Map Image At Risk For Deletion
Hello, BURGHALGNOME. You recently uploaded a map image to the wiki, File:Imt-glaoveln-map.png, that appears to violage the Gswiki:Policy for Copyrights, specifically for Maps. Maps should only be uploaded by the original creator or, in certain circumstances, the editor who updated the map to account for new areas. There does not appear to be any statement on the map image to indicate that you have edited it or when. This is required for all map images that have been modified by someone other than the original map creator. I have flagged the map image for moderator review and deletion.
If this file is the original, unedited map image, it will need to be uploaded by the original map creator. If you have made edits to the map, then you will need to indicate this per the copyright section on maps and reupload it with that text included both on the image itself as well as in the image file comments. If an image file update is not added within 7 days, this image will be deleted from the wiki. Please do not remove the {{moddelete}} template from the image. Another moderator or I will remove that template after your updates have been reviewed to ensure that they meet Gswiki:Policy requirements. If you have any questions about this process or need more information about the updated policy for maps, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thank you for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 11:45, 26 June 2024 (CDT)
Timeline - Imperial Northern Aggression
Hi there, BURGHALGNOME. In response to your question about the categories I adjusted on your article, Timeline - Imperial Northern Aggression, this was done because the article is presented as a character-written essay and was labeled by you as player-written creative content. Typically, larger over-encompassing categories such as those for an entire nation or race are not appropriate for player-written creative content. However, smaller and more specialized categories, such as Category:Wehnimer's Landing Independence are still very appropriate; those smaller categories are in turn lumped in with the larger categories to help facilitate users finding related articles. The examples you shared are standalone articles and not player-written creative content. There are tens of thousands of articles on the Gswiki, and if some are improperly categorized, other moderators or I adjust them as we run across them. This is usually, but not exclusively, based on which articles have had recent edits, which is why you likely have seen that many older articles are not necessarily in compliance with current Gswiki Style Guide standards.
Hopefully this explanation helps you better understand why I adjusted the categories on your article. As an aside, if you ever need to add a "signature" to a something communicated via talk pages, you can do so by inserting ~~~~ following your message; while not required, it is an easy way to do so that is built into the Media Wiki software. Thank you again for all of your contributions to the Gswiki. Please let me know if you have any other questions. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 09:02, 23 May 2024 (CDT)

State of Wehnimer's Landing: A Town Dividied
State of Wehnimer’s Landing: A Town of Resilience and Change
The frontier town of Wehnimer’s Landing continues to navigate its way through significant developments and challenges, emerging from a prolonged period of conflict with the Turamzzyrian Empire. While the town remains steadfast in its democratic foundations, differing narratives about its current state have surfaced, including a colorful letter received from a self-proclaimed "King."
The following letter was received and is presented in full, though its claims should be taken with caution, as Wehnimer’s Landing remains a democratic city, not ruled by any singular figure.
- "Me writed yoo in guards to da state of me Whemdingersh. Ever sinch me declare me Kingchip ufda town, dere be less chaos, more stabillyity and lotta propspeerin. Yoo King, Gutstorm GrogSlammer, Head Libarbarian of Drake Vanguar"*
While Gutstorm GrogSlammer’s letter provides an amusing and personal account of the Landing’s state, the reality of the town’s situation is, perhaps, a bit more complex.
Wehnimer’s Landing has recently emerged from a prolonged conflict with the Turamzzyrian Empire, which has expanded its borders to claim lands near the town. These lands are now under the leadership of Elidal Dhenan, a figure whose presence has sparked disdain among various factions in the region. The tension between those wishing to remain free of foreign rule and those seeking cooperation with the Empire continues to shape the town's political landscape.
Despite these challenges, the Landing has seen notable improvements. The repair of a critical bridge now provides better access to the dwarven mountain to the east, facilitating trade and travel. Efforts to rebuild and stabilize the town have strengthened its resilience as a hub for both frontier trade and adventurer's seeking glory at the ever shrinking northern edge of civilization.
Wehnimer’s Landing remains a town whose influence often exceeds what one would expect of such a small city. Though chaos and humor often intertwine with its daily affairs, the town continues to hold its place as a bastion of freedom and equal opportunity on the edge of the Turamzzyrian Empire’s ever-expanding reach. Sitting at the edge of a river, a hub for dwarven trade and finding itself between two growing powerful nations the Landing attempts to remain relevant and independent in an ever changing political landscape.
Organizations
The Drakes Vanguard and Raise You'r Stout Krew are both active in the city on a regular basis, the former doing patrols up to three times a week to ensure the town's safety. Either would provide guidance and fellowship to those who seek it. The Landing is also home to the majority of cooperative houses and you will find no shortage of people willing to assist or provide directions.
State of the Elven Nations
The Elven Nations enter the new year amidst significant transformations, heralded by the ascension of Sayilla Javilerre as the new Argent Mirror of Ta'Illistim, one of the great city-states. To better understand the current state of Ta'Illistim, we present the full letter received from Loremaster Rohese Bayvel Illistim:
"It is with gratitude and respect for the Wendwillows that I write in response to your inquiry regarding the state of our beloved Ta'Illistim. May Lumnis guide this correspondence swiftly to your hands.
Under the guidance of Her Illumination, our new Argent Mirror, Sayilla Javilerre, our city thrives and once more shines as a beacon of learning, culture, and elven refinement. The transition of leadership has brought renewed strength to the Peacock Throne, and her adherence to tradition, matched only by her progressive vision, is ensuring that Ta'Illistim remains a sanctuary for scholarship and an exemplar among our kin.
Our economy thrives, as evidenced by the bustling trade at the monthly markets and the refurbishment of many retail establishments. Initiatives to fortify diplomatic ties with our allies, particularly with the Vaalorians across the lake, continue to bear fruit, ensuring our collective security, and Nielira Harbor in Ta'Nalfein continues to serve as an open port for mutually beneficial trade agreements.
Should you, or any of your colleagues, wish to travel to Ta'Illistim, know that you would find her gates open and her people welcoming, as ever. Your voice would be welcome at Court should you have insights or concerns to share.
May the blessings of Lumnis guide and protect you in your endeavors.
In friendship, Loremaster Rohese Bayvel Illistim Affiliate of the Unending Circle"
In addition to the Loremaster's information, sources have provided insights into the broader state of the Elven Nations. An anonymous source from Ta'Vaalor reveals that the King of Vaalor maintains a commanding presence in his city-state, focusing on fortifying internal relationships, particularly with the harbor of Mist Watch and the Greengair Forest Gnome Compound. Reports speak of pirate threats being successfully repelled and ambitious plans to modernize aging infrastructure. The Crimson Legion continues to stand as a formidable military force, exemplifying elven strength and vigilance.
Beyond these prominent city-states, activity has surged in the eastern regions. Cysaegir has experienced a rise in mercantile activity, while border regions have reported an increased Erithian presence, suggesting deeper cultural exchanges.
Organizations
The Crimson Guard continues to uphold a strong presence in the eastern nations, with both active and reserve members frequently encountered. Meanwhile, the Gilded Talon Consortium and the Ilyan Syndicate have made notable strides, exerting influence through economic and social advancements across elven society.
State of Kraken’s Fall: A Haven for Adventurers
The Kraken's Fall Board of Tourism sent the following information by way of a representative:
Business continues to prosper in Kraken's Fall. Away from the rule of conventional law and government, merchants from far and wide continue to offer their wares and talents to the eager masses. Held by the Kraken's Fall Board of Tourism, The Winter Night Market, scheduled for the 24th of Lormestra, hopes to draw more commerce through its local merchant fare.
The island continues to host its famous monthly markets, drawing visitors seeking rare goods and unforgettable experiences.
Despite their reliance on trade, locals maintain a strong sense of independence and self-reliance. As one unnamed source on the island shared, “We welcome tourists and traders with open arms—they bring life and business to the island. But we’re just as happy when they board their ships and leave us to our peace.”
This sentiment captures the dual nature of Kraken’s Fall as both a destination for adventure and a haven for its fiercely independent residents. Away from the tangled politics and drama of the mainland, the island offers travelers a chance to escape and focus on their own pursuits, whether it be trading exotic wares, exploring the surrounding seas, or simply enjoying the island’s rugged beauty.
Among the recent attractions is the mysterious resurfacing of a temple dedicated to an ancient water elemental. Now overrun with Tritons, the temple has become a focal point for adventurers seeking fortune and fame. The dangers are great, but the lure of relics and lost knowledge continues to draw thrill-seekers to the site.
The Wandering Eye Market is where you will likely find the most current gossip and news.
State of Icemule: Rebuilding and Rising in the North
The town of Icemule Trace stands at a pivotal moment in its history, actively rebuilding from recent conflicts while becoming central to the formation of the burgeoning Northwatch nation. As the most central and most prominent settlement in the region, Icemule has embraced its role as the spiritual hub of political cooperation in the northern frontier.
After enduring attacks from Sablecross and successfully rescuing Mayor Talliver Dabbings, Icemule is in a period of rest and regrowth. The town’s citizens are united in their efforts to restore and improve local infrastructure, creating a stronger foundation for the future.
Significant plans are underway to enhance travel and trade in the region. These include building fishing docks at the Frostmane and Thurfel's Island to facilitate trade with the northern giants and beyond, the instillation of mule-drawn sleighs to improve the movement of goods, particularly to the Crystal Hall, and constructing a new trail with watchtowers to better connect Icemule with the Crystal Hall.
Icemule’s strategic location and bustling commerce have made it a base for northern exploration and trade. With a variety of shops catering to travelers and locals alike, the town has experienced an economic boom, bolstered by its role as a supply hub for expeditions into the frozen wilderness.
As the heart of Northwatch, Icemule is playing a central role in forming a coalition of northern communities. This alliance brings together diverse races, including Halflings, Krolvins, Giants, Sylvans, and Humans, to foster mutual support and collaboration. Mayor Talliver Dabbings has proposed the establishment of an assembly to ensure representation from all founding groups.
The Temple of Icemule Trace, a focal point for the town’s spiritual and communal life, is undergoing renovations. Among the changes is the construction of a section dedicated to the Krolvin’s three-faced god, a significant cultural addition reflecting the town’s growing diversity. While some see this as a sign of progress and inclusivity, others view it as emblematic of a troubling shift. An anonymous source remarked, “Icemule has gone crazy with the blood magic and strange gods. It looks nothing like it used to.”
The juxtaposition between this sentiment and the official stance of the Regulators of the Northern Frontier is striking. In a recent statement, Commander Lilanna Silvermist wrote:
"Visitors and returning citizens should be aware that many changes have occurred in the north. Most notably: blood magic is legal, and we have many new citizens including Krolvin. The Regulators of the Northern Frontier highly value integrity and honor, as such, regardless of our personal beliefs, we will protect the safety and freedoms of all our law-abiding citizens."
These contrasting perspectives highlight the complexities of Icemule’s transformation. While the town strives to embrace its growing diversity and ensure the safety of its citizens, not everyone agrees with the direction it is taking.
The Krolvin continue to play an essential role in the region, providing naval defense and contributing to the growing network of northern trade routes. Briarmoon Cove remains a critical economic hub, serving as a vibrant port for goods and supplies that fuel the economic ambitions of Northwatch.
Travel in the Northwatch region remains a challenge, marked by difficult terrain and formidable dangers. The journey from Wehnimer’s Landing through the Dragonsclaw Forest, Glacier Pass, and Frozen Lake to reach Icemule is fraught with risks. Venturing into the Hinterwilds involves navigating the Long Snow and crossing the Issenflow River while facing unknown perils. Traversing Mount Aenatumgana to Pinefar or braving the harsh seas to reach the Isle of Glaoveln also presents significant challenges.
Overall, the region is working to solidify new alliances and forge an alliance that can withstand future trials and tribulations.
Organizations
The Regulators of the Northern Frontier are a known local militia that are active in town events, and while many of the cooperative houses have annexes in or around Icemule, White Haven is the only cooperative house based in Icemule itself and is often at the center of local festivities and social events.
State of Sablecross
Sablecross is a city steeped in mystery and controversy, spoken of in hushed tones across the northern realms of Elanthia. Rarely seen and shrouded in secrecy, the city is rumored to be a haven for followers of the Lornon pantheon, whose faith and practices often set them at odds with much of the civilized world.
The enigmatic city has drawn attention due to conflicting reports from those who claim to have witnessed it firsthand. Dendum, the forest gnome, recounts a harrowing experience involving a rescue attempt for the Mayor of Icemule that led him into the heart of Sablecross:
“Sablecross, had misfortune of falling into that dark place when rescuing the Mayor of Icemule, saw great and horrible temples dedicated to dark gods before cursed magic whisked us away, but the city is not in ruins. It is dark shadow on the lands. Rumors state that Sablecross, and evil Duskcoven that lives there, has turned its eyes south to the Landing.”
Dendum also described dark magical experiments, ominous rituals, and growing military forces and creations that hint at a rising threat beyond mere theological disagreements.
In contrast, another anonymous source describes the city as a place of peace and learning for the faithful of Lornon:
"Sablecross is a refuge for those who follow the Lornon pantheon, away from the inquisitions of the rest of the world the people of Sablecross have found peace and a place to study and learn. The town is a testament to the hard work of its locals with well-built structures that rival any other town in Elanthia. Of course, no one knows where Sablecross is, other than the Duskcoven perhaps, which keeps it safe. The people of Sablecross and adventurers who frequent the city appreciate the solitude and ability to worship as they wish."
It is unknown what the effect of the town, and its leaders, operating closer to the Empire will cause. The Duskcoven has been responsible for a series of murders in the Turamzzyrian Empire and the Elven Nations and are rumored to have played a part in damaging relationships between other cities as well.
Organizations
No one knows of any other organizations, other than the Duskcoven, which are fully based in Sablecross. The Solhaven cult known as the Order of Eternal Light is said to have frequent dealings with the place and were some of the first adventurers to visit. It may be possible to learn more by talking to them. Rumors also suggest that other smaller factions, yet unnamed, may be forming alliances within the city, adding further layers to its complex web of power.
