The Globus Naidem (or Demonic Accords) runestaff was introduced at Ebon Gate in 2023 at the shop Diabolically Chained. It was designed by GM Thandiwe and coded by GM Mestys and is based off of the original Globus Elanthias runestaff. The script is capable of impacting both living and undead.

Tier 1

At Tier 1/OTS, the runestaff comes with the scripted demonic dread flare plus several fluff verb traps.

Analyze

You analyze your mesille runestaff and sense that the creator has provided the following information: 

This is the Globus Naidem runestaff, or more commonly the Demonic Accords runestaff.  It has demonic dread as its flare type.  There is a wooden demon shackled to the runestaff, and it can be customized in the following ways:

Demon Type: imp, shadowling, grik, shien, abyran 
Horn Type: goat, ibex, oribi, ram, rolton
Horn Modifier: yellowed 
Eye Characteristic: band-pupilled 
Eye Color: jaundice yellow

A chain-carved mesille runestaff can be altered with a long or a show description, though it will always maintain its default LOOK.

Currently, The runestaff is tier 1 of 4.  It has access to the following verb messaging: TICKLE, TURN, TWIST.


You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the mesille runestaff for you.

Usage

Verb First Third
TICKLE You brush your fingers against the smooth, skeletal-like head of the grik attached to your mesille runestaff. Despite it not moving, a low reverberation - similar to a purr but more gravelly - issues from it. XXX brushes his fingers against the smooth, skeletal-like head of the grik attached to his mesille runestaff, causing a sound somewhere between a purr and the sound of grinding gravel to issue from it.
TURN You turn your gaze to the grik of your mesille runestaff, sneering slightly and causing the trapped entity to flinch. XXX turns his gaze unkindly to the grik of his mesille runestaff, sneering slightly and causing the trapped entity to flinch.

Tier 2

At Tier 2, the staff has access to the Demonic Dread ability via RAISE. It also gains two fluff verb traps.

Analyze

Currently, The runestaff is tier 2 of 4. It has access to the following verb messaging: TICKLE, TURN, TWIST, RAISE (Demonic Dread), BOW, CURTSY.

Costs:
Demonic Dread (10 charges) - Attempt to instill your target with fear.

The runestaff currently contains 0 / 200 charges. Charges are accrued by killing creatures that are at least of the same level as the runestaff's bearer.
Verb First Third
BOW You incline your head diffidently, your hand resting lightly upon the top of your mesille runestaff. XXX inclines his head diffidently, his hand resting lightly upon the top of a chain-carved mesille runestaff, the grik bound to it staring balefully about.
CURTSY Gesturing broadly, your mesille runestaff held aloft, you curtsy in a dramatic fashion, causing the grik attached to the wood of your runestaff to hiss loudly. Attempt to instill your target with fear.

Tier 3

At Tier 3, the Globus Naidem runestaff gains the Demonic Visage ability, which allows the wielder to temporarily change eye and unique line features. The temporary features last for 4 hours. It also gains more fluff verb traps.

Currently, The runestaff is tier 3 of 4. It has access to the following verb messaging: TICKLE, TURN, TWIST, RAISE (Demonic Dread), BOW, CURTSY, GLANCE (horn features), GAZE (eye features), GREET.

Costs:
Demonic Dread (10 charges) - Attempt to instill your target with fear.
Demonic Visage, Horns (10 charges) - Temporary unique line feature change.
Demonic Visage, Eyes (10 charges) - Temporary eye characteristic/color feature change.
The runestaff currently contains 0 / 300 charges. Charges are accrued by killing creatures that are at least of the same level as the runestaff's bearer.
Verb Charges First Third
GAZE No charges You lock eyes with the grik attached to your mesille runestaff, causing it to whimper and twist away from you. XXX locks eyes with the grik attached to his mesille runestaff, causing it to whimper and twist away from him.
With charges You lock eyes with the grik attached to your mesille runestaff, drawing power from it. Locking eyes with the demon bound to his mesille runestaff, XXX draws power from the struggling being, causing yellowed horns to manifest on his brow.
Provides a temporary eye feature change.
GLANCE No charges Locking eyes with the demon bound to your mesille runestaff, you silently berate it for all its misgivings, causing it to flinch away from you and cower as far from you as its bound body will allow. Locking eyes with the demon bound to his mesille runestaff, XXX stares intently at it, causing it to flinch away from him and cower as far from him as its bound body will allow.
With charges Locking eyes with the demon bound to your mesille runestaff, you steal a bit of its grik, causing it to manifest as yellowed horns upon your brow. XXX locks eyes with the grik attached to his mesille runestaff, causing a transfer of power to flow from the writhing prisoner to him.
Provides a temporary unique feature line change.
GREET Planting both hands upon the top of a chain-carved mesille runestaff, you nod your head in a casual greeting. Clawing its way to the top, the grik bound to the runestaff nudges its head against your hand, which you pet for a brief moment before sending it back to its place. Tier 4

Fully unlocked at Tier 4, the Globus Naidem runestaff gains the Demonic Paralysis ability, plus several fluff verb traps.

Currently, The runestaff is tier 4 of 4. It has access to the following verb messaging: TICKLE, TURN, TWIST, RAISE (Demonic Dread), BOW, CURTSY, GLANCE (horn features), GAZE (eye features), GREET, RUB (Demonic Paralysis), CHUCKLE, NUDGE.

Costs: 
Demonic Dread (10 charges) - Attempt to instill your target with fear.
Demonic Visage, Horns (10 charges) - Temporary unique line feature change.
Demonic Visage, Eyes (10 charges) - Temporary eye characteristic/color feature change.
Demonic Paralysis (50 charges) - Attempt to root and damage a group of targets.

Verb First Third
CHUCKLE You chuckle lightly, little to no mirth evident in the sound you make, only to have it echoed by the grik imprisoned to your mesille runestaff. XXX chuckles lightly, the sound cold and mirthless. Seconds later, a second sound issues from the grik imprisoned to his mesille runestaff.
NUDGE You nudge the grik bound to your mesille runestaff, granting it permission to stretch. Swiftly unwinding from your runestaff, the demonic prisoner attempts to flee, but the magic binding it to your runestaff suddenly burns with crimson runes, causing it to cry out in pain. Slowly, it slinks back to its place. XXX glances at the grik on his mesille runestaff, causing it to eye him warily. Additional Information

Features

The Tier 3 Globus Naidem staff provides temporary feature changes for eyes and the unique feature line when activated. An example of how this looks like is as follows:

You see XXX.
He appears to be a Human. He is shorter than average.  He appears to be very young.  He has band-pupilled jaundice yellow eyes and pale skin.  He has raggedly cut, shaggy sandy blonde hair with grey at the temples.  He has a long face, a flat nose and deep laugh lines.  He has curved yellowed ibex horns growing from his crown and angling towards the back of his head.

The goat, ibex, oribi, ram, and rolton all have different horns:

  • Goat - He/she has nub-like (horn modifier) horns growing out of his/her brow.
  • Ram - He/she has curled (horn modifier) bighorn ram horns growing from his/her temples.
  • Ibex - He/She has curved (horn modifier) ibex horns growing from his/her crown and angling towards the back of his/her head.
  • Rolton - He/She has curving, looped (horn modifier) rolton horns growing on either side of his/her head.
  • Oribi - He/she has spiky, (horn modifier) oribi horns growing from his/her brow.

Combat Messaging

Parry messaging
XXX hurls a roaring ball of fire at you!
Pulling one hand free from its position around your runestaff, the grik snatches the bolt from the air and tosses the energy into its mouth before falling dormant once more.
Flare messaging
** Lashing out from your staff, the shadowling extends one hand and rakes a claw across a skeletal giant's flesh! **
