Purify Air supposedly protects against implosions and poisonous gasses (such as those in the tree in the Vipershroud).
Purify Air can also be used to protect oneself from a sand beetle's poisonous attack as well as a night hound's poisonous breath. The spell also provides a significant boost to defense when attempting to negate the effects of a festering taint's putrid air maneuver attack.
Alchemists can create a scintillating lilac potion which casts Purify Air on the drinker.
