sections off small portions, holding each firmly in one hand as he runs the mane and tail comb gently through each section in turn.
PUSH Holding a wide-toothed mane and tail comb aside for now, you begin to finger comb a lithe rose grey gelding's mane, detangling the thick hair gently and working out most of the knots. You then straighten the ends with light strokes of your mane and tail comb. Holding a wide-toothed mane and tail comb to the side, XXX begins to finger comb his rose grey gelding's mane, detangling the thick hair gently and working out most of the knots. He then straightens the ends with light strokes of his mane and tail comb.
RUB Holding the base of a lithe rose grey gelding's mane firmly in one hand, you separate the individual strands with the other. Working your mane and tail comb through any tangles or knots, you step back to admire the clean and glossy shine and the orderly fall of the hair. Holding the base of his rose grey gelding's mane firmly in one hand, XXX separates the individual strands with the other. Working his mane and tail comb through any tangles or knots, he steps back to admire the clean and glossy shine and the orderly fall of the hair.
TURN You toss your mane and tail comb high into the air with an impressive flick of your wrist. After reaching the peak of its trajectory, it flips end over end on its rapid descent. With a sly wink to anyone watching, you twist your torso and deftly catch your comb behind your back. XXX tosses his mane and tail comb high into the air with an impressive flick of his wrist. After reaching the peak of its trajectory, the comb flips end over end on its rapid descent. With a sly wink and a twisting of his torso, XXX deftly catches it behind his back.

Horse Currycomb

A currycomb can be used to curry a mount's body. Some verbs require a mount to be present to work. Currycombs will not work if a mount is wearing a saddle.

Analyze

You analyze your walnut-backed currycomb and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
A rounded walnut-backed currycomb is a horse grooming tool.
It has access to the following verbs: clean, pull, push, rub, and turn

You get no sense of whether or not the currycomb may be further lightened.

Usage

Verb First Third
CLEAN Tapping the underside of your walnut-backed currycomb against a nearby hard surface, you leave concentric rings of dust and dirt. The finely particled detritus disperses with any slight movement of the air. XXX taps the underside of his walnut-backed currycomb against a nearby hard surface, leaving concentric rings of dust and dirt. The finely particled detritus disperses with any slight movement of the air.
PULL As a lithe rose grey gelding leans into the "scratch-that-itch" sensation of your circular currying, a layer of dirt and scurf falls loosely from deep within his coat. As XXX's a lithe rose grey gelding leans into the "scratch-that-itch" sensation of XXX's circular currying, a layer of dirt and scurf falls loosely from deep within the gelding's coat.
PUSH Working your way methodically from neck to tail, you curry in a circular motion across a lithe rose grey gelding's coat. Loosened flecks of dirt, hair, and dander from the skin collect on the coat's surface, ready to be brushed away. Working his way methodically from neck to tail, XXX curries in a circular motion across his rose grey gelding's coat. Loosened flecks of dirt, hair, and dander from the skin collect on the coat's surface, ready to be brushed away.
RUB You flex your biceps, putting a bit of muscle behind your actions as you scour a circular pattern across a lithe rose grey gelding's coat. Your elbow grease pays off in liberating the embedded dirt and dead hair from the skin beneath the surface. The distribution of oils across the coat leaves him ready to be brushed off to a healthy shine. XXX flexes his biceps, putting a bit of muscle behind his actions as he scours a circular pattern across a lithe rose grey gelding's coat. His elbow grease pays off in liberating the embedded dirt and dead hair from the skin beneath the surface. The distribution of oils across the horse's coat leaves him ready to be brushed off to a healthy shine.
TURN Balancing the rounded, bottom edge of the walnut-backed currycomb in your palm, you turn it rapidly round and round. Soon, it is spinning like a top in your hand before eventually falling over. Balancing the rounded, bottom edge of a walnut-backed currycomb in his palm, XXX turns it rapidly round and round. Soon, it is spinning like a top in his hand before eventually falling over.

Horse Hoof Pick

A hoof pick can be used to pick out a mount's hooves. Some verbs require a mount to be present to work.

Analyze

You analyze your steel-gripped hoof pick and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
A plain steel-gripped hoof pick is a horse grooming tool.
It has access to the following verbs: clean, pull, push, rub, and turn

You get no sense of whether or not the hoof pick may be further lightened.

Usage

CLEAN Giving the metal hook on the end of your steel-gripped hoof pick a sharp rap, you knock some dried flakes of manure to the ground. Giving the metal hook on the end of his steel-gripped hoof pick a sharp rap, XXX knocks some dried flakes of manure to the ground.
PULL Resting a lithe rose grey gelding's front leg on your lowered knee you use your hoof pick to pry gently at a small stone lodged on the inner surface of the upturned hoof. Resting his rose grey gelding's front leg on his lowered knee XXX uses his hoof pick to pry gently at a small stone lodged on the inner surface of the upturned hoof.
PUSH Supporting the hoof of a lithe rose grey gelding's raised rear leg against your thigh, you carefully scrape the flattened point of your hoof pick along the exposed inner surface of the upturned hoof. Clumps of caked mud fall free, "Ahhhh, that has to feel better!" Supporting the hoof of his rose grey gelding's raised rear leg against his thigh, XXX carefully scrapes the flattened point of his hoof pick along the exposed inner surface of the upturned hoof. Clumps of caked mud fall free, leaving a clean and debris free surface.
RUB You wield the flattened point of your steel-gripped hoof pick along the groove beside the spongy frog within a lithe rose grey gelding's upturned hoof. After scraping out dried clumps of manure and mud, you lower the hoof gently to the ground. XXX wields the flattened point of his steel-gripped hoof pick along the groove beside the spongy frog within his rose grey gelding's upturned hoof. After scraping out dried clumps of manure and mud, he lowers the hoof gently to the ground.
TURN Gripping your steel-gripped hoof pick between your thumb and index finger you give it a spin and catch it between your index and middle fingers. Repeating the action, you smoothly walk it between each of your fingers in turn, then spin it back to its starting point. You finish the manual acrobatics with a flourish, flipping the steel-gripped hoof pick repeatedly in the air.
