Bee's Knees

Bee's Knees is a vial that houses a bee or bumblebee from the Bugs on Parade system and will create individual perfume combinations. The bee/bumblebee must be in gemstone form. It first appeared in the shop of the same name at Rumor Woods 2025.

You analyze the ebon hexagon vial and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

This tiny magic vial can house a bee that will make small doses of perfume for you.

To Add a Bee:
Obtain any gemstone bee or bumblebee from the Bugs on Parade system and PUSH it into the vial.

To Create a Perfume:
1.  With a bee installed, WAVE your vial at a piece of foraged fruit or berry.
2.  With a bee installed, WAVE your vial at a foraged flower.
3.  TURN your vial to obtain the starting notes of your perfume.

Additional Information:
RUB will put the perfume on you once it is created, SMELL will give you a preview of the perfume, CLEAN will remove the perfume from your vial, PULL removes the current bee so it can be replaced, while SMOOCH and TICKLE are fluff verbs for when a bee is inside.

Some final Notes:
This vial is a magical item.  You can hold it or wear it to work with it.  It creates 4 doses of perfume each time you work with the bee inside.

Alteration Guidelines:
You may alter the vial, but it can only take a base or long description change.  The SHOW is stock.
Please make sure that you are not contradicting the stock show when coming up with your design.
Due to the nature of the item, only the following nouns are acceptable:  ampoule, bottle, flacon, flask, periapt, phial, and vial.

PUSH {BEE/BUMBLEBEE GEMSTONE}	You press a furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee into a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial. The glass warms under your fingertips as golden light flickers inside. The gemstone quivers, then slowly shifts within the vial, reshaping into the living form of a furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee that buzzes softly and hovers in place, alive and alert. A soft glow pulses within the vial, casting warm golden light through the glass before fading into stillness.
RUB	You gently place your fingertip over your open ebon hexagon vial as yellow and ebon honeybee resting upon the lip quickly flits atop your finger. You carefully tip the vessel upside down, then deftly return it upright, dabbing the fragrant oil onto your pulse points and behind each ear as the yellow and ebon honeybee returns to its perch. SMELL	Lifting a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial to your nose, you breathe deeply of the scent contained within. You get a sense that when you wear the perfume, you will have the following scent on you: The rich scent of red winterberry blossom honey seeps into your skin like slow-poured syrup, the caramel notes tempered by sandalwood. Butterfly pea flowers bring a faintly earthy sweetness, floral with soft green edges and a touch of dusky tea undertones.	Lifting his ebon hexagon vial to his nose, Ayleano breathes deeply of the scent contained within.

SMOOCH	You make a gentle coaxing sound near the opening of a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial. A soft hum stirs from within its depths as a furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee rises slowly, wings flickering in the ambient light. It hovers at the rim, tilting in slow arcs as it inspects the air, then slowly crawls quietly back inside.	Ayleano makes a soft coaxing sound near the opening of a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial. A soft hum stirs from within its depths as a furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee rises slowly, wings flickering in the ambient light. It hovers at the rim, tilting in slow arcs as it inspects the air, then slowly crawls quietly back inside.
TICKLE	A furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee crawls slowly out of your ebon hexagon vial, its tiny legs gripping the rim as it perches delicately on the lip. You extend a finger and gently stroke its fuzzy body. The little bee leans into the touch, nuzzling against your fingertip with a motion reminiscent of a kitten. WAVE VIAL AT {FRUIT/BERRY}	You hold a red winterberry close to a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial. It circles the winterberry curiously, tiny legs reaching out to brush against its surface. After a brief pause, it emits a bright buzz and darts away in search of the blossom that once bore the winterberry. You hear the faint sounds of buzzing as a furry golden yellow and ebon honeybee returns, pausing briefly to rest upon the lip of your ebon hexagon vial. It gives a little shake, depositing bits of pollen into the vessel's depths and changing the composition within.	Ayleano lifts a red winterberry near a gold-edged ebon hexagon vial. Additional Information

A Bee's Knees vial has a hard-coded LOOK/SHOW description, which features the bee inserted. Because of this, it can only support long description alterations.

Etched in honeycomb patterns, the vial gleams with floriated designs, each blossom traced in delicate gilded filaments.  Thin amber bands encircle the rounded base, every yellow-orange ring carved with a tiny, stylized bee.

Curled up in slumber, a round-bodied lucent gold bumblebee rests at the bottom of the vial.

Making Perfume

When using PUSH to insert a bee/bumblebee, the insect must be in the right hand and it must be a gemstone version of a Bugs on Parade insect. The perfume-creating process consumes the bee/bumblebee gemstone. Upon the last dose being used, the vial clears out all of its data except for the bee, which will persist unless it is manually removed/destroyed.

Foraged fruits, flowers, and berries are the only items that can be added. The perfume-creating process does not consume the fruit, flower, or berry. Fruits or berries determine the first notes of the created perfume, which can have their phrasing cycled between set options via TURN. Flowers determine the finishing notes. Different types of flowers have their own unique scents when turned into perfume, which are specific to the flower or flower type foraged.

Any fruit/flower that is 10 characters or more does not get the adjective added to it to prevent long/awkward berries before "blossom honey", which is a hardcoded component of the perfume messaging. Plural fruit/berries are reduced to their singular form, including for grapes, currants, and cherries.

Each combination creates 4 doses of perfume. The perfume is stored in the vial and cannot be extracted to share. Perfume lasts for the standard 4 hours.

The order of operations does not matter. You can WAVE {BERRY/FRUIT}, WAVE {FLOWER}, or TURN in any order. However, you must have a fruit/berry and flower installed in order to RUB and apply the perfume.

TURN works at any point on the vial. If you apply the perfume, decide you want a different opening note, then you can TURN again and reapply. It will shift the first notes sentence, but not the berry/fruit or flower.

Perfume made by the vial can not be poured onto paper. The perfume is not drinkable.
