Summary

 • At around three in the morning, Malluch Burdos extends an ESP greeting. Mayor Leafiara sends a wolf scouting and Malluch tells her (the wolf) to tell her (Leafi) to come, so a very small crowd gathers without fanfare and Malluch notes that progress might be made because of it.
 • Malluch says he has no intention of surrendering to Thadston, but also no desire to see townspeople or those in his camp harmed. He says those who want to hear his message are growing in number and he's been in town countless times talking with the citizens, and they won't tell us because they fear conflict, but yearn for truth and find ways to let him in. He says the Blood God is coming soon to take those who answer his call and his (Malluch's) purpose is to get his message to as many as who will hear it before that time comes.
 • Iskandr asks what they'll do and where they'll go when their growing group needs space or land; Malluch says they won't be here for long since the Blood God will call them home. Magister Raelee asks what 'home' means here and he says where the Blood God reigns. He says he needs more time and will defend against Thadston if he has to.
 • Malluch says he received a letter from Kothos--but before he can get into it, Thrassus says he thinks Thadston is just looking for a reason to kill him. Iskandr says he agrees with Thadston, but is worried what would happen if Malluch dies; Malluch says the Blood God won't permit him to die, but he's worried for the people in his camps.
 • Malluch says Kothos' letter offers sanctuary, as a temporary idea. Leafi interjects that if it's the Ivasian temple, then Malluch sending people there is none of her business or concern; he says it should be her concern, as a separate matter of whether it's her jurisdiction.
 • Kothos arrives and Malluch says he's considering his offer. The Blood God will come within two weeks, but with Thadston giving him a week and Malluch not intending to surrender, he's considering sanctuary for the civilians in his camp.
 • In light of his belief that the Rooks slaughtered the caravan and Thadston threatens to march into the woods, he asks if the mayor can assist with safe escort to the temple, perhaps with the town guard, the honorable Silver Gryphons, or reaching out to Lord Breshon. Leafi says she won't ask this of the town guard and doubts Breshon would hear him out, but the Gryphons she can ask, and she assumes many local adventurers would aid too. Kothos says Guarrin would help and they talked earlier, and believes Lazaryth and Alvyara would as well. Umbazi says he is a Gryphon and will relay everything to his brethren.
 • Iskandr says he's seen better healing in the square; Malluch says healing is more than the body, but returning to one's true purpose. Iskandr says he's excited to see this power that hasn't existed at all; Malluch says faith is trusting.
 • Raelee says she can't make promises for Breshon, but can attempt, and asks if, in exchange for aid, Malluch can take time to speak to the curious. She knows the Blood God, but doesn't know Malluch, and would like to know the particulars of his healing. Malluch says he's a vessel who calls upon the Blood God, and what he (Grishom) wills to happen happens. Iskandr says to show him why he should believe; Malluch says that's the opposite of faith. Raelee asks him if he can see merit in further education; Malluch says there will be and has been, as the movement's growing.
 • Umbazi says we don't trust Stone, who's attacked the Landing in the past. Leafi says Malluch has too, but there were extenuating circumstances. She tells Malluch she's sorry it's come to this, when he should have been pardoned after we learned about the Alchemist, but it's a bit late now. Malluch asks if it is too late; he's still a citizen and a pardon would neutralize Thadston. She says she could extend a pardon for the Rone incidents, but not the jailbreak, and doesn't think a pardon would stay Thadston's hand. Malluch presses, saying past mayors have pardoned Drangell and Stephos and he hopes he ranks lower than them in vileness.
 • Leafi says she'll give the pardon consideration, but in the meantime, there were more things she disagreed with in 5118 than just Malluch's imprisonment and she returns his Jastev symbol, saying it rightfully belongs to him and to think of it as a memento of Lana if nothing else. He thanks her and says he appreciates that, and she says she'll think about the pardon, as she had no problem with his time as Rone. Malluch gives assurances that if she does pardon him for all crimes, his camp will be gone within two weeks. (Iskandr and Umbazi ask gone to where; he says to the Deadfall.) He'll also take no action to escalate violence other than defending himself if needed, but hopefully protection from the Gryphons or others will ensure that that's not needed.
 • Kothos asks what Malluch needs; Malluch says, regardless of a pardon or not, they'll move to the Vipershroud if protective escort can be assured both while moving and temporarily while residing there. He asks if the Eve of Volnes is enough time to arrange the protection details and consider a pardon; she says that's really soon and she can't speak for the Gryphons. Malluch asks if the Gryphons meet tomorrow and counterproposes Tilamaires. Thrassus says Thadston's likely to make his move once he gets wind of a pardon or the transport and Malluch agrees, saying both will have to be determined at the same time.

A Surprise Talk

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Rawdune disk, a cloud greatfang, the Gherraltis disk, a small raven, a scratched modwir trunk, a green tree frog that is sitting, a large acorn, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

Also here: Mayor Leafiara, Rawdune, Orbeck, Hemwick, Hezadjor, Raeyshencarl, Eulysiua, Gherraltis, Journeyman Yavs, Elminloc who is sitting, Great Lord Torpe, Raestek who is sitting, Ellottos

[General] Malluch thinks, "Hello."

[General] Leafiara surprisedly greets, "Well, hello, Malluch."

Speaking musingly to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Well, here we go again."

Iskandr asks, "What?"

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Malluch's out and about, apparently."

Iskandr says, "Ok, then here we go."

[elsewhere...]

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Forest]

Modwir trees predominate this section of forest, as though the oak, satisfied with its allotted space, has made room for the tall pines. You also see a charred skull on a pike, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a covered wagon, a grey-armored bloodguard and a grey-armored bloodguard. Obvious paths: north, south, northwest

Lord Malluch just arrived.

Lord Malluch just went north.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Forest]

Your ears are becoming more attuned to the sounds of the forest surrounding you. Over your footsteps you hear the sounds of small birds overhead, comfortably nested in the sturdy oak trees. You also see a black truffle, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a covered wagon, a grey-armored bloodguard and a grey-armored bloodguard.

Also here: Lord Malluch

[General] Taulramil asks, "Anyone know where that airship is by Icemule?"

Malluch nods to the one-eyed wolf.

Malluch says, "Tell the Mayor to come."

The one-eyed wolf barks loudly.

[General] Nyatherra thinks, "Outside of North gate and then NE."

Leafiara says, "I suppose we'll go see him."

Leafiara recites:

"Join up!"

Yavs raspily says, "I go in peace."

Intentions Moving Forward

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Forest]

Your ears are becoming more attuned to the sounds of the forest surrounding you. Over your footsteps you hear the sounds of small birds overhead, comfortably nested in the sturdy oak trees. You also see a rolton, an one-eyed wolf, a black truffle, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a covered wagon, a grey-armored bloodguard and a grey-armored bloodguard.

Also here: Lord Malluch

Leafiara nods to Malluch in greeting.

Malluch nods.

Leafiara calls upon the local spirits and directs them through the area...

Leafiara gestures.

A sense of peace and calm settles over the area.

Malluch says, "A smaller crowd. Good." [at this point it's just Leafi, Iskandr, and Yavs]

Malluch says, "Progress might actually be made."

Speaking calmly to Malluch, Leafiara begins, "Well, believe it or not, we do come in peace."

Yavs raspily says, "I only am here to stand with my Mayor. She speaks for us."

Speaking to Yavs, Leafiara says, "Oh, not at all... we all have our own voice."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "I've never been your biggest fan, but have found myself defending you lately more than I ever imagined."

Malluch grins at Iskandr.

Yavs raspily says, "That is true enough."

Speaking curiously to Malluch, Leafiara says, "What brings you out this eve? I assume you've seen Thadston's, ah--declaration."

Malluch says, "A Legionnaire and Leafiara, odd pair." [Iskandr being the Legionnaire]

Malluch grins at Leafiara.

Leafiara grins wryly at Malluch.

Iskandr nods.

Leafiara acknowledges, "True enough."

The one-eyed wolf barks loudly.

Leafiara flashes a quick grin.

Leafiara nods to the one-eyed wolf.

You also see an one-eyed wolf, a black truffle, a red canvas tent, a red canvas tent, a covered wagon, a grey-armored bloodguard and a grey-armored bloodguard.

Also here: Squire Legionnaire Iskandr, Journeyman Yavs, Lord Malluch

Kippe just moved quietly into the area, his group following closely.

Malluch says, "Yes. I saw his declaration."

Iskandr says, "I lived in the Landing before you were born as a child."

Malluch nods at Raelee.

Malluch nods at Kippe.

Malluch nods.

Malluch says, "Good."

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee says, "Burdos."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "Which is why my attachment is somewhat odd for one of the Legion."

Iskandr exclaims, "Nostalgia!"

Malluch says, "I have no intention of surrendering to Thadston."

Yavs raspily asks, "What do you intend, then?"

Leafiara concedes, "Yeah, we figured as much."

Malluch says, "I also have no desire to see any townspeople, or those here in my camp, harmed."

Malluch says, "Those who want to hear my message...their number is growing."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "What do you DO with those numbers?"

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "Eventually, they need space."

Malluch says, "I have been in town countless times. I had eaten at the tables of our citizens. I have told stories to their children. I have hunted boars with one of Dakris's workers."

Malluch says, "They won't tell you. They find a way to let me in. They fear conflict, but they yearn for truth."

Leafiara reasons, "It doesn't have to be this complicated. You're not that far from town, and much of the Landing would fight against Thadston if he went through with trying to arrest you outside the gates."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "That sounds great, but where does this all go when everyone has accepted the truth? It seems like at some point, your growing group needs space, homes, land, a town?"

Malluch says, "The Blood God is coming to soon to take any who would answer his call. My purpose is to get his message to as many who will hear it before that time of offering comes."

Leafiara asks, "Is there any chance we can coexist peacefully and have the townspeople come to you?"

Yavs raspily says, "I still think to the choice you purport to offer, and the ill it portends."

Malluch says, "We won't be here for long. The Blood God will call us home."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "Even if you pose no ill-will, which is possible perhaps... Even then, as your group grows, it needs land."

Leafiara slowly says, "That wasn't exactly an answer."

Malluch says, "But we need more time. I will not surrender, and I will defend against Thadston if it comes to it."

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee asks, "Define 'home' in this context?"

Malluch says, "To him."

Malluch nods at Raelee.

Malluch says, "Home is where the Blood God reigns."

Yavs raspily asks, "But what of those who don't accept what you consider his call?"

Thrassus suddenly fades into view.

Malluch says, "Seeds are planted. There is always a season for the harvest, and with each cycle, it passes and with each new year comes a new harvest and a new chance."

Leafiara slowly says, "Well. All that aside..."

Malluch says, "There will be more opportunities. But I wish for everyone who can to hear his message now. Let them follow me home to him, if not now, then in time."

Sanctuary

Malluch says, "I received a letter."

Yavs raspily asks, "A letter?"

Leafiara confesses, "I truly don't care what you do outside the gates, but Thadston is another matter."

Malluch says, "Kothos."

Speaking simply to Malluch, Kippe admits, "You do know how to spin a phrase..."

Malluch grins at Kippe.

Speaking to Malluch, Thrassus says, "I think Thadston is just looking for a reason to kill you."

Malluch says, "Of course he is."

Malluch says, "He's a broken man haunted by something."

Leafiara admits, "Well, it is his default solution to a lot of things."

Leafiara agrees, "And that, sure."

Malluch says, "Or perhaps just his poor choices."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "I agree with Thadston, but I worry about what happens when you die, what you do and what your people might do."

Malluch says, "I won't die. The Blood God won't permit it."

Iskandr says, "Yeah, that's what I mean."

Iskandr says, "I don't like where that goes potentially."

Malluch says, "But I'm worried for the people in the camps. We've grown, even if you don't see it."

Malluch says, "Kothos has offered a...location for those in the camps."

Yavs raspily asks, "I'm not the best with the gods, but I'm not familiar with this level of agency. What puts him above those we worship at the temple?"

Leafiara curiously asks, "So he won't let you die, but anyone else he will?"

Thrassus asks, "It is a good idea, yes?"

Malluch says, "It is a temporary idea, at best. I need time until the Blood God comes."

Leafiara says, "If it's his usual offering of the Ivasian temple in the Vipershroud, then whether you send people there or not is none of my business."

Speaking to Yavs, Raelee says, "That is a very philosophical question."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Seems like a harsh god to keep this one alive and let all his other suffer, though perhaps par for most gods."

Leafiara reiterates, "Like I said, what you do outside of the gates isn't my concern."

Malluch says, "It should be your concern."

Leafiara says, "I have enough to consider inside the gates alone."

You grin wryly at Malluch.

Malluch says, "I mean no disrespect, but even if your jurisidication ends at the walls, your concerns should not."

Lord Kothos just arrived.

Leafiara frankly says, "Malluch, I don't even know who your people are. It's not as if we meet often."

Thrassus says, "Especially when the loose cannons tend to agitate those outside them often."

Malluch says, "Threats inside walls can often be prevented when dealt with before they reach within." [I.. can't actually parse what this is supposed to mean, to be honest.]

Yavs raspily says, "Or the blood that ran in the streets."

Malluch bows to Kothos.

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I thought I'd let you get the exposition out of the way and show up for the rest."

Malluch says, "Brother Blud."

Kothos places a hand over his heart.

Speaking to Yavs, Thrassus says, "Talk to the Rooks about that."

Kothos bows to Malluch.

Malluch says, "I got your letter."

Speaking to Kothos, Iskandr says, "I really need to learn that trick."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos asks, "I'm pleased. And my offer?"

Speaking to Iskandr, Kothos says, "It's a gift called friends."

Malluch says, "I am considering your offer."

Malluch says, "Which is why I've come to discuss it tonight."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I told you most of my little detail in the missive."

Malluch says, "Within two weeks, the Blood God will come. I've work to do until then, ears to hear, hearts to open, minds to ignite."

Yavs raspily asks, "What then, comes next?"

Leafiara clarifies, "And... you're hoping to move the civilians to a safe location? Is that it?"

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "We currently house fourteen of the Children of Ivas in our ward. We have the space to take nearly all the sick and cursed."

Malluch says, "But Thadston has given me a week and I do not intend to surrender."

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "And the grounds and the dry areas around the marshes could do for the rest of the tents."

Malluch says, "While I have my thoughts on the Arkati...."

Malluch glances at Kothos.

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "Well, so far so good. Nothing seems to be stopping you."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "As I said, I don't care."

Malluch says, "It is through enlightenment that those who follow them will come to know the truth."

Malluch says, "We make no promise of tomorrow by making enemies of today."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos asks, "I have more than enough faith to reach across the chasm. Do you?"

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "If Thadston can't kill you and in that idea, I suppose can't take you, why are you afraid of him taking you?"

Kothos asks, "After all...your people, and even you, might well evangelize to us, in the Order, yes?"

==

Malluch says, "We wish to safely move those among the tents, and any who wish to follow us from town."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "He's worried about the civilians, it seems."

Kothos says, "And we were attacked by the installed and official hierarchy of the Empire's state religion. We've seen our share of risk."

Malluch says, "I am hoping you can assist in that regard Mayor."

Speaking slowly to Malluch, Kippe asks, "So there's the problem of your timeline differing from Thadston's by a week?"

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "I'm not sure I understand what kind of assistance you're asking for."

Malluch says, "Perhaps the town guard, perhaps honorable agents like the Gryphons, or perhaps even reaching out to Lord Breshon and the Bourthians at the Outpost...."

Malluch glances at Raelee.

Raelee raises an eyebrow.

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "He has a lot of weaknesses for someone so powered by a god more powerful than the gods we worship."

Speaking to Malluch, Thrassus asks, "Stand guard?"

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "We do have magic. Surely with a little ingenuity, we can move a handful of people and tents."

Malluch says, "Protective escort to the Temple of Ivas, and perhaps some temporary guards."

Iskandr says, "I don't even understand why these people bother. I've seen better healing in Town Square."

Thrassus says, "It might go far towards keeing order in the area."

Iskandr points at Yavs.

Yavs raspily asks, "Wouldn't that be outside the bounds of the town's authority?"

Malluch says, "The Brotherhood of Rooks slaughered a caravan of those coming to seek my truth. Thadston threatens to come marching into the woods."

Leafiara says, "I won't ask this of the town guard, and I rather doubt Breshon would hear you out here."

Malluch says, "I cannot risk anymore lives."

Iskandr says, "That guy has shown me more healing magic."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I would say to trust to the vipers and the panthers, but I don't think they'd give Thadston much pause."

Leafiara says, "However, the Gryphons... them I can ask."

Kothos says, "Or whatever it is he is now."

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Kothos says, "Guarrin would help."

Leafiara says, "As would Sir Cryheart, I'm sure."

Kothos says, "I know him well enough to say, and I spoke with him regarding it this evening."

Kothos says, "Lazaryth is not a Gryphon, nor an official member of my Order, but he would assist."

Leafiara says, "Very well, I'll do what I can to get word to the Gryphons."

Inquiries

Malluch says, "It is not just healing of bodies our message brings. Come now, many exist who can do that. Yes, the Blood God wields power many could not fathom...."

Leafiara says, "I assume many of our local adventurers would be willing to aid with an escort too."

Kothos says, "Alvyara, his sister, is the reason I'm here. I am sure she would commit to help, too."

Malluch says, "...but healing is more than the body."

Malluch says, "Restoration is returning to one's true purpose and design."

Leafiara says, "Vague as ever."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "I'm excited to see this power that to date has not existed AT ALL."

Thrassus says, "It makes sense to me."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Wisps of light through the darkness. Leading you into a swamp."

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee asks, "I cannot make promises for Lord Breshon and his men... but I can attempt... perhaps I could ask something of you, however?"

Malluch says, "Faith is trusting."

Malluch nods at Raelee.

Umbazi says, "A Gryphon is here. I will relay this night's conversation to my brethren."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "It's almost a perfect, poetic bad idea. But still..."

Malluch bows to Umbazi.

Speaking appreciatively to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Ah, excellent then."

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee asks, "Perhaps you might in exchange for this aid... take some time to speak to the curious?"

Malluch peers quizzically at Raelee.

Umbazi says, "I would have relayed it anyway."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Lana would be proud of you. Young Burdos."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Nonetheless, that's not a reason to give thanks."

Malluch grins at Kothos.

Malluch smiles.

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee says, "I know the 'Blood God' - I do not know you. I would know more of the particulars of your healing... what progress you have made and how."

Malluch says, "I call upon the Blood God. What he wills to happen, will happen."

Malluch says, "I am a vessel. I serve."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I admit to being curious, myself. Alvyara said that she felt like part of her vitality, her very essence was gone."

Speaking to Raelee, Iskandr says, "Wrinkles, like every half-baked cart merchant, he cures wrinkles."

Yavs raspily asks, "What makes healing in the square any less grand?"

Malluch says, "You are stuck at the healing of just skin and wounds and illness."

Leafiara acknowledges, "Well, there's a bit of dissent among those you healed, over what they... experienced in the process."

Speaking to Iskandr, Kothos says, "I am not a healer like Alvyara. Well, I can restore life to the dead, I suppose. But I have never seen anything like what happened to her, and the others."

Malluch says, "There is more to the truth than that."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos asks, "What does it do, to you?"

Speaking to Iskandr, Thrassus says, "There wasn't a single empath that could do what he did for those affected by Vlashandra's life draining."

Leafiara says, "Alisette and Balley were, ah--considerably less impressed than Alvyara."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "A lot of half-baked town to town cart vendors promise that kind of nonsense too."

Kippe simply counters, "There are some wounds that require healing of a different type than those in town center are capable of."

Malluch says, "Yet here you stand, at my camp, and not their carts."

Malluch nods.

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Restoring life drains me, limits what else I can do for a time. Healing transfers the wound at least temporarily to the healer."

Malluch says, "It fulfills me."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos asks, "What does yours transfer to you?"

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr says, "Show me why I should bother believing."

Malluch says, "That is the opposite of faith."

Malluch nods.'

Speaking to Malluch, Raelee asks, "... given this confusion, perhaps you can see some merit in further education?"

Kothos says, "I am not sure that is true. Faith is what comes after revelation."

Leafiara relents, "Well... fair enough on that point, I suppose."

Malluch says, "There will be time for further education. That has already existed."

Malluch says, "As I said earlier, I've been in town dozens of times. I've met with merchants, with fathers, with mothers, I've eaten at their tables, been warmed by their fires."

Malluch says, "I've told my stories. I've shared my truth."

Malluch says, "The movement grows around you."

Leafiara says, "That I don't doubt."

Iskandr says, "I vacilate between worrying that you've tapping into something dangerous that Thadston will disrupt and then thinking he should just toss you back in jail."

Malluch says, "But of course, many are afraid still. Afraid of Thadston. Afraid of their neighbors, and what they will say..."

Iskandr says, "Anyway, not my town."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "You should consider Faerinn's proposition, concerning the Marshal."

Malluch says, "Beyond the Arkati? They are worried."

Shadows of the Past

Umbazi says, "We don't trust Stone. He's made a habit of attacking this town in the past."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Well, so has Malluch, but... there were extenuating circumstances."

Leafiara says, "Which reminds me."

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "...truly, I'm sorry it's somehow come to this."

Speaking to Umbazi, Kothos says, "It is not that I trust Stone. Or even this man. But he did restore someone I care for, and has the charge of these injured and sick, here."

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "Truth be told, you should have been pardoned after we learned about the Alchemist..."

You hear an unpleasant wet crunching sound from the shadows.

Umbazi says, "I'm not denying that he has healed."

Leafiara says, "It's a bit late now, I realize."

Leafiara mutters something inaudible.

Malluch asks, "Is it?"

Kothos quietly says, "Also, I would fit the definition of cultist for nearly anyone in the main of society."

Malluch says, "I am a citizen still."

Yavs raspily asks, "What are you suggesting?"

Malluch says, "Pardoning me would neutralize Thadston and we could still proceed with moving to the Vipershroud to help mitigate any escalation."

Leafiara says, "A pardon for the Rone incidents I could extend, but the jailbreak I couldn't."

Speaking to Leafiara, Thrassus asks, "Why not?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Kippe asks, "If it's a valid pardon, why is it too late?"

Leafiara says, "Besides that... I don't think a pardon would stay his hand."

Malluch says, "Truthfully, past mayors have pardoned Drangell and Stephos."

Speaking wryly to Malluch, Leafiara says, "Yeah, tell me about it."

Malluch says, "I would hope I rank lower than them in threats and vileness."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara mutters, "Still wish you'd listened to me about assassinating Stephos."

Leafiara suddenly says, "Anyway."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Stephos had his house burned down, and Drangell...well, let's indeed hope you do better with your fate."

Speaking wryly to Leafiara, Cruxophim inquires, "What did Stephos do ~now?"

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "I'll give it consideration, but in the meantime, here's something I can do."

Leafiara says, "Give the pardon consideration, that is."

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "More things than that went wrong, that I disagreed with at the time."

Speaking pointedly to Malluch, Cruxophim says, "I seem to recall you being imprisoned for sedition."

Yavs raspily says, "That at least feels like a productive, active conversation."

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "I know you don't quite have the same relationship with Jastev you once did,but..."

Leafiara offers Malluch a silver crystal ball pin.

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "This rightfully belongs to you."

Malluch accepts Leafiara's silver crystal ball pin.

Malluch says, "...thank you."

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "You are still using his Sight."

Leafiara says, "Think of it as Lana's memento if nothing else."

Leafiara nods at Malluch.

Speaking to Yavs, Iskandr says, "Oh, don't worry, there are about ten different sides that will throw a wrench into any agreed plans."

Speaking to Kothos, Shiril purrs, "Indeed, it is a pleasure, isn't it?"

Malluch says, "I appreciate that Mayor."

Speaking seriously to Malluch, Leafiara says, "...and I will think about that pardon."

Leafiara smiles at Malluch.

Malluch indicates his crystal ball pin with a smile.

Malluch put a silver crystal ball pin in his grey robe.

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Speaking teasingly to Shiril, Kothos says, "I was most disappointed to hear I'd just missed you at the ball earlier."

Speaking evenly to Malluch, Cruxophim warns, "Hear Thadston is on the warpath for you. I'm a bit fashionably late to the party, but I presume you're aware?"

Shiril whispers something to Kothos.

Leafiara says, "I... truly had no problem with your time as Rone."

Malluch says, "It would alleviate many of our roadblocks."

Kippe whispers something to Raelee.

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Cruxophim glances skeptically at Leafiara.

Malluch nods at Cruxophim.

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Well, I didn't."

Speaking teasingly to Leafiara, Cruxophim muses, "No problem at all?"

Speaking wryly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Nope."

Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement.

Speaking amicably to Leafiara, Cruxophim relents, "Fair."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Like you and Goblyn don't kill each other for fun ten times a night."

Yavs raspily says, "It it means a lessening to any potention bloodshed, it's worth considering."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "You certainly have learned some strategies from your superior."

Malluch says, "I will offer you some reassurance."

Speaking obsequiously to Leafiara, Cruxophim teases, "It was more smearing my good name."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I believe they call this one 'Sadistic Choice.'"

Malluch grins at Kothos.

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "True, that whole staged torture room was... pretty dumb."

Speaking wryly to Malluch, Leafiara says, "No offense."

Malluch says, "If you consider, and do in fact pardon me for all crimes, I assure you we will be gone within two weeks."

Leafiara loos thoughtfully at Malluch.

Speaking mildly to Leafiara, Cruxophim reminds, "Forgive and forget, that's what I always say."

Thrassus says, "That's a fair deal."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Yeah, I tend to agree."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "Gone where?"

Speaking to Malluch, Shiril says, "That seems rather boring."

Malluch says, "And I will take no action to escalate violence short of defending myself if needed. Hopefully protective detail from the Gryphons, or town guards, or others who have offered to aid would ensure that isn't needed."

Yavs raspily says, "As long as it's in peace, I'm not sure it matters."

Malluch says, "Gone home, to the Blood God."

Malluch nods at Iskandr.

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "He has agreed to move the sick and afflicted from the tents here to the Vipershroud and Her Temple."

Speaking pointedly to Malluch, Cruxophim observes, "And you seem like you've learned your lesson."

Speaking to Yavs, Iskandr says, "Speak for yourself, there are places he could go with his people that would be problematic for me."

Leafiara muses, "If I extend the pardon, I might be the one Thadston kills instead, but--"

Leafiara asks, "Well, when have I ever worried about consequences?"

Umbazi asks, "You'll be gone in two weeks, because that's when Stone is showing up, correct?"

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "Ascending to the Blood God?"

Thrassus says, "Then have himn arrested afterwards."

Iskandr asks, "Is that what happens in two weeks?"

Malluch says, "Ascending? No."

Speaking lightly to Leafiara, Cruxophim ventures, "Oh, are you considering pardoning him officially?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara admits, "I'm very much considering it."

Malluch says, "He comes to call us home. To be with him."

Speaking to Malluch, Iskandr asks, "So again, home is....?"

Umbazi asks, "As he does not reign anywhere, where is home?"

Malluch says, "The Deadfall."

Speaking diplomatically to Leafiara, Cruxophim advises, "It will be tough, but win Stormy and the others over and you might have a chance with Thadston."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Ah."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "I'm not sure winning over Stormyrain is that difficult in this case, other than that we're... not usually on the best of terms."

Leafiara confidently says, "And I'm far more sure that winning over Shinann here is no problem."

Timetable

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Very well. You tell me what you need."

Leafiara says, "Thadston, though..."

Malluch grins at Cruxophim.

Malluch nods at Kothos.

Malluch says, "Regardless of the Mayor's pardon or not...."

Malluch nods at Kothos.

Yavs raspily says, "I admit I was more certain until the blood ran that other week. That gave me pause."

Malluch says, "We will move to the Vipershroud IF...."

Umbazi asks, "If?"

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "Her Temple will be ready for your afflicted."

Leafiara says, "The Gryphons' aid with escort, at least, seems almost assured."

Malluch says, "A measure of protection can be assured, via transport, and temporarily while we reside there."

Speaking offhandedly to Malluch, Shiril says, "The Vipershroud is rather lovely."

Malluch says, "The Eve of Volnes."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I would certainly hope so. Jade statues are very costly to acquire and we're on our second one."

Malluch asks, "That should be enough time to secure an escort and protection plan?"

Malluch peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Leafiara rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Malluch asks, "And to consider a pardon?"

Leafiara says, "The Gryphons will be on the escort plan, so I don't want to speak for them."

Malluch says, "Thadston's letter warned of a week or less. I give pause to wonder what his 'or less' means."

Speaking politely to Kothos, Cruxophim apologizes, "Hope you aren't mad about all that."

Leafiara says, "Volnes... that is really soon."

Leafiara clenches her jaw.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "From the smoke, and the fire, from the high priest of the official religion of the human Empire? Psh."

Speaking to Malluch, Leafiara says, "...I'll make a decision on the pardon by then."

Leafiara nods.

Leafiara says, "One way or another."

Thrassus says, "Honestly, Thadston will likely make his move as soon as he gets wind of a pardon or the movement of the camp."

Umbazi says, "Leafiara, I have said that I will convey the conversation to the Gryphons. I would urge you not to volunteer us, or to make assumptions. I don't know what will be decided."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "Not like I've been complaining about it for four years."

Speaking evasively to Kothos, Cruxophim muses, "Yes.... that."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Well, fair enough, but I did hear several of you speaking up in defense of the camp out here just last night."

Malluch asks, "The Gryphons meet tomorrow, do they not?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "Besides, Barrister Faerinn certainly has more cause to vent his woes, from that whole matter."

Malluch asks, "Eve of Tilamaires then, would that afford more time?"

Kothos says, "I can send out word to those I mentioned, at the least. Our charming sylvan siblings can do some rallying, I'd think."

Iskandr says, "Why do we have to defend people that are just being picked up by their God to head off to some other plane of existence? Thadston can just send you early."

Malluch peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Speaking lightly to Kothos, Cruxophim responds, "Secular matters."

Leafiara nods at Malluch.

Malluch says, "We will need to determine both the escort and protection plan and the pardon, at the same time."

Speaking earnestly to Malluch, Leafiara says, "That would be appreciated."

Malluch says, "Because Thrassus is right."

Iskandr says, "Anyway, yes, yes, not my decision."

Malluch says, "Thadston may act or react. So all pieces need to fall at once."

Speaking to Thrassus, Kothos says, "You often are."

Malluch nods at Leafiara.

Leafiara says, "The... captains and marshal aren't always the easiest to track down."

Malluch says, "Very well. Tilmaires it is."

Leafiara nods at Malluch.

Thrassus says, "I try to be at least."

Iskandr says, "You need so much corporeal action to get to your noncorporeal existence."

Kothos says, "Tilamaires. You would pick the day of Her rival..."

Speaking mischievously to Leafiara, Cruxophim teases, "They aren't nocturnal, like us."

Speaking to Malluch, Kothos says, "I wish us all grace and we'll manage this mischief."

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara agrees, "Not even wrong."

Malluch nods.

Malluch bows.

Speaking laughingly to Leafiara, Cruxophim corrects, "Well, some of us."

Malluch says, "Until then."

Malluch moves off into the night, disappearing beyond the fiery haze of some campfires.

Discussion Afterward

Iskandr says, "Get him a barrister, the Blood Son needs a good lawyer to help him survive until the Blood God comes."

Speaking quietly to Shiril, Kothos says, "I am afraid I must return home now. To the swamp."

Yavs raspily says, "I... am conflicted."

Leafiara admits, "Sure didn't see that one coming."

Speaking thoughtfully to Yavs, Cruxophim ventures, "Oh?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "You get in line."

Leafiara says, "Finally a move on Malluch's part that *doesn't* remind me of his vigilante days."

Speaking to Kothos, Shiril says, "I very much doubt you're afraid of that. But you'll be a jewel in the midst of the mire..."

Thrassus says, "I think it hammers home the point that Malluch desires no strife in all this."

Speaking flirtatiously to Kothos, Cruxophim suggests, "Why wait?"

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "No, no. It's leaving you behind that fills me with disquiet."

Speaking raspily to Cruxophim, Yavs says, "I don't give a rip about Malluch, but I feel an obligation via my oaths to aid people who might flock to him."

Speaking neutrally to Yavs, Cruxophim admits, "Fair."

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "You like snakes, surely."

Speaking warmly to Kothos, Shiril asks, "You are full of sweet, honeyed words, aren't you?"

Leafiara musingly says, "They're all going to kill me. Thadston, the Rooks... all of them."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "It still doesn't make any sense of why he needs so much basic bureaucracy to save him for the coming of the Blood God."

Leafiara says, "But..."

Leafiara says, "I've never worried about it and I'm not about to start."

Yavs raspily says, "But I'm also pondering just letting everyone loose and let the dice do the talking."

Shiril whispers something to Kothos.

Iskandr says, "He doesn't seem to wield any true power and needs constant help."

Umbazi says, "Leafiara, you have never worried about anything."

Iskandr says, "It's all just odd."

Speaking to Iskandr, Shiril says, "Things often are here."

Speaking amusedly to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Oh, that's not true at all. I just don't let any of you see it."

Umbazi says, "I don't believe you."

Speaking amusedly to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Well, that's your right."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara adds, "But the fact that I'm even considering a pardon here should show you I've thought about this for years."

Speaking slowly to Cruxophim, Kippe says, "We don't eat the bloodguards."

Iskandr says, "He needs you to keep him alive long enough to he and his people can fly off the Deadfall or whatever."

Umbazi says, "No, not really. I think you would pardon anyone who was, is, or might be a Rook."

Shiril whispers something to Cruxophim.

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara asks, "Yes, and?"

Speaking drolly to Kippe, Cruxophim grumbles, "Yes, papa."

Iskandr says, "Just seems so....off..."

Yavs raspily says, "I imagine more than a few people will have thoughts on tonight's happenings."

Speaking curiously to Umbazi, Leafiara asks, "Then why haven't I done it already?"

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "You should bring him along, too."

Umbazi says, "I don't suppose you saw a need."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Seriously. I could have done that four months ago and I haven't."

Yavs raspily says, "I would like to speak with my fellow healers. I am curious to hear their thoughts."

Speaking smoothly to Kothos, Shiril says, "Naturally."

Speaking seriously to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Okay, maybe it is time I let you in, then."

Umbazi says, "As I said, I don't think you saw a need to bother."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr asks, "And to be honest, if he's meeting with your people in your town secretly converting them, is he going to pull them all away?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "I was just inviting you to the swamp, as well."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara asks, "Why do you think I'm considering this pardon of Malluch?"

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Any travelerr is allowed to do that. It's not a problem in and of itself."

Speaking evenly to Kothos, Cruxophim counters, "Is that a euphemish?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "Literal as well, since I live there."

Umbazi says, "Because you don't trust Thadston not to kill him, in or out of jail. And this gives Thadston one less hook to grab Malluch with."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "I don't have any etchings for you to see, but I'm sure you can follow my meaning."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Well, hopefully it's all people who weren't going to vote for you in a future election."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "You can have a better look at Rusalka, here."

Speaking approvingly to Kothos, Cruxophim remarks, "A veritable nest of vipers."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Nope, I hadn't considered any of that."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "I think you think I think in pragmatic terms."

Leafiara adds, "If that makes sense."

Cruxophim rubs an unctuous shadow-scaled death adder in his hand.

Iskandr says, "Oh, you snakey people."

Umbazi says, "No, I think in pragmatic terms. I have no idea how you think."

Speaking huskily to Shiril, Cruxophim purrs, "I like pets."

Kothos says, "He's right, though, they are Her guardians."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "The only thing I'm considering is that the extenuating circumstances of the Alchemist meaning his past trial was illegitimate in light of further information."

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Shiril says, "I know."

Umbazi asks, "WHAT extenuating circumstance?"

Leafiara says, "So by that measure, the right thing to do would be extend a pardon."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "The Alchemist drugging and brainwashing him."

Umbazi says, "Quite honestly, this is the first time I have heard of the Alchemist."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "You might know him by the name Praxopius instead."

Umbazi says, "Oh, him."

Umbazi says, "No, I heard nothing about brainwashing from him, either."

Leafiara says, "Now, conversely, the reason I'm considering *not* pardoning him... is that I really don't like wielding political power as a weapon."

Speaking to Umbazi, Shiril quips, ".... yet."

Leafiara adds, "And yes, yes, I know... weird from someone who ran for mayor, I realize."

Umbazi says, "I was under the position that you just didn't like wielding political power."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kippe agrees, "It's a dangerous path to tread."

Thrassus says, "That's the entire reason for it existing."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "I hate the man, but if you believe he was wrongly accused, it's probably right to rectify the matter."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara adds, "Yeah, that too."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Yeah... I do believe that. And I don't even hate him, either."

Leafiara mutters, "Ah, what a thing."

Speaking to Leafiara, Shiril says, "Indeed."

Leafiara says, "Well... I have all of two days to find the captains, so it's not too much a problem, I suppose."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Again, I'm thinking with your town's brain. In my town, he was dead at returning to the gates."

Speaking wryly to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Well, as Malluch implied, I don't have the best relationship with Ta'Vaalor."

Iskandr exclaims, "We're not always fair in Ta'Vaalor, but we are pretty safe!"

Speaking absently to Iskandr, Cruxophim ventures, "What is your town?"

Speaking sarcastically to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Oh, ya don't say."

Speaking amusedly to Iskandr, Cruxophim notes, "Ahhh."

Speaking nonchalantly to Iskandr, Cruxophim opines, "Not too late for that approach."

Yavs raspily says, "I need to consider what I've seen tonight."

Kothos says, "So say we all."

Speaking agreeably to Yavs, Leafiara says, "I'm sure everyone here does. It's a lot to consider."

Yavs raspily says, "I'm going to talk with my fellow healers and, when we discuss this further, I hope to have more."

Yavs raspily says, "As long as peace can win out, I guess."

Yavs raspily says, "Take care, friends. This will assuredly be continued."

Speaking to Yavs, Shiril asks, "You guess?"

Umbazi says, "I'll go discuss things with the Gryphons. We weren't going to have a meeting today, but I guess that has changed."

Speaking to Umbazi, Leafiara says, "Well, you have until Tilamaires, it seems."

Lord Umbazi just went northwest.

Speaking to Shiril, Iskandr says, "Ta'Vaalor is certainly less vibrant and somewhat stuck in stasis, but we are safe."

Leafiara says, "And there he goes."

Kothos says, "I could probably track down Guarrin tomorrow, just to be safe."

Speaking bluntly to Kippe, Shiril notes, "You do an awful lot of glancing at her."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara concedes, "Well, I have heard they've done away with the papers, so at least there's that."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "It's good if people change."

Cruxophim whispers something to Shiril.

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "But a King's decree doesn't shift those who hate."

Shiril whispers something to Kothos.

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Right. Which is more or less what I've been saying about the pardon possibility tonight."

Speaking simply to Shiril, Kippe counters, "You do a lot of watching who I glance at."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "If Helgreth suddenly has to let in those unliked by her, she may just start attending odd meeting at night with like-minded hateful folk."

Speaking to Kippe, Shiril says, "Not my fault it's so obvious."

Speaking to Kippe, Kothos says, "Curiosity is sometimes inconvenient for those it attracts, but still, not a sin."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "And then well, who knows what happens. Perhaps Ta'Vaalor falls from within."

Speaking smugly to Kippe, Cruxophim whispers aloud, "Maybe she's jealous."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "If it does, then it was a necessity to regrow stronger."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "I hope for the best, but most of my kind are not as open as I am."

Speaking casually to Iskandr, Cruxophim remarks, "All empires eventually collapse under their own weight."

Speaking dryly to Cruxophim, Shiril says, "Funny."

Kothos says, "We're all very articulate in glances tonight."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Iskandr says, "I stay with it to try and guide it the way I feel is right, but there are PLENTY who disagree with me and also plenty who hate the current changes."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos asks, "Did you get Rusalka on your canvas, I hope?"

Speaking to Kothos, Shiril says, "They do hold so many layers of meaning, depending on the glance and the persons involved."

Iskandr says, "Time will tell."

Cruxophim raises his half-elven male portrait proudly, displaying it for you to see.

Sprawled out across a chaise is the reclined image of a half-elven male, his seaglass green eyes turned outward in a sultry gaze. Painted across the canvas backdrop are rows of stark white candles with brilliant yellow-orange flames, the light reflected perfectly in the model's eyes.

Cruxophim offers Kothos a sultry half-elven male portrait.

Kippe whispers something to Shiril.

Speaking amicably to Kothos, Cruxophim suggests, "Next time, perhaps."

Iskandr says, "I hope it all doesn't fall apart until at least after the next Festival of the Fallen."

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "Yes, I know. I've been looking you all night. And I have a diversity of ideas."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "I'm a vain enough man to eagerly accept, and to get more. Thank you."

Thrassus says, "One thing to keep in mind, whoever hired those brigands might also strike during the move of the camp."

Iskandr says, "Well, Mayor, again, not my place, and I don't agree with everything on that man, but go with your heart."

Leafiara says, "Well... I'd better be off. I doubt I can find the captains or Thadston at this hour, but I can at least write in advance of tomorrow."

Speaking to Kothos, Shiril says, "A diversity of ideas... I like that turn of phrase."

Iskandr says, "It's not like I appreciate Thadston any better."

Speaking to Thrassus, Leafiara says, "Sounds probable."s

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "You're talented. And you made me pretty enough to merit that theory."

Thrassus says, "It would be an opportune time for it, yes."

Speaking to Kothos, Shiril says, "You are quite pretty, though..."

Speaking quietly to Shiril, Kothos says, "Now, darling, I must away. But you're welcome to look as long as I keep walking."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "I have a fond spot in my own heart for this town and hope you don't screw it all up."

Cruxophim nonchalantly jests, "Once the children go to bed, I'll start painting the orgies."

Speaking to Shiril, Kothos says, "You know where to find me, if you want more phrasing."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Mayor or no, I'm ultimately one person."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "We'll prevail."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "You, too."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "I'll do my best to help within the bounds of the realm I serve."

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "On the plus side, they don't really care all that much about West of the mountains, so that offers me some leeway."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "It takes all of us, whether citizens or 'just' allies. Everyone's needed and we appreciate it."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "Be still my snake."

Leafara wishes, "Rest well, all, whether you're going to sleep or only just now getting up."

Iskandr says, "I will continue to not kill the people that you don't want dead despite not always loving them."

Speaking wryly to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Sometimes it's hard."
