I think this article incorrectly refers to "RANKS = hindrance * 20" (in various forms) where it should read "SKILL = hindrance * 20" (in various forms). I've played Gemstone for for 8 of the last 11 years but I've only played for 30 days in the last 3 years, so I'm not confident that this suggestion is 100% accurate.
You are 100% correct. Fixed that and added some clarity about action penalty. Some poor phrasing in there. - DaCapn
