Pocket adding is a merchant service that adds a pocket to an item that is unpocketed, such as clothing found in the treasure system. More complicated items like fancy gowns and other scripted attire may also be able to be worked on, depending on if the merchant is willing to work on the item script, and if the item script is able to be worked on in this manner.

Use the INSPECT verb to determine if an item is pocketed. This service is NOT the same as deepening.

Examples

The examples below are intended to demonstrate what might be able to be worked on. There is no guarantee of any pocket size that the merchant might create, or that the GameMaster performing the service will be comfortable working on that item.

Simple cloak from treasure system

Eselde has accepted your offer and is now holding an ora-edged serpent skin longcoat.

Eselde slits an opening between the lining and exterior of the cloak, adding a large pocket.

J>insp my long
You carefully inspect your serpent skin longcoat.

You estimate that an ora-edged serpent skin longcoat can store a significant amount with enough space for any number of items.

You determine that you could wear the longcoat, hanging it from your shoulders. The longcoat appears to serve some purpose.

You remember that you registered this item about a minute ago.

Enhancive belt

Eselde accepts XXXX's black leather belt.

>insp my bel
You carefully inspect your black leather belt.

You estimate that a simple black leather belt can store a very small amount with enough space for a couple of items.

You determine that you could wear the belt around your waist. The belt appears to serve some purpose.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of organic material.
>anal my belt
You analyze your black leather belt and sense that the item is free from merchant alteration restrictions.

You can tell that the belt is as light as it can get, but you might be able to have a talented merchant deepen its pockets for you.

WoundedWear

XXXX offers Eselde a soft purple undershirt drenched with blood.

(Eselde searches the undershirt for the appropriate place to put a small pocket, then takes a piece of silk and stitches it in quickly.)

Wings

XXXX offers Eselde some veil-iron spiked skeletal dragon wings.

Eselde asks, "Where am I supposed to put a pocket on a skeleton?"

YYYY says, "In the rib cage area? it's literally a cage..."

Speaking to YYYY, Eselde says, "Helpful."

(Eselde sighs slightly and finds a piece of gossamer, which she fashions along the inside of the wings.)

Book

XXXX offers Eselde a rune-carved black leather tome.

Eselde says, "Hmm... pocket in a book..."

Eselde says, "What a good idea."

Taxidermy

Eselde stares at her dead cat.

Eselde shakes her dead cat and watches dead fleas fall to the ground.

Eselde takes her small knife and cuts a discreet flap in the belly fur of the cat.
