> Recap of what happened?

(Name spellings might be a little off since I'm writing from memory.)

Lady Ardtin of the Illistim Council leads the proceedings, speaking with the voice of the Argent Mirror who has not been seen in public since the assassination. She reveals first that the accused, Neidel, has already confessed that he was hired by someone within the city for the murder of Lord Caylio. The accused is then led in, appearing physically unharmed, and after getting confirmation from witnesses that he was the one responsible, she demands that he reveal the name of his patron.

Neidel doesn't say a word.

Ardtin presses him repeatedly, and so do some in the crowd, but to no effect. Neidel doesn't seem even the least bit concerned. Then, just as Ardtin is about to give up, Queen Myasara appears for the first time in weeks.

She asks him once directly to name the conspirator, and when he still refuses, she promptly sentences him to death. Neidel looks around nervously, but no one speaks up for him. As he is led away by the guards, he shouts that he was promised that he would only be exiled, that he only took the job to support his family, that Caylio wasn't even the one he meant to kill. Myasara is unmoved. Desperate, Neidel reveals that Myasara herself was the intended target, and points to one of the Argent Mirror's handmaidens and says that she promised him life.

Lady Hycinthia, brother to the late Caylio, daughter of Lord Captain Murstyr of the royal guard, gapes in shock as the accused points at her. She would never have done this, she protests. She had always been loyal and had served the Argent Mirror for years, they were to be sisters, how could the queen believe the words of a known criminal from the lower classes over her?

But it's evident that the queen does, and as Myasara calls for her handmaiden's arrest, Hycinthia shrieks that she had never received a word of thanks for her service, that the queen's policies are leading the city to ruin. She points at several of the dhe'nar in the gathered crowd as proof of how far the Shining City has fallen, allowing such lesser races to walk openly into the keep. It was Myasara who should have died, she says fervently, leaving her brother as the new Mirror, a man she could have molded.

At the climax of her speech she draws a dagger from her dress, but Lord Murstyr stops her and forces her to drop it. As she stares hatefully, Myasara pronounces her death sentence.

"Death will not stop me!" Hycinthia screams, cackling as she is taken away.

Myasara looks around at the rest of the room, and reflects that no one can be trusted. She dismisses all of her handmaidens from her service in spite of their protests. As she leaves, shouts for Hycinthia's freedom and for the death of the Argent Mirror are heard throughout the city.

Subject: Unrest in the city

Shouts have been heard throughout the Shining City. As her trial date approaches, their cries filled with demands to free Lady Hycinthia. Handmade signs have started popping up about the Dais faster than the guards can tear them down. Those not of pure elven blood have begun taking refuge in their embassies hoping to wait out this latest round of hatred towards non-elves.

On the evening of Charlatos the thirtieth, the Court of Ta'Illistim gathered in the Keep to pass judgement on Lady Hycinthia Javilerre Illistim. Lady Hycinthia was not shy with her thoughts and action, admitting her guilt before the trial even began. She was accused of treason, fratricide and regicide. Members of the audience were given the chance to speak on her behalf, or against. Surprisingly, none spoke for her innocence, but asked the Argent Mirror to give mercy and temper her punishment. Several non-elves went so far as to council the Mirror in her decision, to which she was less than pleased.

Lady Hycinthia could not, however, temper her voice, so the Mirror had her silenced while she announced her verdict.

The Lady Hycinthia was found guilty of high treason and sentenced to death. She will have her head removed by swordsman at a time of the Mirror's choosing. Additionally, her title of lady has now been stripped, and her name stricken from her family's records.

Following the verdict, shouts of anger were heard in the streets and several citizens rushed out in anger. They were quickly put down, although there is some question as to who threw down the riot. The Sapphire Guard was there, but others, not of elven blood, also began attacking people in the street which led to accusations of murder.
