Subject: Imaera Commune, circa 2008
I was going through old logs tonight, and came upon this successful Imaera commune from the 2008 (?) release of the Empath's 1150 (?) spell. I believe two communes were held for this; one to Imaera and a second to Kuon.
Fehala performed the Imaera commune, and I thought I'd post the log here for any other Imaeraites (Imaerians?) interested. It was a memorable night with a lot of great roleplay.
Obviously, with so many in attendance, this is a -heavily- edited log: http://tinyurl.com/imaera2008
[Lysierian Hills, Small Island] Towering pines ring the edge of this small island, their fragrance wafting about you on each wisp of a breeze. Wildflowers, their colors washed away by the greying moonlight, carpet the ground, and mingle with honeysuckle to creep up the stone walls of a small shrine that stands in the center of the circle of trees. From somewhere nearby, an owl calls out its strange song, and is answered by another deeper in the forest. You also see a smoky-eyed fire wyrdling, the Xiandrena disk and some shallow water along the bank of the island. Also here: Aihan, Kashina, Linthral, Great Lady Kenyadaa, Nilandia, Ausek, Greyotter, Xiandrena, Great Lord Morendeen, Tealcie, Tayre, Ainsley, Malkave, Lady Jeeta, Mekion, Daiven, Sir Ruffelin, Sir Brinn, Matti, Tagg, Belnia, Sir Eahlstan, Mourdeyan, Melorra, Kediaq, Sir Morgiest, Misun, Meureii, Shirkon, Tebon, Kriztoffen, Qistra, Tonindian, Great Lady Demianna, Aydan, Guarrin, Lord Perivan, Great Lord Kraytorh, Murgin, Great Lady Cinabar, Pomic, Sir Cryheart, Metadi, Glatt, Atoyoz, Lord Zosopage, Missoni, Olgretien, Perigourd, Euphuist, Lord Shonison, Sereh Obvious paths: none [Fehala arrives to a bunch of people in the process of taking off and stowing away their shoes.] You stare at nothing in particular. You say, in Sylvankind, "By all that is Green and Holy." Morgiest deeply asks, "Remove me boots? Yer sure ye wish me tae do that 'ere?" Meureii says, speaking sincerely to you, "Thank you kindly for coming on such a journey my Lady." Zosopage says, "Plug yer noses too." Nilandia says, speaking in Sylvankind to you, "I have just asked that they remove their shoes in respect." You nod to Nilandia. You loudly say, in Sylvankind, "Gathered people. This is a holy occasion in a time of dire need. If you are here for any other purpose, or cannot hold your comment, then Ai'han can escort you back across the lake." [More people are arriving, taking off their shoes, and saying their how-do-you-dos.] You glance at Nilandia. Tayre says, in Sylvankind, "I'm not sure everyone present can understand you." Nilandia leans over and whispers, "Shall I translate?" You nod to Nilandia. Kenyadaa asks, "Is there a particular gem that The Mother particularly likes that I might be able to donate to her?" Nilandia loudly announces, "To all gathered, we draw near upon a holy occasion in a time of need. If any have another purpose, or cannot hold your peace, please speak up, and Ai'han can escort you out." Morgiest deeply says, "She likes acorns..." Perigourd says, "Chrysoprase." Perigourd nods to Kenyadaa. Perigourd says, "And amber." Kenyadaa says, "Unfortunately, I have neither." Perigourd says, speaking to Kenyadaa, "Those would be the gems of her favoring." Nilandia leans over and whispers, "I will defer to you in this." You haltingly say, "I will provide the offerings. Those of shared faith are here to show support, and to listen to the Verdant Doe's wisdom if it is granted." The voice of Valicar recites: "Nilandia has asked for quiet please." (Nilandia moves to stand behind Fehala, her hands clasped before her and head tilted slightly down.) You haltingly say, "Many of us have gathered for a dire need that has spread from city to city, and person to person." You haltingly say, "We know little, and come here to see if more can be learned." Nilandia appears weaker. You glance with concern at Nilandia. You haltingly ask, "One among you has the touch of empathy. Who will stand for the healers in the ritual for the Autumnal Mother?" You haltingly say, "It is a healer that I need. Who suffers as many are suffering." Matti says, "I do." Mourdeyan gently rests her hand on Matti's shoulder. Shirkon deeply says, "Matti well respected by alls." You say, speaking in Sylvankind to Aihan, "The flower." Aihan removes some cothinar flower from in his hooded greatcloak. Aihan offers you some cothinar flower. You accept Aihan's offer and are now holding some cothinar flower. You offer your cothinar flower to Matti, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Click CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer. Matti has accepted your offer and is now holding some cothinar flower. Matti says, "Thank you Fehala." You say, speaking in Sylvankind to Matti, "Hold this, Forest Kin. You will have a place in the ritual and will know when the time is right." You haltingly ask, "Nature is both the willow and the oak, able to bend and stand. Who among you will stand in the Warrior's place and serves the Verdant Doe?" Perigourd says, "I do." Perigourd says, "If no others do." You remove a piece of petrified modwir from in your doeskin totem bag. Morgiest deeply says, "Lord Perigourd would serve well then." You turn to face Perigourd. You offer your petrified modwir to Perigourd, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Click CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer. Perigourd has accepted your offer and is now holding a piece of petrified modwir. You say, speaking haltingly to Perigourd, "Hold this, Oak Warrior. You will have a place in the ritual and will know when the time is right." Perigourd nods to you. You remove a green chrysoprase gem from in your white linen pouch. You haltingly ask, "The spirits are ever around us. In this, we will be invoking the Forest Spirits. Who among us will stand for Faith, and is a servant to the Autumnal Mother?" You turn over your chrysoprase gem. [Crickets! No one stepped up to be this role in the ritual.] You say, speaking haltingly to your chrysoprase gem, "I can do this offering, if there are none other." You remove a nugget of doe-incised amber from in your white linen pouch. You haltingly ask, "Last, for the four, one who serves the Mother in song and spirit. Is there any who can stand for this?" You haltingly say, "The Mother sheds her tears in joy and pain. One who understands both will be needed." Tayre asks, in Sylvankind, "Are you calling upon a bard?" You smile at Tayre. You cock your head at Meureii. You offer your doe-incised amber to Meureii, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Click CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer. Meureii has accepted your offer and is now holding a nugget of doe-incised amber. Kenyadaa asks, speaking to you, "Would the Mother object to being communed by those who do not worship deities in the Circle of Liabo?" You say, "We are invoking the blessing and strength of Nature in Imaera, the Reverent Doe and She of the Green. If you are standing for any other reason than to aid us in this calling, again, you are asked to leave. Those who work against nature by service and vice are unwanted." Linthral softly says, "Why would she. She knows we're here to protect and serve." Kenyadaa says, "I myself have no objection. I am just aware that certain deities within the Circle of Liabo might object to those who worship Dark Lords and Ladies." (Fehala glances around slowly, letting her golden gaze take in as many as she can in the crowd gathered on the island.) You haltingly say, "We will begin." [Lysierian Hills, Small Island] Towering pines ring the edge of this small island, their fragrance wafting about you on each wisp of a breeze. You also see the Oravia disk, a short-taloned grey and white goshawk that is flying around, the Xiandrena disk and some shallow water along the bank of the island. Also here: Thraxz, Nilandia, Kernn, Adline, Aessa, Ausek who is sitting, Oravia, Aevryl, Satira, Jaysehn who is kneeling, Aihan, Kashina, Linthral, Great Lady Kenyadaa, Greyotter, Xiandrena, Great Lord Morendeen, Tealcie, Tayre, Ainsley, Lady Jeeta, Daiven, Sir Ruffelin, Sir Brinn, Matti, Tagg, Belnia, Sir Eahlstan, Mourdeyan, Melorra, Kediaq, Sir Morgiest, Misun, Meureii, Shirkon, Tebon, Qistra, Tonindian, Great Lady Demianna, Aydan, Guarrin, Lord Perivan, Great Lord Kraytorh, Murgin, Great Lady Cinabar, Pomic, Sir Cryheart, Metadi, Glatt, Atoyoz, Lord Zosopage, Missoni, Olgretien, Perigourd, Euphuist who is sitting, Lord Shonison, Sereh Obvious paths: none You haltingly say, "The area is small. If you do not have a talisman of the ritual, please sit. Those who stand will stand along with me, and feel the wrath of Nature if our calling angers the Mother." [A bunch of people sit down.] Nilandia whispers, "Do you wish me to stand, sister?" You attach a talon-strung doeskin totem bag to your belt. You remove a handful of white salt crystals from in your doeskin totem bag. (Fehala uses her runestaff to trace a line in the ground, which she then follows along and fills in with the salt crystals. She explains, "Salt purifies and protects. Those behind the salt line should be safe from any harm that may come from the ritual.") You haltingly ask, "Those who will stand and have the offering are ready?" (Meureii moves to stand next to Fehala, nodding in reply.) You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs. You turn to face a simple stone altar. You raise your hand while murmuring a soft orison, focusing on the Prayer of Communion spell... Your spell is ready. You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs. You gesture. Your soul reaches out, and you channel your energies into opening up a link between yourself and Imaera. You fall into a deep trancelike state while muttering a quiet prayer in the hope that Imaera will hear. After a few silent moments, you calmly open your eyes. (Aihan keeps a watchful eye on the crowd and surroundings, arrow held ready to loose at the faintest hint of danger.) You reverently say, "Great Mother of the Forest. Lady of the Green. Your children invoke your blessing of spirit and faith. We give to you an offering of forest blood; sacred from the tree." Meureii strides a few steps toward a simple stone altar. Meureii kneels down. Meureii drops a nugget of doe-incised amber. Meureii stands up. Meureii bows deeply at the waist, honoring a simple stone altar. (Meureii steps backwards lightly, standing next to Fehala once again.) You haltingly say, "We bring to the Forest Spirits an offering of faith in green. Green as the spring, as the leaves in the boughs, as the sunlight glinting off a forest pond." You remove a green chrysoprase gem from in your combed wool cloak. You lean forward. You carefully place a green chrysoprase gem on the floor. You haltingly say, "We bring to you an offering of the union between Mother and Consort. Imaera and Eonak. Stone and wood. Strength and the ability to bend." You nod to Perigourd. Perigourd strides a few steps toward a simple stone altar. Perigourd kneels down. Perigourd grips his emerald prayerbeads a little tighter. Perigourd leans forward. Perigourd reverently places a piece of petrified modwir on the floor. Perigourd stands up. Perigourd turns around. Perigourd moves to stand behind you. You haltingly say, "And to speak of our greatest need this night, we bring to you the cothinar. A sign that we remember your lessons and gifts to your people, and pray you will be with us in our time of dire of need." You nod to Matti. Matti stands up. Matti drops some cothinar flower. (Matti bows and moves back to the crowd) (Matti moves near to Fehala) (Fehala spreads her arms out wide, encompassing the shrine with a single gesture. She intones formally, "Autumnal Mother. Reverent Doe. We come in search of your guidance. Our need is great, our number is many, and we cry out in one voice for your aid.") [Many people bow their heads and pray.] A cool breeze blows in through the open doorway, spreading the scents of the herb garden about the small shrine. (Fehala slowly turns towards Nilandia. With one hand planted firmly on the top of her faewood runestaff, and with the other she reaches out to touch Nilandia's brow.) Nilandia nods slowly. (Nilandia steps forward and tilts her head down, clasping her hands tightly together despite their trembling. Her prayerbeads fall lightly about her hands as she lifts them, with her gaze, to the altar before her.) You haltingly say, "Imaera, open the conduit of your child and listen to the goodwill in this woman. Hear her prayers and wishes. Bring upon the guidance she searches for; not for selfish gain but for harmony and protection of all." Nilandia reverntly murmurs, "Honored Mother, Reverent Doe, Guardian of our People, Guide to all Healers, we come to You in great distress. We who bear Your gift to ease the suffering of others now suffer ourselves." Nilandia quietly continues, "We healers, we empaths, we now suffer an illness with no known source or cure. We are stricken with sharp pains of the body, sudden shortness of breath, an exhaustion to make us almost collapse where we are, or a fit of convulsions almost to take our breath away." The leaves of the garden's plants quiver slightly in the breeze, as if timid amongst the throng. Nilandia quietly murmurs, "This illness nearly robs us of our ability to help others. Only twice may we exert ourselves to take the pain of another upon ourselves before our strength gives out and we must rest, leaving our patients still in need, still in pain." Perigourd wraps his emerald prayerbeads around his hand with a look of intense devotion on his face. Nilandia sadly says, "As we rest, wounds fester and bleed, and those we might help may fall unconscious, even perish. Our gifts fail us, and we cannot aid those who need us as much as they require." You settle your gaze on Nilandia, watching her intently. (Nilandia bows deeply to the altar, pausing a moment before continuing.) Nilandia quietly begs, "Hear us this night, Our Mother, and guide those who need You most. Let us honor You with our gifts once more, and show us what we must do to find the cure." (Nilandia falls silent once more, her eyes sliding shut as she tilts her head down. Drawing her clasped hands to her chest, she slips a few steps backward to stand behind Fehala once more.) (Fehala's hand falls to rest back at her side as she turns towards the altar.) (Fehala's head becomes bowed with reverence and her haltingly accented Common is almost a whisper of wind against the crowd, "A great need of many, as the taint is spread like a blight in the forest. In silence, we wait.") The cool zephyr again swirls through the doorway towards the altar. This time, however, the revent objects on the floor, are swept up in the breeze and blown outside! As you watch them fly through the doorway, you notice a small brown doe peering in at those in the center of the circle. The doe looks knowingly at those standing, then bounds away outside, as if beckoning the few to follow. [A bunch of people stand up and then move outside.] >out [Lysierian Hills, Small Island] Towering pines ring the edge of this small island, their fragrance wafting about you on each wisp of a breeze. You touch one finger to your lips. Kenyadaa says, "Hush, please, let us not scare her away." You haltingly say, "Quiet, please. Nature speaks to those with ears to listen and eyes to see. Not mouths open to speak." A small brown doe leaps about the island heading towards the forest line, obviously visibly frightened by the number of people. Aydan quietly says, "We should return inside." [Some people return back inside the shrine.] Nilandia quietly urges, "Please go inside." [More people return to the inside of the shrine.] (Fehala casts a grateful smile at the retreating crowd of people. She turns a hopeful gaze back towards the surrounding trees.) [Lysierian Hills, Small Island] Towering pines ring the edge of this small island, their fragrance wafting about you on each wisp of a breeze. You haltingly say, "If you did not stand in the ritual, please return to the safety of the shrine. Those who stood may face Nature's ire, but too many will scare Nature's wisdom away." Kenyadaa says, "May I beseech those who were not in the four offering to come back inside, in order to help Her Mother be more comfortable." Kenyadaa says, "We need not all be out here." The doe peeks out from behind the trunks of the towering pines for a moment, checking to see if the danger has passed before returning to its safety behind the trees. Aihan quietly says, in Sylvankind, "I stand as Watcher, it is my duty to stay." (Aihan bows his head reverently to the doe) Nilandia quietly says, "Please go inside if you did not stand in the ritual." Lifting her prayerbeads to her lips once more, she bows toward the edge of the forest. "We wait upon You now." Linthral softly says, "Alrighty... but you scream if it's not what you think." Linthral softly asks, "You hear?" Kediaq stiffens and stops all movement for a brief moment. You nod slowly. You knowingly say, "It is." (Fehala takes a few steps forward and uses her runestaff to dig a small hole in the soil.) You remove a large acorn from in your doeskin satchel. You kneel down. You carefully place a large acorn on the ground. (Fehala uses careful, precise motions to cover up the acorn offering.) You stand back up. The doe again takes a quick glance from behind the trees. It stares with large, knowing eyes at the acorn on the ground. Finally, it moves from its cover to take a few cautious steps forward. Nilandia kneels down. (Nilandia bows deeply to the doe, keeping her eyes focused upon the ground.) (Fehala follows suit, bowing her head and kissing three fingers before touching them to her brow.) (Meureii stands there frozen, watching, not wishing to scare the Doe away.) The doe slowly moves toward the nut, then kneels down and touches its nose to the acorn before standing and staring forward. (Aihan bobs his head in dutiful but reverent respect, keeping to his task as Watcher.) (Fehala looks up and intones with formal reverence, "Mother Doe. We, your many gathered children, thank you for your varied bounties and your myriad of blessings. We are all your seedlings, cast upon the wind, and heed your words and way.") You haltingly ask, "What can nature do for those who are suffer?" Quickly, the doe bounds back towards the pines. This time, it seems without fear, as if leading you to a spot. You notice the deer make an exceptional leap over an old wilted thorn bush, before it disappears into the forest. Fehala smiles quickly. The brown mouse examines an old wilted thorn bush curiously. Adline surreptitiously glances at an old wilted thorn bush. Perigourd whispers to the group, "Onward, I think." You take a few steps towards an old wilted thorn bush. Nilandia moves to stand behind you. Nilandia nods. Nilandia whispers, "We follow you." Aihan reaches out and touches an old wilted thorn bush. You also see an old wilted thorn bush, a plump brown mouse that is sitting, a large acorn, a short-taloned grey and white goshawk and some shallow water along the bank of the island. Also here: Adline, Nilandia, Meureii, Aihan, Matti, Perigourd Obvious paths: none Adline quietly says, "It might scratch you." You take a few steps towards an old wilted thorn bush. You reach out and touch an old wilted thorn bush. Nilandia says, "It is a price we must pay. The Mother wishes us to follow." You ask, speaking haltingly to Nilandia, "Or, it is symbolic. Did you not say that there was a sacrifice to be made?" Perigourd says, speaking to you, "I felt it wished us to follow." Perigourd furrows his brow. Meureii says, speaking to Perigourd, "Aye, the Doe did nae seem to be frightened that time." Perigourd prayerfully rubs his fingers across his emerald prayerbeads. Perigourd whispers to the group, "The last doe I encountered, some years ago, led me forward as well." Perigourd whispers to the group, "Perhaps it is our lady's way." Aihan quietly says, in Sylvankind, "It is clear we must follow, but perhaps She does not wish the others to do so." Nilandia reaches out and touches an old wilted thorn bush. Suddenly, a bevy of golden leaves float to the earth, obscuring the bush from view. The portentous nature of the event lies heavily upon you. Aihan quietly says, "The thorn bush is wilted. It needs to be watered." Nilandia picks up a golden leaf. You haltingly say, "Share for those who are not here." [Lysierian Hills, Small Island] Towering pines ring the edge of this small island, their fragrance wafting about you on each wisp of a breeze. You also see a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a golden leaf, a plump brown mouse, an old wilted thorn bush, a large acorn, a short-taloned grey and white goshawk and some shallow water along the bank of the island. Also here: Adline, Nilandia, Meureii, Aihan, Matti, Perigourd Obvious paths: none You rub the golden leaf in your hand. Meureii thoughtfully says, "Perhaps it is something needed for the cure." [People come out of the shrine and pick up the golden leaves.] Nilandia says, in Sylvankind, "It may be." Perigourd says, speaking to Meureii, "It is possible." You haltingly say, "The Lady of the Green's lessons and guidance comes in many varied forms. It is a riddle, where the journey is the answer itself." Nilandia quietly adds, in Sylvankind, "The Mother guides us, but we must take the path." You say, speaking haltingly to Nilandia, "I feel you should follow the path you did not see as an option. And see where it leads." You haltingly say, "Mother Doe jumped over the thorns without fear, and bid us to follow. Gathered People, in this, I think you are to follow a path that many do not agree with -- one that may give pain- like thorns to the flesh-, but with guidance at the end." Nilandia asks, speaking to you, "You feel we must endure this sickness, then?" Meureii says, speaking to you, "So you..." Meureii glances at Nilandia. Meureii turns to face you. You say, speaking haltingly to Nilandia, "Follow the path of thorns." Nilandia simply says, "It shall be done." Aessa softly asks, "But...this pain....Do you think it will subside?" The voice of Tayre says, "Personally, I think Imaera just called us all a bunch of old wilted bushes." The voice of Tayre says, "But that's just me." Adline weakly says, "Please, it must." You say, speaking haltingly to Nilandia, "I think Ni'landia knows more of the thorn-filled path, and what it means. I do not suffer as many of you, not in this, so I cannot share what you have felt." Aihan quietly says, in Sylvankind, "The wisdom of the Mother is obvious to those who have care to see." Nilandia says, speaking hesitantly to you, "More than I care to know." [People begin to go different ways to puzzle out what the answer might be, and what Imaera meant.]
