Illusions
A Sorcerer Guild skill focused on obfuscation and creating objects from nothing. This skill comprises six (6) individual illusions which are studied and practiced in sequence.
Rose
Roses are the first of the illusions you will learn to make, and are the easiest to create. It is a detailed black rose, made of pure essence. They also offer the most roleplaying functions of the six illusions. It also offers the ability to change one's eye color, including the eye color of Eye Spy (707).
- TAP ROSE : Causes the rose to dissolve and temporarily reform into the shape any one of a number of creatures.
- COVER ROSE : Causes the rose to turn invisible, but still remain in the sorcerer's hand. Covering it again will bring it back into visibility.
- RUB ROSE : Causes the rose to dissolve into a collection of swirling motes of essence, before returning to the shape of a rose.
- POINT ROSE AT <Character/Container> : Allows one to put the rose into the hand of a character, or to put a rose inside of a container, including worn containers and objects such as benches.
- THROW ROSE AT <Character> : Throws the rose at the character, while turning the rose into a black essence stiletto which shatters harmlessly on the chest before returning to the hand of the thrower.
- EAT ROSE : Allows for the sorcerer to dispose of the eye by eating it. Upon eating a rose, the essence travels through the skin and covers the eyes, giving the sorcerer a temporary eye description of pupiless black-sheened eyes. This can be used in conjunction with Eye Spy (707) to give the floating eye a black-sheened appearance. If a non sorcerer eats an eye, it casts the spell Nightmare (713) on him or her.
- CLENCH ROSE : Causes the sorcerer to clench his or her fist around the rose, upon which it sprouts long but harmless thorns.
Vortex
The vortex is the second illusion, learned at rank 7 in Illusions. It is a colorless, swirling whirlwind of essence dust and debris. It offers no roleplaying verbs, but can be dispersed by using various verbs on it, including PEER, GRIN, and SMILE.
Maelstrom
The third illusion learned in this guild skill, the maelstrom is a stronger version of the previous, vortex. It is learned after vortex, at rank 14. Energy is formed within the palm of the hand, and using it, a vortex is created, but is further strengthened. Churning air, arcing lightning, and even hailstones are generated as the illusion tempest is created. As with the vortex, it offers no roleplaying verbs but can be dispersed through certain verbs.
