Jaysehn (prime)/The Sentinel Fleet

The Sentinel Fleet is a private fleet owned by Jaysehn Ranshai and his wife Akenna Laeraun-Ranshai. The fleet was established in 5120 with the purchase of a single-mast sloop, Grey Hobgoblin from the port of Kraken's Fall. Within two years, the fleet would grow to include a total of five ships privately owned by the couple as well as affiliate ships of commissioned officers. The fleet's core purpose is to carry the mission of the Order of Voln to the seas by eradicating ghost ships. In the course of this duty, the fleet's mission has grown to encompass the destruction of all sea-borne threats to civilization and trade.

History
Purchased with the intent of using the vessel for speedy travel around the Tenebrous Cauldron, Grey Hobgoblin became the first of the ships of the fleet. As a single-masted vessel, a series of unexpected battles with ghost ships and krolvin slavers led Jaysehn to conclude that a larger, more secure vessel was necessary. Golden Dawn (brigantine) was purchased to fill the early roll of a warship, capable of taking on larger vessel without the significant risk posed to a small ship like a sloop.
The fleet proved successful and was soon recruiting others to help crew the Golden Dawn against the various threats of the Cauldron, creating the beginnings of the fleet's reputation for daring action. It's reputation for seamanship began on the 10th of Olaestra, when Grey Hobgoblin, crewed by Captain Jaysehn and his pack-sister Ishan Darcena Wolf-Valslayer won the first ever Iskandr Run, completing a three port race in record speed. This feat was repeated in Ivasten, when the pair were joined by Lady Akenna and the trio also won the second Iskandr Run, proving Grey Hobgoblin to be the 'Fastest Ship in the Cauldron' and the 'Ship that did the Iskandr Run in thirty minutes.'
Soon, it became clear to Captain Jaysehn that even the Golden Dawn was no longer sufficiently able to handle the number of volunteer crew seeking berth. Plans were made for the purchase of an even larger vessel, the carrack Silver Sun, funded by winnings in the Duskruin Arena. Silver Sun became the primary vessel of the Sentinel Fleet.
During Jastatos of 5121, the fortold doom of the Island of Caligos loomed large over the civilian population of tradesmen, villagers and merchants that inhabited the island. In response, as adventurers helped the Island's villagers create an impromptu dock to allow for ships to arrive, the Silver Sun, along with other private vessels set sail for Caligos. Silver Sun completed the long sail down the Turamzzyrian coastline, around the Southron Wastes and into the waters of storm-covered Caligos with the fleet’s typical speed. Immediately, they were able to start taking on fleeing merchants and residents to be sailed back to the safety of River's Rest. After several of the long voyages, a final departure from Caligos on the Silver Sun happened just as Charl's tidal wave smashed the island and sunk it. With a final long voyage home, the Silver Sun deposited the remainder of the Island's survivors in River's Rest, completing its role in the saga of Caligos.
The now Commodore Jaysehn laid plans to expand the fleet by one more vessel. With some aggressive fundraising and generosity by friends and comrades, the frigate Onyx Eclipse (formerly White Dragon) became the new flagship of the fleet in early 5122. With the purchase of the frigate came the establishment of the Sentinel Fleet Trading Company, whose purpose is to provide trade links, influence and funding to support the fleet's mission to the Order of Voln in the absence of any formal funding from a traditional monastery structure. The SFTC specializes in enhancive jewelry, tea (including its signature blend, Dragon of the West), Hinterwilds rarities and the fine custom footwear of Lady Akenna herself.
