Spirit Slayer summons a spirit which appears as a "mote of white light" surrounding the caster. This spirit lies dormant for the duration but can "flare with blinding brilliance," re-casting single-target offensive spells cast by its wearer. The effect also imparts a bonus of 25 to the bolt attack strength (AS) or casting strength (CS) during subsequent attacks. This bonus can be increased with training in Spiritual Mana Control. The spirit will cease its assault immediately if the original target dies.

Each attack made has a chance to ignite the spirit, causing it to repeat the attack. The possibility of recasts will continue through the duration of the spell, and can be improved with training in Spiritual Lore, Summoning. Lore training will only increase the probability of the first recast.

Once the first recast has been triggered, additional recasts are possible based on the level of the attack spell. The probability of more recasts decreases exponentially as the level of attack spell increases. Spell level does not affect the chance of the first recast.

Spirit Slayer lasts for 30 seconds and is refreshable. While the effect is active, it has a chance of duplicating any single-target attack spell that the caster knows (spells from scrolls and magic items will not trigger the spirit). Each time the spirit is activated it will cast the same previous spell used against the same foe targeted in the same manner (e.g. via CAST, CHANNEL, or EVOKE). Recasts are automated, instantaneous, and will never cost the user additional mana.

Mana Control Benefit

Training in Spiritual Mana Control increases the bonus to AS and CS of 25 + 1 per seed 5 summation of ranks.

Lore Benefit

Training in Spiritual Lore, Summoning increases the chance for the spirit to activate and recast a spell by 60% + 2% per seed 1 summation of ranks (max 98% first recast at 190 ranks, or 100% at 210 ranks enhanced). Subsequent recasts are exponentially less likely than the preceding one, but the probability for each additional recast is also increased by this training.

Other Spell Effects

  • If Ensorcell is activated during the initial damage, the acuity bonus (+AS/CS) will affect the secondary, higher portion of the Spirit Slayer.
  • The +CS bonus from spiritual focus crystals only applies to the initial cast, not spirit recasts.
  • The +CS bonus and Truehand effect of Symbol of the Proselyte (340) only applies to the initial cast, not spirit recasts.
  • Area spells such as Searing Light are never duplicated, but ball spells with splash effect such as Fire Spirit can be.
  • Arcane Blast is never duplicated.
