We can add storyline subcategories like "Storylines in 2017". For the naming convention, would real years (2017) or Elanthian years (5117) be preferable? ZHOUY1 (talk) 13:29, 15 February 2017 (CST)

Thank you for the suggestion. While there is some overlap, this page and Unofficial History Timeline (prime) should not be merged as their purpose is different. However, it is possible that the contents of this page and the contents of Category:Storylines may be merged back in light of the updated storyline guidelines. Consolidating Pages

I have taken the information that was on Category:Storylines since it was getting long and moved it here into a sortable table. I also had some concern that by having both pages, we were requiring a duplication of effort to update multiple places across the wiki at the same time - or one or another page would be out of date. I also combined what was existing on the page into one table, although I plan on coming back after hearing feedback to add a major/minor column if that distinction is still preferred. (I'm happy to add in the column and put in the data that was existing on the page into that column if that's what is preferred.) If you hate all of this, please feel free to revert it, but I think we will still need another solution for the Category:Storylines page as the data was getting unwieldy and out of sync across pages. I am curious if there is a way to automate a list of all the titles from the table on this page to populate on the category page. MOD-GSMOTTE (talk) 14:46, 6 May 2021 (CDT)

Thoughts

I like the tables a lot. That is what I was going for, but I'm largely putting up huge amounts of content then I go back and code. I can code, but it's not a easy skill without research Wikiwise. My plan was to merge them or split them like you did so right on there. I was just trying to sort out the minor stories, which are mostly non-cannon or player written. I was going to put them in year categories too so the visual works really well for me.

The category work I did with the timeline and really just combining them all then trying to link cities is well envisioned with your two pages. I believe I created them both initially or forms of them so this works and then just referencing them as Storylines and a Timeline separately. Frankly, we could probably put them together. My thoughts were to match the Grimswarm or Landing Defense kind of pages and this starts to move in that direction.
