WAIT is a roleplaying verb. It also has functionality within certain systems, such as with escort bounties.
Usage
Wait:
Time drags on by... Roundtime: 2 sec. XXX seems to be waiting for something.
Wait person:
You tap your foot impatiently as you wait for Person. Person taps her foot impatiently at you as she waits.
Wait item:
You stare at a round wooden table as if waiting for it to do something. Person stares at a round wooden table expectantly, as if waiting for something
Wait creature:
You glance apprehensively at a fanged goblin, waiting for her next move. Person glances apprehensively at a fanged goblin and waits.
