Silent strike is a Rogue Combat Maneuver that allows a player to attack a target from hiding without revealing his or her location. Players that witness a successful silent strike will see "a shadowy figure" strike a target in place of the character's name.
This skill is useful because it allows a player to jump back into hiding without the need to HIDE again. However, it cannot be used to aim attacks.
A Rogue must obtain at least two ranks of Shadow Mastery before training in silent strike. Additional ranks in silent strike will help to ensure an attack without revealing one's self. The player's level versus the target also seems to play a role in determining whether the maneuver is successful.
If a Rogue does not successfully perform the silent strike successfully, he or she will attack the target normally, as if attempting to AMBUSH from hiding. The player will still incur the maneuver's normal stamina cost.
While players may not see the Rogue that performs a silent strike, it does not excuse Rogues from the JUSTICE system if he or she attacks a player in town.

Left hand severed at the wrist!
The velnalin groans loudly as he slumps to the ground and cradles his wounded left hoof.
The velnalin lets out a final agonized sigh and dies.
The figure quickly disappears from view.
