Loresong

Your vision clouds as a voice begins a song,

"He walked and walked through the snow and slush
Freezing weather and cold toes getting in his way
He had to make it home to his family
Who were awaiting his return with worry."

The voice continues to sing the song,

"His ma had sent word his pa was most ill
But his feet would take him no faster, his feet were so chill
He fell near a house with lights burning bright
A woman so comely found him that night."

The unravelling story continues as the voice sings,

"The woman who found him brought him to her fire
She gave him some drink; he told her of his sire
She went to her bedroom and returned with new boots
They fit his feet perfectly and they were the color of soot."

The singer continues the song, as it fills your head,

"He offered her money for the beautiful things
She refused saying "My heart made these for a special halfling."
He ran to his father's with resolve and speed
Although he buried his father, his mother agreed."

The voice softens as the song continues,

"He should fly to the woman and ask for her hand
And offer her his mother's wedding band
He ran back to the lady's home in the middle of the wood
He asked her to marry him as they both knew they should."

The voice is almost quiet as it continues the song,

"Today they walk together in the lands beyond the Gate
Together they will be forever, in a most loving state."

A tiny voice enters your mind and sing,

"The night was moonless and dark
As the halfling rode on his way
He was hurrying home as quickly as he could
To the house near the bay."

The voice fades into nothing as the words die away.
