The Ferryman's Lantern
|
The Ferryman's Lantern is a heavily scripted lantern that was available from the Reunion Vault sold in the SimuCoin Store for Ebon Gate 2024. Its release was accompanied by a lore document, The Lantern of the Ferryman. The lantern creates ambient messaging when lit. It randomly cycles between messaging about its window panes, the current season, and during some Elanthian holidays it will have extra messaging. The lantern may be lit with a match or by casting Fire Spirit (111), Balefire (713), Minor Fire (906), or Major Fire (908) at it. It cannot be lit without panes installed. The lantern can have its various window panes removed. These panes can be found through the games available at Ebon Gate, or from a pane pile where a random pane can be purchased. The panes are not destroyed as part of placing them in the lantern and can be replaced at any time. There is a companion storage case for holding the panes. While in Naidem, the lantern can either steal the light or dispell the shadows, bringing comfort or fear to the Denizens of Naidem. The story of this lantern can be found by using NUDGE on it while it is on the ground. Be aware, this will incur roundtime. The lantern is designed to be used at the owner's feet (PLACE FEET) and will travel with them when they move. It does this by sprouting spindled legs and walking with a high-stepped gait. You may find that certain portals will block your ability to move through them when the lantern is at your feet. This is to be expected as sometimes magics clash. The lantern must be held to interact with, except for NUDGE where the lantern must be on the ground.
