Was pondering adding "nacreous flares" (the material flares for white alloy) to the list of rare flares, but wasn't sure if we had an official name for this. When it flares, non-corporeal undead are treated as corporeal. It has a flare rate of 25%. Would it make sense to add that to this flare list and then update white alloy? Any feedback would be appreciated. - DUNGEONCRAWLERS (talk) 19:58, 16 March 2024 (CDT)

The page for [white alloy] lists them as "Non-Corporeal Undead Bane" flares, so I'd think it'd be best to add "Bane" as it's own category of flares (like "script" and "blessing") with the various types of bane listed in that category. Honestly, the way flares are categorized here needs an overhaul... aside from being archaic, it's not very helpful and confusing it you're not already familiar with item properties. I'd like to see "Common", "Uncommon", and "Rare" condensed into a new "Standard" category, a new one for "Material Properties" (for flares like Ghezyte and Xazkruvrixis), and a new one for spells or player services (Sonic weapons, Ensorcellment, Elemental Blade, etc) that add flares to gear. I'd be happy to put in the work to make that happen if there's support for it. OM1E5GA (talk) 10:27, 17 March 2024 (CDT)

The Non-Corporeal Undead Bane is an additional material property not the material flares. The Bane property provides +8 CER damage weighting against non-corporeal undead as a constant effect. White alloy **also** has a material flare that causes non-corporeal undead to be treated as corporeal. I called it "nacreous flare" because of the flares appearance (see below):

You swing a glowing white sacred warsword at a ghostly gigas shield-maiden!
A nacreous aura flares up around your sacred warsword!
  AS: +762 vs DS: +516 with AvD: +34 + d100 roll: +32 = +312
... and hit for 56 points of damage!
Slash to the gigas shield-maiden's left hand!
   Several fingers fly!

The flare isn't mentioned on the White Alloy page except as "Finally, it has the unique ability that all attacks against non-corporeal undead have a 25% chance to treat the undead as corporeal." DUNGEONCRAWLERS (talk) 12:50, 17 March 2024 (CDT)

@ OM1E5GA -- I am going to post this question to the Wiki channel on the official discord to get some feedback on restructuring the flare page. I don't have any particular issue with your proposed changes, and think it would be helpful, but since this page affects most of the player base, I know I'd feel better with a GM thumbs up before making a significant overhaul to the page. I'm only going to touch on something that was mentioned specifically referring to "common", "uncommon", and "rare" flares, as some things mentioned beyond that are not within my purview. The terms mentioned are and should remain the same if only for the single purpose of clarification when taking into consideration how they are approached in game. Players are able to purchase flares with premium points and they are broken up into tiers: common and uncommon. This can be seen in game with PREMIUM 6 FLARE. Additionally, when considering how they are added at different events, they are broken up into common, uncommon, and rare. It may additionally be helpful for those involved in this discussion to review this page: Item properties. GS4-XERAPHINA (talk) 14:58, 18 March 2024 (CDT)
I understand your reasoning for wanting to keep that section and agree with it given your arguments. However, there are a couple flare types that have been added to the Common/uncommon/rare section that don't seem to belong there given that reasoning (sonic, death, and ghezyte are the ones that stand out at a glance). I'd still like to add the categories I mentioned above and edit some of the text to reflect some of what you said here. It may not need the overhaul I initially thought, but it could still use some TLC. OM1E5GA (talk) 22:36, 22 March 2024 (CDT)
