::::WINTERDAWN has sent me their research documentation, and I am simply a bit overwhelmed irl at the moment, but not forgotten this project. I am going to post below a bit of research sent to me by Vanai, just so it will be here. She does not edit gswiki articles, and she has given her permission for me to post it here. With her permission, I will also post her death messaging where she died from 208 failure. The main 208 article does not state you can die from 208, and I plan to update that part right away.

Vanai's Research is below:

Vanai is a Level 89 Empath who was attempting to steal spell 1612 (Champion's Might, which adds +15 CS) from a Paladin. She died during her first attempt from what she believes was Rank 3 Nerve Damage (it left a Rank 3 Nerve Scar) caused by spell failure of the 208.

She had some defensive spells active on herself at the time of her death, they were: 401, 406, 414, 601, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 107, 112, 115, 120, 202, 204,209, 211, 215, 218, 1109, 1119, 1125, and 1130.

Here was the equation she noticed at the time of her death from spell 208 failure:
[Rune Strength 56 - 80 Steal Spell Difficulty = -24]

After she died and had no spells upon her at all, she tried again, and again, and she never failed to succeed again after that.

Here was the equation she got upon spell 208 success:
[Rune Strength 56 - 29 steal spell difficulty = 27]

Note that after her first success, Vanai casted spell 1612 upon herself, and after that on further successful casts of 208, her formula/equation did not change, so she assumes that wearing spell 1612 does not affect steal spell difficulty:
[Rune Strength 56 - 29 steal spell difficulty = 27]

Vanai did a bit of further research:

Casting 208 against a lower level Paladin did not seem to affect the formula for success. In her first experiment where Vanai died, the Paladin target was Level 70. In later experiments, Vanai used a Level 18 Paladin target, and there was no noticeable difference in the success of the Spell Steal Check ("[Rune Strength 56 - 29 Steal Spell Difficulty = 27]"). Vanai assumes that the level of the Target does not make any difference in the success of spell 208's Spell Steal Check. The 208 article does not specifically say this. Further testing is needed to confirm it as truth.

Here are the results of further testing to try to determine which spells worn by the caster would affect the Spell Steal Difficulty, and by how much:

[Rune Strength 56 - 80 Steal Spell Difficulty = -24] (401, 406, 414, 601) (died)
[Rune Strength 56 - 29 steal spell difficulty = 27] (no spells)
[Rune Strength 56 - 30 Steal Spell Difficulty = 26] (401)
[Rune Strength 56 - 39 Steal Spell Difficulty = 17] (401, 406)
[Rune Strength 56 - 60 Steal Spell Difficulty = -4] with 401, 406, 414)
[Rune Strength 56 - 50 Steal Spell Difficulty = 6] (414)
[Rune Strength 56 - 38 Steal Spell Difficulty = 18] (406)
[Rune Strength 56 - 30 Steal Spell Difficulty = 26] (611)
Results from the above are inconclusive but will provide a basis upon which to further test.

The caster is an Empath, and when wearing Empath or Paladin spells, those spells by themselves did not seem to affect the Steal Spell Difficulty at all, even when the Empath did a full Mana Spellup before casting 208, and even after stealing several Paladin spells and casting them on herself before casting 208.

WINTERDAWN has sent me their research documentation, and I am simply a bit overwhelmed irl at the moment, but not forgotten this project.
