Get and its synonym Take picks things up.
>get
GET is the most common method of picking up items. You must have at least
one empty and useable hand to pick up most items, as well as being sufficiently
unencumbered to handle the weight of the item.
GET BROADSWORD
In some instances where several similar items are present, it is necessary
to specify the location or description of the one in which you are interested.
GET THIRD SAPPHIRE
GET WHITE FLASK FROM DRAWER
The use of the word MY can be especially helpful, as it forces the game to
look for items only within your inventory.
GET BROADSWORD IN MY BACKPACK
Some items are actually a bundle of several of the same item. This is
notably true in the case of ranged ammunition such as arrows. With bundles,
you can specify a number of individual items to take from the bundle.
GET 12 OF MY BLACK ARROWS FROM MY LEATHER QUIVER
If you successfully manage to pick up an item, it will be placed into your
right hand, or your left hand in the event that your right hand is not empty
or it is missing.
Exceptions
Shields and bows are automatically placed into your left hand.
