The Kraken Collective
|
The Kraken Collective was established Niiman, the 1st day of Eorgaen, in the year 5122 by a group of adventures who had settled on the island of Kraken's Fall, located in the vast ocean known as the Tenebrous Cauldron.
The island, inhabited by survivors of the Terror of the Trench, was a safe haven where adventures could live an honest life without intereference from the outside world.
The founders of the Collective saw the need for a unified group to steward the history of Kraken File while being active participants in its future development. The Collective provides service and resources to the citizens of the island, and defends the island from hostile forces.
For visitors to the island, members of the Collective serve as ambassadors. The Collective supports and orients visitors by teaching and upholding the traditions of the culture and the island way of life.

Honor Amongst Thieves
Honor Amongst Thieves is game exclusively run by the Kraken Collective which pits skill and savvy, with cutthroat cunning. A grand prize awaits the masses who partake in the game, but distraction and deceit offers an opportunity to keep the winnings to themselves.
A breakdown of the rules:
At the beginning of each round, the Purloiner assigns each player one of 4 symbols – Treasure Chest, Frigate, Jolly Roger, Deadman’s Plank. My job as the Purloiner is to fairly and unfairly run the game. I assign your symbols but you’re not told what that symbol is.
A player cannot ask me what their own symbol is. Players must use their wit to discover it on their own.
A player can ask me what another player’s symbol is, and I am obligated to provide a truthful answer. I will whisper the answer to the asking player. Players will take turns asking me about another player’s symbol. You may only ask about 1 player at a time but can ask about multiple players in the same round.
Since you don’t know what symbol you are, you can ask another player. Maybe your friend tells you the truth, or maybe your friend lies right to your face. There is no honor among thieves.
At the end of the round, Hopefully, you have an idea of what your symbol is, you tell me, and I tell you whether you are right or wrong. If you correctly identify your own symbol, you move onto the next round. If not, you are eliminated.
For the first few minutes you’re expected to remain in the playing area. During this time, you are encouraged to determine your symbol. Following this, you can venture out to discover answers to trivia questions.
Each round, you are presented with a trivia question. If you correctly answer the question, I add bonus silver to your personal prize pot. If you answer incorrectly, you have silver removed from your personal prize pot.
If you fail to answer the question correctly by the end of a round, the “Kraken” is in play for the next round. While the Kraken is active, I am not obligated to correctly identify your symbol when asked.
For each round that a player is not eliminated the community prize does not increase. Subsequently, each time a player is eliminated the community prize pot increases.
A standard round time is 10 minutes. However, this may randomly change throughout the game.
Players remaining at the end of round 6 are the winners and split the community prize pot and win their personal prize pot.
If all players are eliminated the pot goes to the Kraken Collective.
Here is the recap of gameplay in simple terms. 1. I assign you a symbol but don’t tell you. 2. Machtig tells you the trivia question for that round. Announces out loud to everyone. 3. I announce the 10 minute timer starts. 4. You take a few minutes to figure out your symbol, and you ask about other players’ symbols so you can either help them or stab them in the back. 5. You go discover trivia answer. 6. After 10 minutes you come back to the play area. 7. I’ll ask you to state your symbol. If you get it right, you move on and; 8. I’ll ask you to whisper the answer to the trivia question to Machtig. If you get trivia question right more money in your prize pot. 9. If you get the trivia questions wrong, then the next round the Kraken is active and the Purloiner does not have to give an honest answer about your symbol to anyone who asks. 10. If you guess your symbol wrong, you are eliminated. 11. After everyone attempts to guess their symbol, the next round starts. 12. If someone is eliminated, then the community prize pot goes up. If no one is eliminated the pot does not grow in value.
