A creature, critter, or monster is a hostile entity in the world of GemStone. Hunting creatures is one of the primary mechanisms of gaining experience and wealth used by many players. Conversely, creatures are also the primary cause of death, and a likely significant drain for silvers for the purchase of armor, shields, and weapons. Creatures are the primary targets of offensive magic as well as the main reason for defensive spells.
There are literally hundreds of various types, which are indigenous to virtually the entire world. Creatures are typically confined to their native regions, but may enter towns from time to time, either owing to lazy gate guards or invasions.
