Torment rounds modify the TD of the current target and are reconsidered on each strike by the demonic force. For each additional affliction (701, 710, 715, 716) on the target and each status condition within the below list on the target, the target suffers a -10 TD pushdown.  
Each round this spell is active, the demon will lash out upon the target, in the form of a warding attack using the sorcerer's [[CS]]. If the caster does not succeed at warding the target, the force will lash back causing a warding check against the caster. The demon will continue to attack until either the caster or target is extinguished. The following conditions may augment one's defenses against each attack round of the spell.


The maximum torment TD pushdown for a target is -100.
* The target's [[TD]] is reduced by the caster being in more offensive [[stance]]s, or the target being [[stunned]] or [[unconscious]].
* The target's TD is increased if the caster is stunned, sleeping, or in a more defensive stance.
* Distance between caster and target can cause an increase in the target's TD.

At 25 ranks of training in [[Sorcerous Lore, Demonology]], Torment's cast RT is reduced by 1 second (minimum of 1s) and the mana cost by 25% (maximum of 50% total mana cost) for every curse or other sorcerer DoT from the caster on the target.

Training in Demonology will allow the caster to have spells prepared while Torment is running without penalty. If no spell is in preparation, Demonology ranks may then cause the demon to inflict more damage. Increased training in Demonology will allow the caster to control more individual demonic forces of this type at a time.
