Summary

Grand Magister Octaven contacts Mayor Cruxophim again to ask if he's made a decision. He is not willing to hand over Rodnay but otherwise has no objection to her apprehending Dennet and his projects. She closes communications and shortly afterward explosions rock the [[::Wehnimer's Landing|Landing]], destroying ballistas, pylons, and the defense towers of several [[::Co-operative_Houses_of_Elanthia|Houses]].

Log

Amidst the falling snow, a sleek white falcon soars in the sky overhead.

A sleek white falcon circles above Moot Hall.

A sleek white falcon swoops past the window of the Mayor's Office in Moot Hall.

[travel time]

[Moot Hall, Mayor's Office]

At the varnished modwir door, a red bear skin rug stretches across the polished hardwood floor. Twin velnalin hide chairs face the Mayor's pine desk, while behind it sits an incurvated bone armchair. A great stag's head and a dark-framed sketch are mounted above a cobblestone fireplace set into the western wall. Refreshments are offered atop an oak bar beside a tall arched window.

The sleek white falcon swoops in through the window, landing on the Mayor's desk, where it stretches and opens its talon to place a small opaque orb on the desk.

The small opaque orb begins to hum.

Images begin to swirl within the orb.

A pale mist begins to seep out from the depths of the orb, creating a shifting haze around the item and some of the desk. Appearing within the orb is the image of a slender woman, with silver-blue hair that ends sharply at her shoulders. Violet eyes stare out from a narrow face, and a deep blue robe covers what you can see of her shoulders.

The woman within the orb focuses her gaze in the direction of Cruxophim.

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "Greetings Cruxophim, Mayor of Wehnimer's Landing."

Speaking slowly to a small opaque orb, Cruxophim greets, "Greetings, Grand Magister Octaven."

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "Have you made a decision on the stance of your town?"

Speaking amusedly to a small opaque orb, Cruxophim clarifies, "Regarding what, pray tell?"

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "Will you stand against the Hall as we bring Dennet Kestrel and his family to justice, and collect all of his projects and other work, including any and all artifacts, and specimen."

Speaking calmly to a small opaque orb, Cruxophim states, "I thought we had discussed this already, but I will reiterate: the Hall's business is none of ours, of course. However, we do take exception to our citizens being acquired in such a fashion. If that is amenable, we've no objection to you doing your work."

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "Unfortunately, at this time, the boy Rodnay is included as one of Dennet Kestrel's specimens. Once our investigation and research is finished, his return can be arranged."

Speaking amusedly to a small opaque orb, Cruxophim states, "That is your assessment, not ours. Surely one child cannot be that important."

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "You have made your decision then, Mayor?"

Speaking pleasantly to a small opaque orb, Cruxophim assures, "Indeed."

From within the orb, a woman's voice says, "Thank you for your communication."

The small opaque orb breaks apart like flakes of ash and the sleek white falcon takes to the sky, disappearing into the night admist the curtain of falling snow.

Outside through the window, the snow suddenly stops falling and the dark sky becomes clear, dotted by the faint, distant twinkling of stars.

[lots of discussion follows, then...]

There is a faint pulse of energy in the air.

A huge explosion rocks the area and flames erupt along the Roof of Land Tower East.

[the group investigates, wandering amidst a darkened town, with amulet thoughts cut off in many areas]

[Land Tower East, Roof]

A small lean-to on the south side of the tower provides the on-duty guards with some shelter. You can see the roofs of town buildings to the south and southeast. To the east you can see two more guard towers, apparently sitting on either side of the river. To the northwest, you can see the road that leads to the main gate of Wehnimer's and, beyond it, to the shoreline. You also see a crackling black fire, a crackling black fire, a crackling black fire, a crackling black fire, a crackling black fire, a crackling black fire, a notched slitted window, a notched slitted window, a notched slitted window, a large ballista, a pile of white ora-tipped sharpened logs and a maoral cabinet.

Another explosion rocks the Rooftop of the Land Tower West as a pile of ballista logs erupt in flames!

[the group investigates and goes putting out fires and getting set on fire themselves; assume more of this continues throughout the next several messages]

A huge explosion and a roar of black flames erupts along West Ring Road and a lion-carved wooden tower is engulfed in flames!

A huge explosion blasts the Lower Dragonsclaw forest as an ivy-covered white monir tower is engulfed in flames! Militia shout nearby, "The Sovyn tower is destroyed, and they hit the Silvergate one too!"

Yet another explosion roars along the Coastal Cliffs as a mithril-bound silver wooden tower is reduced to ruins as it is wreathed in roaring black flames. A militiaman is seen running from the tower screaming, "Rone Academy tower is down!"

Another blast shakes the North Docks of town as a huge imperial wagon is blasted into a thousand pieces, along with the bluish-white pylon that was housed on it. Tiny shards fly in every direction as flames spread out.

An explosion blasts the Middle Docks of town as the last imperial wagon and bluish-white pylon are torn to pieces and crackling black fires spread out.
