The Griffin Sword Saga (storyline)/2004-07-24 - Maige (log)
Maige was one of three young girls that Eryael captured, tortured, and twisted to his will during his time focusing on assaulting Solhaven in the summer of 2004. The other two were Privea and Jeselle. After breaking them, Eryael bestowed upon them significant power, channeled from Mularos, and then let them free. They had been given a lust for suffering, and being but children, they aptly put their new powers to use. They would regularly seek out to torture or kill the city's villagers and defenders, happily informing them that it was revenge for their "refusal" to save the girls when they most needed help. In reality, the defenders had tried valiantly to save them but were unable. The three would eventually be driven mad, both by what they had experienced and by what they were able to do. Subarashi, Rebeya, and Godefroy, were finally able to save them, with Ulstram's help, using relics to purge them of Eryael's power and their memories of torture. While they were saved, their scars ran very deep. Their fates varied after being returned to their families, with Maige and Privea leading quiet, reclusive lives while Jeselle was ultimately committed on Teras Isle after a mental break.
This log clip of Maige, from on or around 7/24/04, was a typical display of the girls' powers.
Maige glances at you and yawns. Maige smiles briefly at you and flicks her hand in an upwards motion. Suddenly, a writhing mass of thorny rose-covered vines bursts from the ground and enshrouds you in a haze of deep crimson roses and verdant foliage. The vines begin to tighten slowly, sending trails of blood along their writhing surfaces. You find yourself unable to move as the pain of the thorns digging deeply into your flesh sends shockwaves along your body! Maige says, "Those who would not aid, they aid me now." The vines squeeze tighter and tighter, drawing your breath from your lungs even as the long, piercing thorns puncture your flesh. Maige says, "They suffer for me." The thorns scrape across your flesh in a see-sawing motion, digging painful furrows into your skin that bleed with a fresh bounty of blood. Maige says, "They receive justice." The thorns press in deeper, piercing your flesh even as they slide back and forth to bring untold amounts of pain tingling along your sense. Just as you feel you might die from the pure agony the thorns inflict upon you, they freeze instantly, the stems of the roses pulsing briefly. The roses suddenly blossom and send forth waves of incarnadine energy drifting up to the heavens before the vines dissolve into an acidic effluence that burns your skin and seeps into your already fresh wounds! The last thing you manage to sense before you pass out is the distinct scent of the roses, their sickly-sweet smell overpowering your senses before the blackness takes over.
