=== Overview ===

The boss creature system can upgrade newly created creatures into bosses, minibosses, or packs. Upgraded creatures have their level and basic stats boosted, and are granted a number of special abilities called boons. Bosses are semi-unique and will always be created with the same special boons, minibosses have randomly selected boons, and packs have randomly selected boons and show up with multiple friends.

=== Boons ===

Boons are loosely divided into 3 tiers. Bosses will be granted the same boons every time that they appear, and may have additional special abilities. Minibosses will be granted a random selection of boons, and at most one tier three boon. Packs are granted fewer boons than minibosses, are limited to tier one or two, and the pack will have all of the same boons.
