Morvule sends undead to attack Wehnimer's Landing from the south, angered at the town after the sword is shattered. The invasion is met valiantly by the defenders, but fighting is intense. Ulstram stands watch at Lorminstra's Temple, engaging in light conversation. Some of the Dark Alliance supporters taunt him.

After the onslaught is over, Kendryth and Ulstram regroup by Lorminstra's temple, going over plans for the next expected attack. Ulstram is struck by a vision of a town burning and many innocents dying, but he does not recognize that it is the Landing. Kendryth takes advantage of the post-invasion lull to gather together local defenders to shore up key points outside of town while the peace lasts.

This log is from Alisaire's perspective. It has been heavily edited.

Ulstram at the Temple

[Wehnimer's, Erebor Square]
The dome of a large temple rises before you. The circular building is surrounded by marble porticos and teak columns. A promenade leads to two pillars, through which you can peer into the inner sanctum. You observe priests, acolytes, monks and worshippers engaged in various rituals of devotion. A locked almsbox is securely bolted to an iron pole alongside the pillars. You also see the Songowl disk, a glowing white stone and a wrought-iron gate.
Also here: Sandez, Great Lord Calean, Mylandria, Rhud, Jarien, Lorinnia, Zaeralon, Codac, Winowyll, Mordja, Ulstram, Lord Talantris, Songowl, Aiwendil, Balthon, Zacciwie, Kalivar, Sepher, Lord Ruach, Skorrian, Kylisie
Obvious paths: south, east, west.

You see Ulstram Chanerser the Elven Prophet.
He is of an undeterminable age, has long, straight white hair, pointed ears, and fair skin.
He has jagged scars marring his face where his eyes should be.
He is in good shape.
He is holding an ebonwood staff inlaid with slivers of ivory in his left hand.
He is wearing a slender white-gold circlet inlaid with a cabochon onyx, a fine silver chain bearing a gold-inlaid onyx key, a black velvet cloak trimmed with golden knotwork, some long flowing white velvet robes embroidered with golden spirals, a supple white leather pouch and a pair of white leather sandals.

Sepher says, "The Priest Kadesha has been shown to her death."
Sepher says, "Your Wardsman will follow."
Sepher says, "And finally you."

Ulstram says softly, "It's unwise to threaten a clergy of Lorminstra with death, we all seek it to strengthen the Great Cycle."

Balthon asks, "Was the splitting of the sword on one of these...visions of the future?"

Kalivar says, "The time is near for you all."
Kalivar says, "I am telling you the obvious."

Zacciwie says, "The obvious through an insane one's eyes"
Zacciwie grins.

Ulstram says softly, "Beyond obvious."

Sepher asks, "You are a prophet too Kalivar?"

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

Kalivar says, "I have raised no blade, nor made a threat."
Kalivar says, "Iam the Sheruvian Augur."
Kalivar spins around, sending his jackal skin cloak flowing out in a billowing arc behind him.

Ruach says, "Kalivar, save yourself and come to the truth."

Kalivar says, "I am the truth."

Sepher says, "He is with the truth."

Mylandria asks, "Truth?"
Mylandria exclaims, "What truth!"
Mylandria cackles!

Ulstram says softly, "Hmm, yes, you do have darkness within you... but not enough to call yourself a Sheruvian. They're among the darkest of Lornon."

Kalivar cackles deep in his throat, his voice rising in chilling laughter.
Kalivar says, "You fool."
Kalivar says, "You are no prohet."

Ulstram leans on his staff.

Sepher says, "He has no powers."

Ulstram inquires quietly, "Don't I?"

Kalivar says, "My sole existence is a direct order from my Lord Sheru."
Kalivar says, "I am his appointed Augur."
Kalivar says, "I do what I am told and spread the faith."

Ulstram says softly, "I bet the Dark Arkati wouldn't know you from a farmer who worships him all the same."

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

Kalivar says, "Think as you may, blind man."
Kalivar says, "But i gave you my warning."

Ulstram says softly, "I do, quite often."

Songowl turns to face Ulstram.
Songowl says, "I will assist in the recovery of the pieces before the armies. but do understand that it is for a different purpose. Dispite your assurances, I cannot shake the notion that the sword in itself is unbalancing"

Ulstram nods to Songowl.

Ulstram says softly, "But do know, I will do everything within my power to reassemble the Sword, and purify it once again."

Ulstram says softly, "The Sword was a gift to this town... and a protector. Once again it shall be."

Songowl nods.

You ask, "Will it.. turn out any differently than your first attempt..?"

Sepher exclaims, "You say it will be purified, and now you say you will do your best?!"
Sepher laughs!

Ulstram says softly, "I was not here for the first purification, another less trained than I was."

You say, "Mm.."

Talantris asks, "The sword must be returned, and not recovered by the armies of evil, before you could purify it, yet you stand here?"
Talantris says, "A failure."
Talantris nods to Ulstram.

Sepher says, "You should choose your words more carefully."
Sepher says, "You contradict yourself."

Ulstram says softly, "I choose my words as they come to me."

Ulstram shrugs.

Sepher says, "Which tell me everything I already know."
Sepher says, "You are false."
Sepher says, "You know nothing at all."

Balthon says, "How ironic...the followers of the light stand idly and talk rather than seeking the parts of the sword...yet they are certain of victory..."

Ulstram says softly, "There is no point in searching recklessly until we are certain where a piece is."

Ulstram says softly, "It leaves this town unguarded."

Zacciwie says, "The same can be said of the followers of Dark"

Rekarth looks thoughtfully at Ulstram.

Ulstram cocks his head at Rekarth.

Songowl says, "we must all adhere to our specific strengths.. some are fighters, some are seekers, some are planners, some are debaters"

Siwas says, "And some are good targets for four-armed mages."

Talantris says, "Ulstram ignores me, as if something I've said has struck close to home, and he wishes not to face the truth."

Ulstram says softly, "I don't ignore you, your others in darkness are just too loud I cannot hear you."

Zacciwie says, "He probably doesn't want to bother himself with your lies"

Ruach asks, "Why should he argue with an abyss?"

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

Ulstram frowns.

Ulstram says softly, "My Ward is surrounded."

Songowl nods to Ulstram.
Songowl says, "by luukosians and dead supporters."

Siwas says, "The dissipators have come."

Rekarth says, "Unpleasant creatures."

Ulstram paces back and forth.

Siwas says, "Your Ward could likely be saved, at the cost of leaving all those dead behind, you know."
Siwas glances at Ulstram.

Talantris says, "Your paladin is in the field engaged in battle, while you are supposed to find, and purify the sword, yet you stand here, and do nothing."
Talantris nods to Ulstram.
Talantris says, "A failure."

Ulstram says softly, "I have no way of tracking the pieces, and my Ward is collecting bits from those Dark Alliance so I might track them... and better know when they'll strike."

Balthon asks, "You Ward is the cause of the loss of the sword...why should he be trusted?"

Ulstram says softly, "My Ward is not the cause of it shattering."

Talantris says, "Perhaps your ward has begun to lose faith, but has yet to reveal this to you."
Talantris nods to Ulstram.

Balthon says, "Had he been here to protect it...perhaps Morvule would not have been able to shatter it"

Siwas says, "It was Ulstram himself who was wielding the sword when it shattered."

Ulstram says softly, "The combination of darkness and light powers together caused it to shatter."

Ulstram says softly, "Morvule was not able to take the Sword whole, so he focused on shattering it as it were."

Balthon asks, "Could not your Ward have stopped Morvule?"

Ulstram says softly, "My Ward might be strong, but the Serpent Follower is more so in magic."

[Throughout this, the square remains busy. People fog in and out. The injured and dead are brought back for healing and raising.]

You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "Ulstram ya gotta help us out here"
You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "Dem critters is overwhelming"

Sepher says, "I told you already."
Sepher says, "He is powerless."

Ulstram cocks his head at Allanor.

You say, "Wait.. You're dead."
You stare at Allanor.
You thump Allanor but he just lies there, quite dead.
You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "Yeah..dey got to me"

Ulstram rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Ulstram says softly, "It has been a long time since I have fought... perhaps I might be of some help out there."

You ask, "How is it out there, wherever 'there'is?"

You cock your head at Allanor.
You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "It's bad"
You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "Very bad."

Kalivar cackles deep in his throat, his voice rising in chilling laughter.
Kalivar grasps the edges of his jackal skin cloak, lifts his arms, then flaps about like a huge bird.
Kalivar blurs into a white fog and vanishes!

Mylandria exclaims, "May darkness prevail you all!"

Ulstram shakes his head, clucking his tongue.

>Talantris says, "Perhaps your ward has decided to change his ways, and has lost his faith."

Ulstram says softly, "So ignorant of their faith."

Violenttmoon meditates over Allanor.
Violenttmoon takes some of Allanor's blood loss.

You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "Thanks Violenttmoon"
You hear the ghostly voice of Allanor say, "I'm ready to get raised if any clerics are free."

Ulstram cocks his head at Allanor.

Ulstram slowly raises his hands above his head, and whispers a faint prayer. A pale golden light flows out from Ulstram's staff and into Allanor.

Allanor says, "Ah thank you."
Allanor turns towards Ulstram and renders a sharp salute with his blue rolaren backsword.
Allanor says, "Preciates it"

Sepher smirks.
Sepher says, "You've many flaws Prophet. You have no place to comment on faith."
Sepher says, "I have seen you do nothing at all."
Sepher says, "Aside from putting on magical light shows that have done nothing."
Sepher says, "You failed to protect the sword."
Sepher says, "You failed to heal Krissella."
Sepher says, "You failed to forsee Luukos forces come."

Ulstram sighs.

Sepher says, "And you will fail the the savior of this town."
Sepher says, "You are a failure, Ulstram."
Sepher says, "You are nothing."

Ulstram says softly, "You cannot be that foolish, Milord... surely you know better."

Ulstram cocks his head at Sepher.

Songowl raises an eyebrow in Sepher's direction.
Songowl asks, "what ailed Krissella?"

Siwas says, "A scar, Songowl."

Ulstram says softly, "I healed that young woman where she neede to be healed, her faith. And I cannot forsee when the Dark Alliance attacks, until I get samples from them."

Sepher says, "Taking the blows of the oposing forces."
Sepher says, "You haven't known such pain, Ulstram."
Sepher says, "But you will."
Sepher smiles with a twisted look on his face as Ulstram.
Sepher says, "You will understand."

Ulstram says softly, "I know the full force of pain all lives on Elanith will be going through for this
Sword."

Ulstram says softly, "All in the flash of a moment."

Mylandria exclaims, "The Jackal is coming!"
Mylandria exclaims, "The Jackal is coming!"
Mylandria just went west.

Rekarth blinks.
Rekarth says, "How nice."

Siwas says, "Life is pain, prophet. It won't be anything more than what people would already suffer, it'll just be for a different reason."
Siwas shrugs.

Songowl asks, "and what types of samples do you seek?"
Songowl peers quizzically at Ulstram.

Ulstram says softly, "With clothing, and even pieces of scales or flesh... I should be able to scry for the Dark Alliance, and know when they are near again to attack, to prepare."

Songowl says, "ahh, I thought as much"

Ulstram raises his hands above his head, and slams his staff down into the ground! A golden light surrounds Ulstram for a second, and then...

Reikey just appeared.

Rekarth blinks.

Ulstram nods to Reikey.

Ulstram says softly, "You are safe."

Jamus blinks at Ulstram.

Siwas asks, "Where'd you come from?"
Siwas peers quizzically at Reikey.

Ulstram gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Ulstram gestures at Reikey.
Nothing happens.

Gravetaker's body jerks and trembles involuntarily, his muscles no longer controlled by his brain.
Gravetaker's body jerks and trembles involuntarily, his muscles no longer controlled by his brain.

Rekarth blinks at Gravetaker.
Rekarth says, "Now that is interesting."

Songowl ponders.
Songowl says, "perhaps it is time I began to get a little.. active"

Ulstram slowly raises his hands above his head, and whispers a faint prayer. A pale golden light flows out from Ulstram's staff and into Reikey.

Reikey blinks.

Siwas turns to face Ulstram.
(Siwas eyes Ulstram's staff with sharp interest.)

Talantris says, "Perhaps his tongue should be ripped from his mouth, so his propaganda would cease."

Sepher nods to Talantris.
Sepher says, "Perhaps."
Sepher says, "Once I destroy his Wardsman."

Ulstram says softly, "You cannot."

Sepher says, "I will bring Kendryth's head here to this temple."
Sepher grins evilly.

Rekarth says, "That should be amusing."

Ulstram says softly, "I wish you wouldn't say that."

Talantris asks, "What shall we do with his head Sephyr?"
Talantris grins coldly, his eyes reflecting no emotion.

Sepher says, "I will bring his head here, to this temple."

Ulstram says softly, "You see..."

Ulstram says softly, "As much as my Ward protects me..."

Ulstram says softly, "I protect him as well."

Sepher says, "And show it too all these fools."
Sepher says, "Then..."

Ulstram taps his staff on the ground and a golden light suddenly emcompasses Sepher! A shield of brilliant hue surrounds him, and in a blink of an eye, he is gone!

Rekarth blinks.

Siwas blinks.

You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.

Rekarth says, "Now that was amusing."

Dispater glances at Ulstram.
Dispater takes a few steps back.

Ulstram says softly, "Afterall, I have no 'power' as he says."

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

Ulstram says softly, "He'll be occupied for a while."

Jamus says, "He's sliding down a water tunnel."

Reikey says, "I dunno, I'd put you under the "powerful" list"
Reikey rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Reikey nods.

Dispater smirks.
Dispater says, "He's blind.. he probably couldn't defend himself against a squirrel."
Dispater smirks.

Ulstram says softly, "I might be blind, Milord, but I know when a snake is admist the grass."

Dispater shrugs.
Dispater says, "I am not hiding."
Dispater glances at Ulstram.

Ruach says, "Faith is not blind."
Ruach says, "The battle is more than swords and threats."

Siwas asks, "What do you wait here for, Prophet?"
Siwas asks, "The return of your Ward?"
Siwas turns to face Ulstram.

Ulstram says softly, "I simply wait, and help when I am of need."

Ruach says, "Perhaps he wishes to bathe in your bitterness."

Siwas asks, "My bitterness?"
Siwas raises an eyebrow in Ruach's direction.

Talantris says, "The prophet will not engaged in the ensueing battles, perhaps he is afraid."

Ulstram says softly, "Fear has nothing to do with it."

Siwas asks, "And what do you mean by that?"
Siwas peers quizzically at Ruach.

Dispater says, "Some people are more useful behind the front lines."
Dispater shrugs.

Siwas gazes up into the heavens.
Siwas glances at Ruach.

Talantris says, "All he does is spread his lies."

Ulstram says softly, "I have no lies to spread."

Ulstram raises his hands above his head, and slams his staff down into the ground! A golden light surrounds Ulstram for a second, and then...

Hhooru just appeared.

Lorissia blinks.

You glance at Hhooru.

You hear the ghostly voice of Hhooru say, "Ouch"

Vixesse asks, "Neat trick. Only work for the dead or can ya bring living folks too?"
Vixesse peers quizzically at Ulstram.

You see a wave of energy emanate from Ulstram toward Hhooru. It coalesces around his body and then seeps in, leaving a glow around the body.

Keraa asks, "anyone helping you?"
Keraa glances at Hhooru.

You hear the ghostly voice of Hhooru say, "I'm not sure."

Ulstram slowly raises his hands above his head, and whispers a faint prayer. A pale golden light flows out from Ulstram's staff and into Hhooru.

Hhooru says, "Welp"
Hhooru says, "That was quick."

Mery says, "He's alive."
Mery blinks.

(Siwas points to a spot just in front of the pillars.)
Siwas says, "You. Stay there."
Siwas stares at Songowl.

Songowl sits down.
Songowl chuckles.
Songowl says, "it would seem my little mission failed"
Songowl nods to Ulstram.

Ulstram cocks his head at Songowl.

Ulstram inquires quietly, "Why so you say such?"

Siwas says, "Because he nearly died and I had to go fetch him."

Ulstram says softly, "I see."

Songowl says, "well, I did manage to retrive some of the fallen, but I had underestimated their strength.. before I could claim a sample, one of the lizards had lethally poisoned me"
Siwas says, "And if he moves from that spot on the ground, I'll bind him in place, because I don't want to have to fetch dead sylvans tonight."
Songowl says, "it was fortunate that Siwas was passing by with the remedy"

Siwas mutters under her breath.

Lorissia says, "Ulstram, ye powers would do well on the battlefield for our dead."

Talantris says, "Songowl failed, as did your Ward, to protect the sword, as will you, to purify it."
Talantris asks, "Did I saw you were protecting the sword?"
Talantris says, "I said His ward was."
Talantris says, "His ward failed, you failed, he failed..."

Ulstram says softly, "It is not the Lady's place to protect the temple."

Siwas says, "I thought it was everyone's place to protect what was dear to them."

Talantris says, "His entire armies, are a failure."
Talantris points at Ulstram.
Talantris says, "He has brought disgrace upon himself."

Ulstram inquires quietly, "Do you really wish what happen to your friend happen to you as well?"

Ulstram cocks his head at Talantris.

Talantris glances at Ulstram.
Talantris asks, "You again, are afraid of the words I speak?"
Talantris peers quizzically at Ulstram.

Vixesse says, "Ya talk a lot of someone who's got nothing ta say."
Vixesse glances at Talantris.

You hear the voice of Sepher say, "Ulstram."
>You hear the voice of Sepher say, "That was cute."

Ulstram says softly, "I thought so."

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

You hear the voice of Sepher say, "But that won't stop me."

Ulstram says softly, "I wish for some silence, these ears can only take so much constant bickering and threats from those of Lornon."

Dispater says, "The tide overwhelms.."
Dispater cackles!

You hear the voice of Sepher say, "I will still bring you your Wardsman's head..."
You hear the voice of Sepher say, "Right before I take yours."

Ulstram gingerly rubs his ears.

Rekarth says, "Really, you shouldn't go about telling them beforehand, it sounds unprofessional."

Ulstram taps his staff, and bright golden light reveals Sepher's hiding spot.

Talantris says, "The prophet will not engage in the ensueing battles, it seems Thaisis, yet he claims he protects his paladin, as his paladin protects him."

Thaisis says, "His Paladin is not invunerable."

Sepher says, "No one is invunerable."

Ulstram says softly, "Wounds mean little to what my Ward has witnessed in his lifetime."

Sepher says, "lifetimes all end sometime, Ulstram."
Sepher says, "And yours and your Wardsman are close to ending."

Ulstram says softly, "You speak it as if I fear death."

Myral asks, "Who sent away Sepher?"

Ulstram inquires quietly, "Back so soon?"

Ulstram cocks his head at Kalivar.

Sepher says, "It's not the death you should fear, Ulstram."
Sepher says, "It's the preface to death that I will enjoy."
Sepher says, "It is time for me to take my leave. Ponder my words, Ulstram. Warn you people, whatever makes you feel good."
Sepher smirks.
Sepher says, "Farewell."

Ulstram says softly, "Coming from you, a chuckle would make me 'feel good'"

(Sepher turns sharply, his cloak billowing behind him.)
Sepher just went west.

Ulstram smiles quietly to himself.

Ulstram says softly, "I should seek my Ward, and gather the things he has for me."

Dispater asks, "Things he has for you..?"
Dispater glances at Ulstram.

Ulstram slowly walks forward, and a glowing golden light encompasses him. As he continues to stroll, Ulstram dissolves into small sparks of light.

After the Battle

The Luukosian invasion over, both Ultstram and Kendryth return to the temple for a brief discussion about what transpired. Kendryth is injured, but Ulstram heals him with a touch. As Kendryth speaks of the need to reinforce the southern bridge in anticipation of another attack, Ulstram is struck of a vision of a town burning, the people within dying. Not knowing what the Landing actually looks like, he does not recognize the town in his vision. Ulstram retires to the temple while Kendryth moves on to work with anyone willing to help reinforce key places outside of town.

You also see a glowing white stone and a wrought-iron gate.
Also here: Lady Eleana, Ulial, Sylnorella, Lord Luthinian, Lady Amberain, Dispater, Krissella, Great Lord Kabriel, Silverphenix, Lord Dhanis, Lady Silversi, Lord Alti, Wardsman Kendryth, Ulstram, Lord Ceillyn, Bijon, Jarien, Azyri who is seated, Lorissia, Lady Keraa, Lord Rekarth, Lord Brison, Skorrian, Kylisie
Obvious paths: south, east, west.

Kendryth says, "They fought bravely. I will be fine."

You see Kendryth Tulurin the Human Paladin.
He appears to be in his 100's, has deep black silver-streaked hair, dark steel-grey eyes, and tanned skin.
He has some minor cuts and bruises on his right arm, a fractured and bleeding left arm, some minor cuts and bruises on his right leg, a fractured and bleeding left leg, and minor bruises about the head.
He is holding a lustrous golvern claidhmore veined with dark crimson in his right hand.
He is wearing a suit of golden golvern plate traced with dark rolaren filigree, a pair of dark leather boots reinforced with plates of rolaren, a billowing white cape heavily worked with patterns of golden knotwork, a massive white-gold sheath, a dark golden golvern shield inlaid with a lustrous white-gold crown, and a small golden crown pendant.

Kendryth put a lustrous golvern claidhmore veined with dark crimson in his white-gold sheath.

Kendryth says, "They have archers. And ballistas."

Ulstram reaches out and places a hand on Kendryth's arm. A pale golden light flows from the old man's fingertips and seeps into Kendryth's body.

Silverphenix says, "Impressive healing, sir."

Krissella blinks at Ulstram.
Krissella tilts her head down.
(Krissella stares at her palm.)

Kendryth says, "They are too many. I worry for this town."

(Rekarth watches the soothsayer and paladin with interest.)

Ulstram says softly, "This town is strong, as are its inhabitants."

Kabriel says, "We'd like to think so."
Kabriel says, "We will be ever ready, milord."

Kendryth says, "That we will, but we must call for reinforcements from any who would join the struggle."

Metadi says, "Be assured, if we do fall, we shall lessen the ranks of the enemy."

Ulstram says softly, "With luck, we shall know ahead of time when they attack again."

Morgiest says, "Aye. Thier attack caught us unawares. We did nae expect one so soon. But, the militias are summoned to full strength. They shall nae have it so easy next time."

Silverphenix asks, "What of the sword, Ulstram?"

Ulstram inquires quietly, "What of the Sword?"

Silverphenix asks, "Has there been any new discovery as to the whereabouts of the pieces?"

Kabriel asks, "Do you have any new information to where the parts may be hidden?"
Kabriel asks, "Or perhaps where the fourth part went?"

Kendryth says, "I've sent scouts to several places to seek out anything. It is all we can do."

Ulstram shakes his head.

Ulstram says softly, "I have been unable to track the Dark Alliance's armies, but with these bits of skin and clothing my Ward has brought me... I should be successful."

Silverphenix says, "Ulstram, you set up wards to protect the Sword before it was...removed."
Silverphenix asks, "Could similar divine barriers be put into effect to help defend the town?"

Ulstram says softly, "No. That wasn't my work, however, those protective wards are only good for a small range."

Silverphenix asks, "What about just setting them at the main entrances to town, the most likely breach points?"

Kendryth says, "They could not hold off so many... they'd find a gap, even if we put up a perimeter."

Dispater says, "They failed, anyway."
Dispater smirks.

Ulstram says softly, "They succeeded until I removed them for the ritual."

Kendryth squints at Dispater.

Ulstram cocks his head at Dispater.

Kendryth asks, "Weren't you acting as an assassin on the battlefield?"

Dispater smirks.
Dispater says, "Assassins keep to the shadows."
Dispater glances at Kendryth.
Dispater says, "I stayed in the open."

Kendryth snorts.

Kendryth says, "Justice will come to you."

You lean on your scythe.

Silverphenix says, "Ignore him, Ulstram. They'd love nothing more than to bother a Prophet of Lorminstra with their forked tongues."

Dispater chuckles.
Dispater says, "I await its arrival."
Dispater nods to Kendryth.

Ulstram says softly, "They've been trying to distract me for some time now."

Kabriel says, "Do not trouble yourself with his idle chatter, milord...if we get the sword parts, it will not matter."

Kendryth asks, "May I have your leave, my Lord Prophet?"

Ulstram nods to Kendryth.

Kendryth says, "I must find someone."

Ulstram says softly, "You may."

Kendryth bows, then quietly strides off.

Silverphenix says, "Have faith, Prophet. It is our greatest weapon."
Silverphenix says, "We are in Kendryth's debt. And yours."

A passerby runs off to the constable screaming Dispater has committed treason!

Brison throws his head back and howls!

Kadesha chuckles.

Boomsplat bursts out in loud, raucous laughter.

Rekarth blinks at Dispater.

Ulstram cocks his head.

Silverphenix raises an eyebrow.
Silverphenix says, "It's about time."
Silverphenix shakes his head.

Ulstram says softly, "That does not bode well."

Rekarth asks, "When did you do that?"
Rekarth raises an eyebrow in Dispater's direction.

Kabriel asks, "Ulstram...is there anything new that you can tell us since the ceremony?"

Ulstram looks over at Kabriel and shakes his head.

Ulstram says softly, "I have no further information until I am able to track the Dark Alliance's army."

Kabriel nods to Ulstram.
Kabriel says, "Understood."

Silverphenix says, "We should work on organizing a defense of the town, for the next assault."

Shonison says, "I'd say we organized fairly well this time"

Bijon asks, "Can we begin searching for the pieces?"

Silverphenix says, "Kendryth has sent agents to search for them."

Ulstram says softly, "You can search, but I am uncertain how successful you will be until we know what region they have fallen to."

You ask, "Where did the army come from, Ulstram? I heard from the Solhaven trail, the place you said to ignore?"
You cock your head at Ulstram.

Ulstram says softly, "I never said to ignore anywhere."

You say, "Ah, your ward then. We were instructed to pay no heed to the Luukosians in the freeport."
You nod to Ulstram.

Ulstram says softly, "Those that just attacked came from the foothills."

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

Kendryth quietly strides in.

Silverphenix asks, "In the mean time, have you any strategy to suggest, Ulstram?"

Kabriel says, "Their attacks were cowardly. Hiding from the hills and shooting arrows..."
Kabriel says, "Incredibly organized however..."

Shonison says, "cowardly, but very good strategy"

Kabriel says, "Aye..."
Kabriel says, "The knew they could not win against us one on one."

Ulstram says softly, "That was just one of the armies we will be facing, and not even all of their troops."

Allanor asks, "Dat was jest one army..?"
Allanor says, "Das gonna be hard to stem the tide if der's three more forces like dats.."
Allanor idly scratches himself on the neck.

Kendryth says, "In the meantime, we must prepare for their attacks in the future. They have arrows, and we know that they have to take the bridge near the monestary in order to get here."

Ulstram says softly, "I have seen what happens when the four have converged on a city, all at once. And it will happen if we cannot find the pieces first."

Keraa asks, "How long before they reach the city gates?"
Keraa glances at Ulstram.

Kendryth says, "We should fortify that bridge."

(Silverphenix rubs his right shoulder with his left hand, easing newly healed injured muscles.)

Shonison says, "there is more than one way to the city from the foolhills...if they discover the burrow orc caves, we will be in trouble as well"

Silverphenix asks, "Kendryth, could we employ some war machines of our own?"
Silverphenix cocks his head at Kendryth.
Silverphenix asks, "Perhaps construct our own ballista or catapults?"

Ulstram suddenly grows still.

Silverphenix blinks.
Silverphenix cocks his head at Ulstram.

You glance at Ulstram.

Rekarth rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Kendryth says, "If we can build them, but I am not a skilled engineer."

Silverphenix asks, "Perhaps we can find some...is Ulstram alright?"
(Silverphenix reaches out in Ulstram's direction.)

Ulstram stumbles backwards but remains on his feet with the help of his staff.

Kendryth says, "He's... having a vision."

Allanor just tried to pull Ulstram towards him!

Ulstram says softly, "Oh my."

Silverphenix just touched Ulstram.
Silversoft rubs Ulstram gently.

Turinrond says, "dun't touch 'em"

Silverphenix asks, "What is it?"
(Silversoft touches Ulstrams elbow gently, steadying him)

Kabriel asks, "Kendryth...how would you avoid the arrows? Should you simply stay low to the ground?"
Kabriel peers quizzically at Kendryth.

Kadesha gestures at Ulstram.
A pure white aura sparkles around Ulstram.

Ulstram says softly, "I... I saw something again."

Shonison asks, "what?"

Kabriel blinks at Ulstram.

Kendryth cocks his head at Ulstram.

Turinrond leans forward.

Eleana asks, "what?"

Rekarth asks, "Perhaps we could reduce all of the lands between here and Solhaven to a blasted wasteland, to prevent the living troops from being able to forage for sustenance?"

Dispater stares at Rekarth.

Ulstram says softly, "A great fire."

Silverphenix says, "Perhaps it is not wise to speak in this company..."

Shonison asks, "where?"

Dispater glances at Silverphenix.
Dispater touches one finger to his lips.

Rekarth asks, "A fire, you say?"

Ulstram says softly, "I cannot tell where, but there were buildings... even people being burned."

Ulstram says softly, "So much damage."

Bijon asks, "In the Present, or in the past?"
Bijon says, "or future.."

Kabriel says, "In the future...he is a prophet."

Silversoft asks, "man made fire? or natural fire?"

Kendryth furrows his brow.

Nikkee says, "so much pain...."

Boomsplat says, "Fire...bad."
Boomsplat nods.

Silverphenix says, "Neither, I imagine, Silversoft."

Ulstram says softly, "This was no natural fire."

Kendryth says, "We need to fortify the bridge. If we build some sort of covering, we can avoid the arrows."

Kabriel nods.

You say, "Bridges can burn too."
You nod to Kendryth.

Grhim says, "It shall be quite interesting to watch some of these townsfolk burn."
Grhim glances at Boomsplat.

Kendryth says, "I don't intend to let them get past it."

Silverphenix says, "An excellent idea."

Kaeynne says, "I will assist you to make sure it doesn't, Kendryth"

Kabriel asks, "How will we build it, Kendryth?"

Kendryth says, "Wood, scraps of armor, anything."

Silverphenix says, "The bridge is stone, and they could easily enough find another way to ford the river."

Kabriel asks, "Who will build it?"
Kabriel peers quizzically at Kendryth.

Keraa asks, "what can we do to protect ourselves?"

Kabriel says, "Wear armor."

Ulstram gingerly rubs his forehead.

Grhim says, "You can leave."
Grhim nods to Keraa.

Silverphenix says, "Perhaps the Artisan Guild will have some names."
Silverphenix rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Silverphenix says, "They may know some skilled engineers."

Ulstram says softly, "Be alert... we are vulnerable until I can track the armies."

Kendryth says, "You will, anyone who might."

Ulstram says softly, "Those poor people..."

Grandevr asks, "Sir Kendryth, do we just bring mass qualities of goods to the Bridge area?"

Turinrond asks, "eh, ye wanna make 'em trip on hob greaves or sometin?"
Turinrond looks rather confused.

Allanor begins chuckling at Turinrond.

Kendryth says, "Anyone who has engineering knowledge, find them. All we need is a rudimentary ceiling over our head, and we have no fear of arrows."

Silverphenix rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Silverphenix asks, "Iron Jack, perhaps?"
Silverphenix says, "He is a skilled blacksmith."
Silverphenix ponders.

Kabriel rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Kabriel says, "Indeed..."

Metadi asks, "What of those who can craft and forge?"

Kabriel says, "But he is a metalsmith."

Kendryth says, "That may work."

Silverphenix says, "Metal is used in construction as well as wood."

Morgiest says, "Aye. Ahm a master crafter Sir kendryth."

Shonison says, "digging trenches may work as well"

Silverphenix asks, "What say you, Kendryth? Should we seek the help of the Blacksmith?"

Metadi says, "I have some small knowledge in that field as well."

Kabriel says, "I can widdle as good as the next man meself."

Kendryth asks, "My Lord Prophet, may I have leave to devise these plans?"

Ulstram nods to Kendryth.

Ulstram says softly, "You may."

Kendryth says, "Thank you. Those who might aid in fortifying the bridge, come with me."

Wardsman Kendryth just went west.

Ulstram shakes his head.

Ulstram says softly, "I will meditate on it later, perhaps I can see more."

>Myral exclaims, "May Lorminstra fall to Sheru's wrath. The Jackal is coming for you!"
>Keraa says, "many thanks Ulstram for your help"

Ulstram says softly, "Tis why I came."

Ulstram bows slowly.

Allanor says, "Aye preciates da help Ulstram."

>whisper ulstram Rest up. If today is but the first wave, then no doubt much more strength is needed.
You whisper quietly to Ulstram.

Keraa says, "we would be lost without you"

Ulstram nods to you.

Grhim says, "Sleep well prophet."
Grhim smirks.

Keraa says, "be well prophet"
Keraa smiles at Ulstram.

Ulstram smiles.

Ulstram says softly, "I should return to my chamber, and start work on tracking the armies."

Ulstram says softly, "I shall return again when I have news."

Eleana says, "may ye find a moment of peace and renewal"

Ulstram says softly, "May the Lady's light watch over you."

You think to yourself, "May the Light guide.."
Alisaire smiles faintly.

Ulstram slowly walks forward to the temple, his staff touching the ground just ahead of him.

Fortifying Defenses

Meanwhile, Kendryth has gathered those to him who are eager to help fortify the bridge leading south from the Landing. Those helping are tasked with bringing a variety of items needed - logs, slabs of metal, spare armor, shields, any sort of makeshift defensive component to shore up the bridge and allow it to be more easily defended by archers and others for the next anticipated attack. Those possessing magic help by heating up the metal items so they can be hammered in place.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]
You stand below the top bank of the eastern shore of the Locksmehr River. From here you have a good view of the many merchant barges and fishing boats that move along the river. Some move towards the Landing to exchange their goods for silver, while others are working their way upstream to gather new cargo. You also see the Vlandris disk, a heavy slab of iron, a chunk of dry firewood, a long stick, a split log, a stained stick, a heavy slab of iron, a field mouse who is sitting, a rough foundation, a field mouse who is sitting, the Kylinarr disk, a sleek golden-eyed lemur who is sitting, a white cat who is sitting, the Metadi disk, the Kelbor disk, the Azrov disk, a wooden sign and a sturdy bridge.
Also here: Great Lady Vlandris, Tekkla, Malaficia, Grandsome, Alaviar, Kraytorh, Gerakis, Great Lord Dimwitt, Azaer, Hhooru, Sansil, Ariond, Lady Michalie, Defij, Lord Syberus who is kneeling, Silversoft, Barttonium, Lady Sherysse, Nephros, High Lady Kadesha, Kylinarr who is kneeling, Jinnrui, Great Lord Atlanteax, Lord Metadi, Turinrond who is kneeling, Perigourd, Morgiest, Kelbor, Azrov, Jolena, Chomm, Lord Sauthurdig, Lord Zosopage, Maji, Lord Jonty, Xinister, Lord Kcutter, Great Lord Grandevr, Wardsman Kendryth
Obvious paths: south, east.

(Morgiest drives a dagger deep into a log with a deft stroke, securin a shield in place)

Maji says, "we almost outta stuff"

(Silversoft admires all the working Men)

(Turinrond pounds on the iron futilely with his truncheon.)

(Kcutter climbs to the top of the barricade.)

(Kadesha mutters something about they never taught this in monks schooling)

(Ariond checks the base of the foundation, making sure there are no weak points at the bottom, and hastily adds more logs for additional support.)

(Metadi picks up a shield and taps it in between two overhead beams.)

Turinrond lunges forth and ambushes an unsuspecting slab of iron mercilessly but to little effect.
Turinrond mutters under his breath.
Turinrond gestures at a heavy slab of iron.
Turinrond launched a flare at a heavy slab of iron!
The slab of iron grows warm to the touch then quickly cools off.
Turinrond says, "ahh"

(Morgiest misses the dagger and smashes his thumb!)
Morgiest exclaims, "Oww!"

(Xinister tosses a shield on top of the foundation.)

Azrov asks, "arent we worried about luukos huffing and puffinf and blowing this in?"

Syberus launched a flare at a heavy slab of iron!
The slab of iron grows warm to the touch then quickly cools off.

(Sauthurdig puts logs on the foundation)

Azrov raises his fist defiantly.

(Turinrond begins to flatten out the warmed iron slab with his truncheon.)
Turinrond says, "gah.. tis dwarfs' work"
Turinrond mumbles something that you don't quite catch.

(Metadi lifts the slab of iron with a grunt and quickly rests it on two overhead beams.)
Metadi asks, "Now how am I going to secure that?"
Metadi frowns.

(Dovezkry pounds the log into the ground)

(Kelbor sharpens more sticks and continues to place them in the front line of the foundation)

(Kadesha continues to try and help and be busy but probably looks more stupid then competent at the art of construction)

(Kcutter pound logs into place on the top edge of the baricade sweeping upwards and back.)

Kendryth holds up his hands and motions for silence.

A pall of silence settles on the area.

Kendryth says, "We've done well."

Kendryth says, "Now we need to find some armor and pile it atop that."

Kendryth points at a rough foundation.

The pall of silence leaves the area.

(Kylinarr takes handfuls of mud and starts filling the gaps between the logs in)

Ariond glances at a rough foundation.

Maji says, "armor"

Turinrond drops a monk's truncheon.

(Xinister tosses an armor on top of the foundation.)

Metadi asks, "Any particular kind?"

Turinrond says, "Invadin' orcs"

Ariond says, "maybe"
Ariond says, "shields"

Kendryth says, "Shields would work."

Kendryth says, "Make sure they're metal."

Maji nods.

Metadi nods.

Metadi asks, "What about half plate?"

Alaviar says, "I was thinking plate and chain armors"

Kendryth says, "Half plate, anything."

Metadi nods.

Kabriel says, "Alright...gimme a few."

(Sauthurdig puts logs on the foundation)

Ariond asks, "someone heat up a slab of iron for me?"

Kylinarr gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Kylinarr gestures at a heavy slab of iron.
Kylinarr hurls a stream of fire at a heavy slab of iron!
The slab of iron glows with a warm aura then quickly cools off.

Kelbor asks, "do ya think we could make some caltrops to throw out in front?"

Kendryth put a reinforced shield on a rough foundation.

(Ariond goes to work on the iron with his hammer, slowly forging it into a sheet.)

(Kcutter continues pounding in logs, making what appears to be a latticework roof extending over you.)

Kelbor says, "that ways they spike their feet as the approach."

yberus asks, "Could we hang a dead snake from the front of the bridge?"

Kendryth chuckles.

Sansil says, "would be nice if folks took the defense of the town seriously and not jest about it for once"

Kylinarr asks, "i've no clue about construction...anyone know if this will hold?"

Kendryth says, "It will."

(Kcutter jumps to the ground)

(Hhooru smashes a big log into the ground.)

(Sherysse pounds the armor into the top of the fortification, muttering as she hits her thumb.)

Kabriel asks, "We need more, milord?"

Kendryth says, "Yes, we do. Place them on this."

Kendryth points at a rough foundation.

Hhooru says, "Sturdy."

Kendryth says, "Arrows."

Maji asks, "arrows?"
Maji peers quizzically at Kendryth.

Maji says, "arrows"

(Ariond continues his work on the iron piece, as it slowly takes on more of a sheetlike appearance.)

(Dimwitt hammers da nail intae da wood an gits nutter one)

(Turinrond helps to pile the armors and weapons on top of the foundation.)

(Dovezkry places the armor high, securing it with mud and trying her best to make it sturdy)

(Sauthurdig starts to build a roof of logs)

Kendryth says, "This will stop any arrows from hitting us, good people. They won't be able to pick off our stalwart defenders, then."

(Ariond finishes his completed iron sheet, and places it on the foundation.)

Dovezkry says, "it's looking good"

Kylinarr exclaims, "more wood!"
Kylinarr says, "we need to get more wood"

(Sauthurdig continues to build a roof)

Kendryth looks up at the bits of armor and shields atop the foundation.

You gaze thoughtfully at the rough foundation.

Kendryth says, "This is looking very promising."

(Kcutter throws the shield up to Sauthurdig.)

Turinrond asks, "tis good? Or ye need more?"

Maji put some arrows on a rough foundation.

Kytrarewn asks, "is it gonna work?"

Xinister says, "hopefully."

Kendryth ponders.

Kendryth asks, "We have a wizard here?"

Perigourd nods to Kendryth.

(Kcutter works the shield into the top of the foundation.)

Turinrond says, "several"

Grandevr says, "Yes"
Grandevr raises his hand.

Kendryth says, "I hope you have good aim."

(Zosopage pounds the eye into the foundation to make the bad guys feel watched)

Turinrond asks, "we kin melt its now?"

Hhooru asks, "What am I aiming at?"

Kendryth says, "I would ask you to aim your fire at the metal atop. It must be fused to the wood."

Maji says, "someone sancted"
Maji says, "can't cast."

Morgiest says, "This place is sancted"

(Metadi gets to work affixing some half plate to the top of the fortification.)

Kendryth nods.

(Syberus tosses Ariond on top of the foundation as well)

Ariond lets out a yelp!
(Ariond hastily climbs off the foundation before he is covered by armor.)

Kabriel says, "Ah yes...a sanct would be problematic..."

Kendryth says, "Whoever's set up their sanctuary here, we must be rid of it."

Kendryth nods.

Kabriel says, "I will also help with the fusing. I can call upon a fire spirit...that should help on some level."

(Metadi lashes a suit of chain mail to one of the uprights.)

Grandevr says, "Silversolf, please step away for a bit so the Sanct can drop"
Grandevr nods to Silversoft.

Silversoft just went south.

Kendryth says, "We need to melt the metal, it will encase the logs and protect it from being set aflame."

Kytrarewn asks, "how do we melt it?"

Kylinarr says, "we heat it up"

Ariond says, "use fire spells to melt the metal."
Ariond says, "flares work too."

Kabriel says, "I will use fire spirit."

(Metadi raises one of the sleeves of the chain mail and lashes it to a crossbeam.)

(Kcutter pounds log into the foundation)

Syberus gestures at a rough foundation.
Syberus launched a flare at a rough foundation!
The rough foundation grows warm to the touch then quickly cools off.

(Zosopage pounds the log into the ground, closing the gap between the sides of the bridge)

Kendryth exclaims, "Not the foundation!"

Perigourd exclaims, "the armor!"

Dovezkry gestures at some half plate.
Dovezkry hurls a stream of fire at some half plate!
The half plate glows with a warm aura then quickly cools off.

Kabriel gestures at some chain mail.
Kabriel launched a flare at some chain mail!
The chain mail grows warm to the touch then quickly cools off.

Turinrond gestures at some half plate.
Turinrond launched a flare at some half plate!
The half plate grows warm to the touch then quickly cools off.

(Metadi starts beating the heated metal into shape around the logs.)

(Metadi keeps on shaping the heated metal around the beams with his forging-hammer.)

Kylinarr says, "that should be good enough...if it's nay melted now, it won't melt."

Sansil wipes the sweat from his brow.

Kendryth says, "We're successful."

Kendryth points at a large metal-topped barrier.

>look barrier
The barrier appears to be made of rough logs and sticks that reach the height of an average giantman, each coated with a thick layer of melted melted. Laying atop the latticework of sticks and logs are piles of heavy armor, most fused as if by some intense heat. The barrier arcs nearly over the entire area.

Turinrond applauds.

Keisa lets out a cheer!

Dovezkry says, "well done"

Xinister beams!
Xinister says, "the barrier is created."

Sherysse says, "I can't believe we all built this"

Metadi says, "Well, nae a bad piece of work."

Kadesha wipes the sweat from her brow.

Ariond says, "looks good."
Ariond nods.
Ariond asks, "think it'll hold?"

Kcutter exclaims, "Good work People!"

(Dovezkry scribbles her name on the corner of the foundation)

Kendryth says, "We've done a good job, this should protect our defenders from anything they hurl at us for a while. They can't stand up to us in close combat."

Ulial rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Ulial asks, "Why here?"

Metadi says, "Because we have reason to believe that the next attack will come from here, and this is a good choke point to defend."

Kendryth nods.

Kendryth says, "If we can stop them here, then we stop them from nearing town."

Ulial says, "Just seems, if the attack comes from the same place as the last, would skip here altogether"

Kendryth says, "I will speak with your blacksmith about war machines. I am unskilled in such methods."

Syberus says, "I'm a war machine.."

Ulial says, "Personally I'd think you'd want to put it closer to town"

Kytrarewn says, "but there's no choke-point closer to town"

Metadi says, "Prime defensive terrain behind this, and we want to have as much room to defend as we can"

Ulial says, "Why not across the bridge and a bit west, where three paths meet"
Ulial says, "Cut off mine road and trollfang"

Metadi says, "If we get overrun here, we can fall back and hold them."

Silverphenix says, "I mentioned to him earlier that his expertise would be needed, Kendryth."

Kendryth nods to Silverphenix.

Kabriel says, "But they have the high road here."
Kabriel says, "That is why we need a barrier here."

Metadi says, "But if we fight at the gate, then we're lost if we get overrun"

Wendol says, "a war machine that throws fire would be a good addition"

Kadesha asks, "aint their goal to find a piece of the sword?"
Kadesha peers quizzically at Kendryth.

Kendryth says, "Morvule has said he is angered with the town. I know not if a sword piece is here."

Silverphenix says, "I agree, additional barriers would be a prudent measure."

Kabriel says, "The reason why we need a barrier with a roof here is because of the bank."

Kadesha says, "would Morvule be the best source of information though? sorta dont trust that the scaly bastage would say"

Kendryth says, "I know his armies march, good lady, and I prepare for them."

Kadesha says, "I know this as well, but seemed they want the sword, and then ta kill the town"

Dispater says, "Hurry up and move on to your next barrier so that we might tear this one down."
Dispater says, "Built from tender.."
Dispater smirks.

Ulial says, "But if they go to another point, this barrier doesn't do anything"

Kendryth says, "We should build more, it is a good idea."

Grand Lord Kendryth's group went across a sturdy bridge.
