a smooth silver coin
a Giantman coin.
Show
The silver coin has grown tarnished from what appears to be decades of exposure to the harsh elements, and its surface has been worn so smooth that it is nearly impossible to detect any trace of actual detail.
Loresong
Focusing your song on the coin, you attempt to bring forth any hidden story it may hold. Although it initially resists your intrusion, a vision finally begins to take form in your mind. A giantman sprints down a rocky mountain path and turns his head momentarily to view some unseen pursuers, panic streaked across his face...
...During his haste, he trips over a gnarled root and crashes to the floor, yelping in pain as his left leg becomes unnaturally twisted. His attempt to regain his footing fails miserably as his leg refuses to cooperate or support him. Finally he attempts to crawl, but such a pace is unable to evade his pursuers who have now caught up to their prey and surrounded him.
His pursuers are all giantmen, each wearing a ruby-inset silver armband around their left arm. The largest of the group rips a coin purse from the hapless victim with a snarl, spilling many of the silver coins about the floor in the process due to his haste. Wordlessly, the group then begins to mercilessly beat their quarry with feet and fists.
Violent images flash through your mind relentlessly as bloodied fists continue to pummel the now misshapen features of the giantman. Just as it seems the giantman will expire over the beating it ceases.
The leader of the group then pulls out a vial from his belt pouch, uncaps its stopper and slips it through the split lips of the miserable form. Its contents emptied, he tosses the vial to the side, stuffs the victim's coin purse into his belt and harshly mutters to the dying form, "The price of betrayal." With that, the image fades to black.
