In 2024, the need for subscripts has been replaced by the [[:Category:Flourishes|Flourish]] system, which also includes the ability to add [[:Category:Combat Flourishes|Combat Flourishes]] to combat gear. Subscripts are an informal name for a group of main scripts which can read a secondary script, allowing for an item to have two scripts at the same time. In most cases, compatibility must be established on a script-by-script basis, and conflicting verbs will prevent their use together.

In 2024, the need for subscripts has been replaced by the Flourish system, which also includes the ability to add Combat Flourishes to combat gear. Eligible subscripts can be updated to use the Flourish system via the FLOURISH command. In the case of DoTFlares, the entire set of six scripted flare types was renamed Lore Flares as part of its update to the Flourish system.
