Data
Relevant data about effectiveness of different training levels, credit to JackWhisper on Players' Corner:
Walking around as an elf rogue in scatter, I was maxed in hiding and ambushing *did a pure stealth test just before fixskills to test skill threshholds because I hadn't used it last year and because of how often I got found with lower training* All of these are against liches, mind you. Various other things found me too, but I predominantly hunted liches. At 1x, I got caught within 5 seconds roughly 75% of the time. At 1.5x, I got caught within 5 seconds roughly 70% of the time. At 2x, I got caught within 5 seconds roughly 50% of the time. At 2.5x, I got caught within 5 seconds roughly 35% of the time. At max ranks, 3x, I got caught within 5 seconds roughly 20% of the time. Adding in +26 Stalking and Hiding enhancives total *bonus, not ranks*, it did not seem to have much of an effect at all. But, the sample size for that was a bit smaller. So it may down it by a few percent, who knows. And +40 enhancives would probably have been better, but I didn't have them handy. Total sample size was roughly 800 critters in total. In the sample size, I counted only me with no wounds, nothing hindering me, and no additives that would aid or hinder me hiding. I also was not encumbered, as I had a weightless bag on him. His armor was a metal breastplate, not full plate. That also helps, in that I was not using really heavy full plate. I forget whether that hinders or aids, but MBP is very light, so I'm sure it's better. Elves hide very well. Giantmen much less so. These percentages are a simple pass/fail on whether I got found while they searched the area for me once, and no more. I discounted all encounters with a lich and 1 other critter, whether it was another lich or not, because I couldn't determine which lich was searching first. I hope this data helps. It isn't much, but it was a fun test right before the fixskill went out. Good luck!
