Dividing the Docs
Yo, yo. I'm almost done shifting over the documents that pertain to history and race (more than 75% if not higher), but I do plan to start pulling over the documents that have to do more with the mechanics and technical stuffs of the game. Along those lines, I think it could be beneficial if we could keep these two groups of documents separated. Two thoughts: A) Create a similar banner template, but one that sorts them into a skills/mechanics category, or B) create two sub categories. Thoughts? GS4-SCRIBES (talk) 16:42, 18 June 2015 (CDT)
- First question: are the contents of these pages going to be updated? See Talk:Hybrid_profession for a discussion and example of a page that is lacking. I'm not versed at all in old Rolemaster books or D&D, but I'm sure there are many players like Iniquity who are and I can say I'm enjoying my ignorance in that matter. Many of the lore mechanics have also been posted by Estild on the Officials that are not in the official spell description. I'm liking option A more. Maybe call it "Official Mechanics" or "Play.net Technical Pages?" I'm also not really sure of the scope. Is this page coming? It doesn't seem necessary at all at this point. Might take a few days for me to respond to anything. VANKRASN39 (talk) 23:24, 19 June 2015 (CDT)
- In the specific line I singled out in that case, what you have is something that is true in Rolemaster and may even be true "in theory" but has never actually been so mechanically in GemStone (i.e. Sorcerers would be allowed relatively inexpensive flexibility on spell lists, say choosing Major Elemental instead of Minor Spiritual, at the price of higher training point cost.) Something else to consider are the very old profession definitions, which is another case where sorcery has never matched the documentation. (e.g. Rolemaster sorcerers would have spells like Mana Disrupt, Limb Disrupt, Mind Jolt, Pain and Disease, but virtually nothing related to the demonic and necromancy, illusions, gate magic, or all of the various exotic forms of energy. There were around 10 to 15, last time I counted.) As far as I know, we also have no coherent explanation of what Arcane magic is, which in its original conception would have gone in the exact middle of the image in the magic guide where all three rings overlap. Given the nature of 1700, 1701, 1708, 1711, 1720, and 1750, that sounds like the right way to interpret it. INIQUITY (talk) 09:51, 20 June 2015 (CDT)
- Is locking down a section of a page instead of the whole page a possibility? VANKRASN39 (talk) 23:51, 19 June 2015 (CDT)
- I'm inclined toward Option A. INIQUITY (talk) 09:51, 20 June 2015 (CDT)
