Trick Or Treat is a SimuCoin activity re-introduced at Ebon Gate 2020 on Caligos Isle. This replaced Deep Sea Diving.

How it Works

First, purchase a key from the SimuCoin store. Each key allows for ten treats. Then, you enter the Trick or Treat area and are randomly dropped into a room. Find a door and KNOCK on it. Each entry will earn you up to ten "treats." After you've knocked on a door, you won't be able to knock on the same one for thirty seconds. That means you'll need to move around the area to get all your knocks in. The area may be a bit familiar, but it's an old location that is now beached on the shores of Caligos.

Results

Tricks

You'll get "tricks" approximately 25% of the time that you KNOCK. These will not impact your ten treats. Trick are angered spirits (non-corporeal undead using the zombie base) and do not drop any loot. You'll need to dispatch them before being able to knock again. When the undead spawns, you will automatically target it.

The area is not instanced, and instead uses a new tactic with creatures that debuted this run. The person who knocks is the only person the undead can attack. Anyone else can attack it though, so if you need help, get a friend to come join you! It is recommended to explore the area in pairs or small groups to stay safe. If you run away, the creature will follow you and immediately try to strike you.

If you die inside of the area, you won't be removed. Instead, another player can heal you or the azure-robed ghostly cleric can.

Upon exiting the area, you are healed. You'll also get credit for each undead you kill inside, up to 10, that awards you 100 additional experience (on top of the experience you get for killing the creatures) after you're moved out of the event by finishing your KNOCKs. This can saturate you. If you're already saturated, it will be 100 instant experience.

Treats

There are multiple treats possible with each KNOCK in addition to the trick (undead creature that attacks).

Occasionally, KNOCKing on the door could result in more seashells. You will sometimes be awarded a small bag of seashells that will be between 100 and 200 seashells. And occasionally you'll be awarded between 1000 and 2000 seashells. There are no special announcements, and the seashells are automatically redeemed. Comparatively, these extra seashells will be quite a bit more frequent than sewer caches at Duskruin Arena.

Candy

One of the rewards of Trick Or Treating is candy. Candy can be eaten or combined with other candies of like type for rewards. It can also be sold for 25 seashells at the Junker's attendant.

Analyze of some dried fruit (a type of candy):

You analyze your dried fruit and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

This is some dried fruit from Ebon Gate's Trick or Treat activity.

Combine identical candies (up to 3 bites) to the next tier, and turn the candy in for a prize, or continue to combine them for higher tiers (up to Tier 5). There are no prizes for Tier 1 candies, so those must be combined. Tier 5 candies cannot be combined and must be turned in for their associated prize.

This dried fruit is Tier 1, and it has 1 bite.

USAGE:
BREAK: Remove a piece of candy from a bundle.
BUNDLE: Combine identical candies (Limit 2, since 3 bumps to the next tier; not eligible for Tier 5 candy).
HUG: See the list of available rewards.
NUDGE: Turn in the candy for a prize.
TWIST: Open a piece of wrapped candy.
WAVE: Convert your treat to edible candy. (NOTE: This will remove the ability to either BUNDLE or NUDGE.)

You get no sense of whether or not the fruit may be further lightened.

There are five different groups of candies and each group has five tiers.

  • Group 1 = QUEST
  • Group 2 = LOCKER
  • Group 3 = EXPERIENCE
  • Group 4 = ENHANCIVE
  • Group 5 = GUILD

Tier 1 candy does not provide a reward, so your only option is to BUNDLE it with another of the same group. It takes 3 candies of the same group to progress a piece to the next tier. So, if you have 3 Tier 1 candies and bundle them, on the 3rd bundle the candy will auto-convert to 1-bite of Tier 2 candy for that group. At that point, you can continue to bundle (it takes 3 Tier 2 candies to get 1 Tier 3 candy of the same group), or you can take the reward for Tier 2 in that group. Tier 5 candy will only provide a reward and cannot be bundled.

All candy can be WAVEd to turn it into edible food. However, this removes the collectability of the item and is an irreversible change. You will receive confirmation upon doing this.

Following is a list of candy and associated prizes. You can HUG your candy to see this list, and there will be a monsterbold asterisk next to the prize corresponding to the piece of candy that you are holding.

One piece of Tier 2 through Tier 5 candy can be turned in to receive one of the following. (Specific candy results in a specific item.)

Paper Candy Bags

Candy can be gathered in special paper bags which can be worn on the belt. There is no limit to the number of pieces that can be dropped into the bag. Containers will become attuned the first time you drop candy into it. There are a few other details worth mentioning:

  • You can only remove one piece at a time.
  • You can put in bundled candies and it will add the "bites".
  • The container will not auto-bundle candy placed inside.
  • One container will hold every type of candy.
  • While the container will hold wrapped candy, you cannot bundle wrapped candy.

Analyze of paper bag:

You analyze your black paper bag and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

This is a special container, designed to hold candy from Ebon Gate's Trick or Treat activity. It can be used by anyone in your household, but it will be useless to others. The first time you put a piece of candy into the bag, it will attune.

Candy can be placed into the container, regardless of how many bites it has, but you can only retrieve one piece at a time.

Alterations are fine, as long as the container retains a foldable top and remains suitable to hang from or hook onto a belt/waist item. This item will not support a SHOW description.

USAGE:
DROP - Put a piece of candy into the bag.
LOOK - Standard response; LOOK IN bag will show the compartment contents.
OPEN - Open the bag.
CLOSE - Close the bag.
TURN - Set a candy focus (forward).
PULL - Remove a piece of candy (whichever has focus from TURN or PUSH).
PUSH - Set a candy focus (backward).

This item cannot be lightened or deepened.

Looking in a bag with candy in it:

The black paper bag appears to be a very sturdy and spacious container despite its seemingly small size. Evenly spaced compartments line the interior.

A more thorough investigation inside the bag reveals the following:
