A cudgel, among the simplest of all weapons, is a one-handed blunt weapon, commonly referred to as a club. It is, essentially, one long haft usually enlarged at the clubbing end. Because of its design, a cudgel, when used in combat, will inflict crushing injuries to an opponent.

Alternate Names

Acceptable nouns for a cudgel include a baculus, club, lisan, periperiu, shillelagh, tambara, truncheon, war club, and jo stick.

Game Mechanics

The cudgel is wielded one-handed and requires training in the blunt weapons skill to use effectively. The potential damage from the cudgel is slightly below average when compared to other blunt weapons.

The cudgel weapon profile and damage table also apply to light crossbows, heavy crossbows and discuses when they are used as melee weapons (right hand only).
